Human body could power smartphones, pacemakers and other devices

Does "other devices" include armies of malicious robots/AIs?

This isn't requiring us to eat more, it's just using the excess energy that's wasted.

I should think the sheer amount of energy wasted everywhere else in life, from my heatbox of a computer to my shitty car to my poorly insulated house, far surpasses the meager extra calories I could offer.

The only thing that would make sense to me is a kinetic-powered MP3 player because seriously my Zune has awful battery life and I run every weekday.

What is always odd to me that any future digital "intelligence" is supposedly going to be incapable of rationalizing any of its behavior's beyond meeting its own needs to the detriment of anything else

Like father like son.

Humanity zing. Yeah!!!

AI/neural nets, machines building machines, etc. have all been around for a good while now

Excuse me, what????? When did we create an AI? No, Watson doesn't count. Nothing yet developed comes remotely close to displaying the cognitive capabilities of what is popularly considered "true" AI. Short of a spontaneous breakthrough, Skynet is a long ways off.

Again, I can't get into the article, but no one here has articulated any true technical reasons.

I'm assuming "for good technical reasons" means that the enthusiast will be gone because he can't tinker anymore, meaning he left the platform for technical reasons. I didn't take it to mean that Intel cut him out for good technical reasons.

There isn't one. If this plays out it the only way this can be construed is Intel taking the P out of PC. You want a locked down computer? Go buy an Apple, and have fun paying a 75% premium for the privilege.

"By then the last remaining overclockers and experimenters on the PC front will be gone, and for good technical reasons."

Excuse me, but what the fuck is this supposed to mean? Good technical reasons? Like wanting to force me into buying a $1,000 CPU instead of cooling/overclocking a less expensive one on my own terms? My case doesn't have six fucking fans on it for no reason.

I know what vdroop is. I know what FSB strapping is. I don't need Intel telling me how to run my system.

I love my Kindle Fire. I am forever watching movies and TV, surfing the web, and listening to music on it.

You should try reading books. You know, those things Kindles are supposed to be made for.

If you didn't grow up with tile-based movement games, I'd say pass on it.

That is nonsense. The puzzles are surprisingly clever, the combat can get very hectic (it is real time, you know), and it is pretty challenging if you don't save scum. I DIDN'T play Wizardry or Eye of the Beholder in my youth and still saw the quality of Grimrock.

Damn, that's a sweet editor, nice and easy to use. Looks like a far cry from the typical FPS editors like hammer.

That's because it has to be usable on a gamepad...

No one said its the second coming of Thief or something.

It has been getting a lot of bukkake love around here.

And it had tons of hype. Not Call of Duty, but Bethesda gave it a lot of time in the spotlight regardless.

Anyone run into this?

PC hooked up to monitor via HDMI.

Vid Card is Nvidia 660 Ti to a Samsung Monitor.

The past couple of days, if I let it idle for over an hour or so, the only way to get it back on the display is to unplug and replug in the HDMI cable....it won't start upthe display. Says "No HDMI connection" or whatever on the screen like nothing is plugged in or on...

ideas?

driver.

Looks to be a problem with where the HDMI cable connects to the card. It isn't seating 100% and marrying up all the way, so it may be backed out just a tad. If I put some pressure on it to get it in a little bit, vid comes back. So I need to modify the cable end or the case a bit to make sure I get a solid connection.

I had to take an xacto blade to one side of my HDMI cable's housing to get it into my GPU. DESIGN FAIL.

Yeah AC3 is pretty sweet. The "intro" took me three hours to complete and that was with some exploring and wandering (because who wouldn't want to spend as much time as possible as Haytham, the guy is a total badass). And once they gave me full control of Connor I immediately headed to the frontier to started wandering around and killing bears for like four hours.

As for the naval battles... fuck! It clearly isn't supposed to be a sim or anything, but god damn that shit is INTENSE.

AAA production costs are already astronomically high. Improving the hardware wouldn't change that. The fact that PC ports can look so much better (when the devs bother supporting the latest DX tricks and gadgets) is proof enough.

I don't think federal law applies to debit cards (yet). But if you have a good bank (or hopefully a credit union) you shouldn't have any issue getting identity theft money back. When I went in to get my situation sorted, the rep told me, "don't worry, this happens all the time." Whether he sought to comfort or alarm me is as yet undecided.

Which would be fine if Max wasn't such a boring pathetic cunt this time, or if the story was worth mentioning. I'm in AssCreed3 atm and loving the characters/cutscenes, even if things do get pretty traditional narrative wise.
