Dragon's Dogma 1's godawful checkpoint/save system made me rage quit so many times.

Won't go near the new one unless that has been replaced with a PC style save at any point system.

Take it you didn't play Elden Ring then.

I was discussing this very topic with somebody in the office this morning.

I am a rules guy and believe language should have rigid structure and rules: I want to learn them once and forget about it because to me language is just a means to an end. In the same vein, I believe everyone on the planet should adopt the same language: translation and miscommunication due to language barriers is a huge waste of resources.

He argued that language is NOT a set of rules: language is just a model of otherwise natural communication behaviors that are inherently subject to change and evolution. If somebody is using language "incorrectly" according to the current model of said language, it isn't the language that is incorrect but rather the model of the language.

Screenshot the pdf and print as an image. Acrobat should also have a "print as image" option which accomplishes the same.

Waltz has really been wasted since Tarantino had him. Two enormously successful roles back-to-back, a "meh" role in "meh" Bond movies... and then poof, basically nothing.

Yeah let's just ignore the industry is growing at 8% - 10% per year and is expected to continue to do so for the next five years.

You want to talk about numbers though? Sure.

Let's see.. EA's latest numbers...

Oh look, their gross profit is up year-over-year... but the pandemic is over... how is this possible? Nobody buys games anymore and the industry is "in a downturn" because some guy on Blues News said it was.

Quick, somebody call the EA board and let them know!

There is no conspiracy. They fire people to make their next quarterly reports look better. Firing people is by far the easiest way to do this because there is nothing protecting employees.

Embracer is out outlier and just an idiot company (yeah buying a bunch of decades-old properties is a sure-fire way to turn a profit!), I'm referring more to the industry as a whole.

Well, Wingefors is the founder and the largest single stakeholder of Embracer. If anyone, HE can damn well do as he pleases .

Also, what goes up, must come down. The gaming industry has shifted into overdrive during the pandemic. Now it's time to shrink again. Industry-wide, more than 16,000 jobs have been cut since early 2023. This is the new business as usual for now... until shit goes up again. Then the cycle's gonna repeat. That's just how it is. That's life. Shit grows and shit dies.

Yeahhhhhh no.

It (the video games industry) is expected to grow at an annual rate of 8.76% between 2024 and 2027

The layoffs in the VG industry can be attributed to corporate bull shit (IE MS buying Actiblizz or Embracer being... Embracer) or copycat layoffs. The games industry isn't really considered an entertainment industry, perhaps because many of the people in it are engineer-types and programmers, so fluctuations in the tech sector (like... a bunch of layoffs in 2023) bleed into the games industry.

Which I guess ultimately falls under corporate bull shit because the layoffs are short-sighted measures to attempt to appease shareholders. How is it games like Palworld and Lethal Company and Phasmophobia can come from people with zero industry experience and zero budget and somehow sell magnitudes more copies than the majority of AAA titles?

Buy an extremely hot sauce and add a little of it to less hot sauces. I have a little bottle of Da Bomb in my fridge that I add 1tsp - 1tbsp to other bottles of hot sauce.

Don't bother with this card. Steve are Gamers Nexus tested it, and its a whooping 1.8 percent faster the the 4080. Only good thing he had to say was the price.

1.8% faster for $200 less seems like something you should absolutely "bother with" if you're looking to upgrade from an older generation.

It's still absurdly overpriced.

So that would mean it would have to be delisted off of GOG right?

This is so stupid. Now, the ONLY way you can get your hands on what I consider a very important game is to pirate it. Does that make sense to anyone? Even if you don't care about playing it again, you should care about the history of our medium. The best way to honor gaming's history is to preserve games, not to say well shucks, there's a license problem so no one can ever see it again. Once again piracy is the only option. Thank you to the pirates.

I tried finding a movie from the 80s the other day and it's completely unavailable online... and it wasn't some throwaway movie. To Live and Die in LA. Not available anywhere online. You can buy the DVD, though!

The 7000 series isn't susceptible to long boot times. That's a myth.

You say it’s a myth then proceed to list a bunch of motherboards all with horrendous boot times. You clown yourself it’s a major issue. My 4 year old 5800X boots in 10 seconds flat with Intel being even faster. It’s an issue that bothers me and and I’m not building a Ryzen PC until it’s resolved.

"Horrendous boot times"... Imagine somebody complaining their PC takes 25 seconds to startup... back in my day I could press "power" on my case and make a full English breakfast before Windows was responsive.
