The police came and the perp attacked them. They could have easily shot him dead for that, but instead shit him in the arm so he dropped the knife. The kid has a history of mental illness, and apparently went off his meds. Now he'll have a chance at recovery.

Anytime you're aiming a firearm you're supposed to be aiming/firing center mass. If your intent is not to kill you should be deploying a taser.

The problem isn't 3D movies; the problem is not every movie should be 3D. I've ponied up to see three so far: Avatar, Tron, and Gravity.

Rolling Stone had an article about it: http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/can-gravity-save-3d-20131012

Even James Cameron, who earlier this summer told Cuaron he thought too many movies were being released in 3D that didn't have to be, gave Cuaron's spectacle a thumbs-up. "I was stunned, absolutely floored," the Avatar director told Variety. "I think itís the best space photography ever done, I think itís the best space film ever done, and itís the movie Iíve been hungry to see for an awful long time."

Cameron's earlier skepticism toward the format he'd helped popularize came during a summer when audiences routinely ignored 3D screenings if 2D screenings were available. 3D movies were opening with 3D sales percentages of about 30 percent, nowhere near Gravity's 80 percent. Industry observers were wondering: had the 3D fad run its course?

The short answer was no, especially since overseas audiences, which now make up the bulk of a Hollywood movie's box office, still haven't tired of the gimmick. Indeed, when Gravity opened abroad, it did about 70 percent of its business in 3D on its first weekend. In Russia, the figure rose to 75 percent; in Italy, 95 percent; and in Germany, 97 percent.

It seems to me most of the 3D movies are for kids. Who the fuck is going to pay more so their five-year-old can experience Disposable Kids Movie # 14,032,238 in 3D?

Dying Light 'seems' to be better fleshed out of the original concept and less broken, but that is yet to be determined.

They had that chance with Riptide, and it was a fucking disaster.

Uh, prohibition era?

Being demonized and being illegal aren't the same thing. See weed.

What? Dude, you are really not familiar with prohibition era history, are you? Alcohol was most certainly demonized. That's how they got the government to amend the constitution. They pretty much blamed everything wrong with the country at the time on alcohol. Google some prohibition era posters.

There were myriad reasons for the Volstead Act getting passed, but the zealots proclaiming alcohol to be the source of all society's ills were the (vocal) minority. It never had truly popular support.

When the Eighteenth Amendment was passed I earnestly hoped- with a host of advocates of temperance-that it would be generally supported by public opinion and thus the day be hastened when the value to society of men with minds and bodies free from the undermining effects of alcohol would be generally realized. That this has not been the result, but rather that drinking has generally increased; that the speakeasy has replaced the saloon, not only unit for unit, but probably two-fold if not three-fold; that a vast array of lawbreakers has been recruited and financed on a colossal scale; that many of our best citizens, piqued at what they regarded as an infringement of their private rights, have openly and unabashedly disregarded the Eighteenth Amendment; that as an inevitable result respect for all law has been greatly lessened; that crime has increased to an unprecedented degree-I have slowly and reluctantly come to believe.

Played for a couple hours today. It's fine, but has absolutely no lasting appeal. Games are extremely small (4v4), and combat is unfortunately a lot of ridiculous jumping around. Maps are for the most part boring, and very limited.

Shareholders should not be happy about this.

And they would have been happy had a flagship title not made a holiday release?

How would this have any chance of being successful? I've never played a bug-free game, and I've sure as shit seen plenty of games knowingly released before they were in an acceptable state. Ship first, patch later is an inevitability with consoles designed to be internet connected.

The only Youtuber critics I ever really trust are Totalbiscuit and Angry Joe because they are both more than willing to bash the fuck out of a game they think deserve it, and more often than not they are AAA releases like BF4.

TB loved BF4.

Alcohol can be used responsibly

... as a disinfectant. It would really be interesting to see alcohol as demonized as every other explicitly harmful drug.

Dunno, combat just looks too unchanged/unimproved. Dark Souls was already basically more of the same, itself... isn't looking like they are trying to move forward at all.

Move forward to what? It is hard but fair combat. I don't think there is much they could do to improve upon the combat. What would you suggest?

Magic, for starters, stinks. It's beyond boring. Arching is the same, having little use/effect throughout the series. And while I understand polearms do behave quite a bit differently than sword'n'board etc., I don't think they do enough to differentiate playing styles between weapons. I'd like to see different skill/ability sets beyond "thrust" and "swing".

They made bare hands and shields viable as weapons, added a dual-wielding stance, allow two-handed weapons to parry, made backstabs interruptable and harder to pull off, gave a riposte-like thing after guard breaks

Except for dual wielding (which I've no idea how well implemented it is), these are largely simple and or superficial changes.

Amazon's downloadable games service is pretty straightforward, and it has the benefit of being hosted on Amazon's servers, which are insanely fast. Unless you are compulsive about having all your content in one place, there's no reason not to use Amazon.

I'm an RPG junkie but found Dark Eye impenetrably dull. Is Blackguards any different?
