Oddly, my wife hated the movie, but likes the Series very much. I am the same way. The characters are a bit campy, but the humor is just too much. And I cannot get enough of the anti-McGyver character that Anderson ended up playing.

Which states have had laws that were found unconstitutional? I have trouble believing that. If there are laws against selling adult games to minors then having laws that enforce that certainly aren't going to be unconstitutional. What part of the constitution has been violated? Freedom of speech doesn't allow you to sell porn to minors...

You know, I suspect I am actually dumber now after reading that article. I think this guy would complain about the sky being blue, simply because he can't change it?
64 bit processors are going to make us all more productive? Yea, and Nuclear weapons will end the need for warfare. When pigs fly.

I played the game for the first month after launch, mainly because I try most every MMORPG. To say it sucked would be an insult to games that do suck. There was nothing innovative about the gameplay, the world was bland, and character creation didn't even keep you interested.
Don't waste time. I suspect they will merge the servers down to zero machines in the near future.

it was quicker, cheaper and easier to remove access, and they simply never realised that (by directly manipulated the contents of RAM IIRC) it could be feasibly accessed. Now that's just stupid. Every game company on the planet has become well aware that hackers can and will do anything to find cheats/exploits/mods in games no matter how hard the company tried to keep it quiet.
As a programmer, I can tell you that your assumption that they had some really tricky code that made removing the content too difficult is just hilarious. The more plausible scenario is that R* figured that the code would be hacked, and the publicity would either sell lots more games, or make them famous as 'gangstas.' However, it looks like they forgot to take into account that lots of real people and the government doesn't have that kind of sense of humor.

"Parents should stop using PC games and videogames as babysitters and use them as a form of interacting with their kids."
I agree, that's why we used the perverted sex offender across the street to babysit our kids.

Sadly, there are people who do not see the (very large in my opinion) difference between ratings on video games, and actual people planting bombs on buses.
If you don't get it, then there really isn't much hope for you.

Now, let's say this was Clinton in office and it was John Podesta who had done what Rove did...what do you think the GOP would be calling for as punishment? Think they'd stop just at Podesta? Remember, these are the same assholes who spent 60 million tax dollars because a guy got a blowjob. ROFL, no they prosecuted him for lying to a Grand Jury about getting a blow job. Like when the SEC asked Martha Stewart how she got the information to sell her stocks, and she lied about it. Turns out she didn't do anything wrong other than lying to the SEC.
You see, lying is the bigger sin in this country. Something my teenage daughter has yet to learn.

Quake IV? |

I was horribly disappointed in Doom 3. I guess the fact that they kept so much secret while it was in development might have been a warning, but who figured it was because the game was so bad they didn't want people to know before hand. And the folks at PC Gamer who gave it an outstanding review completely mislead everyone. It was $40 we could never get back again, and Id really should have given a rebate to all of us fools who bought it before more reviews were out.
I won't give any consideration to Quake IV until I've read lots of reviews, and they all assure me that Id has pulled their faces out of the pile.

I think he meant player skills. That would be my guess, since most games are based on some sort of "RPG Skill" system already. So would a game that allows the faster player to get off the first shot, and accuracy like FPS games work in an MMORPG.
My guess is it won't work for most people. If you always lose because you have lousy eye-hand coordination, you won't play these games very long.

Heh, you don't know much about how a game like HL2 differs from an MMORPG do you? For one thing, many of us already have most of the download from Steam done, they've been releasing it little by little for weeks now.
Second, MMORPG's require constant connections to play the game. HL2 won't need that.
Third, many people will have the game on CD, and never go to Steam, eliminating a lot of the load.
So the load won't be nearly as bad as you estimate.

b) If you bought the game (and didn't pirate it) you wont be needing a virtual drive to run it. Zzzt. Wrong answer, but thanks for playing. In fact, using a virtual cd drive makes playing most of these games much faster and hassle free. I use Virtual CD's for each of the games that require a CD so I can avoid digging out the CD's and inserting them all the time. In fact, I'm playing a game that way now that is advertised not to work with Virtual CD software. I guess the publishers aren't as smart as they think they are.

Tom's Hardware review of NVIDIA 6800 |
Apr 14, 2004, 21:37 |

Wow, Tom's Hardware has gone seriously downhill. I was laughing my face off when I looked at those "Image Quality" pictures. The reviewer states that the detail on the images from the 6800 are as good or better than the ATI card because you can see more textures. ROFL, what you see is banding and other artifacts that have been a problem for the 59xx series, and is obviously still there on the 6800. Tom should get a graphics card reviewer who actually knows what he is looking at when comparing images :0) This comment was edited on Apr 14, 21:38. |

I usually like skimming your site for interesting information, and then shoot over to the ones I want to read. I use a tabbed browser (Mozilla of course), so I can just open up each link I am interested in its own tab, and then go read those once I am finished with the Blues for the day. The additional length to your site makes it less useful, IMHO.

It sure is good to see that the publishers are learning from their past mistakes. Or is that repeating their past mistakes? I get confused. You'd think the first dozen times that they screw their paying customers it would be clear, but who cares? People still buy the crappy software and are happy with it.
Most of us just use CD cracks/copiers to play anyway. Even to play legitimately it is better to run with the crackers. Unfortunately the software publishers seem to be staffed by folks incapable of learning.

HAR, the cd swap fix is tougher than they anticpated. Why don't they just hire some of the hackers who figured out how to play the game without the CD's. Works for everyone else...

4 hours to get through subscription server. Hint: Clear your browser Cache AND Cookies!
1 hour of play servers being up. The Devs currently expect to have the servers back up around 8AM PST, that's around 9 hours from right now
