I'm pretty sure he wasn't committing suicide over a fixed game. This was just the incident that turned out to be that proverbial straw. His life and mental state were probably already in shambles before this.

There’s little that tends to unite a leading liberal like Dick Durbin and a conservative firebrand like Ted Cruz.

But when the two senators join their colleagues for a hearing this month on Comcast’s $45 billion bid for Time Warner Cable, many of them will have something in common — they’ve each collected Comcast cash.

Tell me again how the Republicans and Democrats are different? This is why I scoff when I hear comments like "My party of choice cares more about the people than your party of choice!"

What ever happened to Godus? I haven't heard anything about that in yonks.

It seemed to go dark after reviewers like Total Biscuit and Worth a Buy dude picked apart the alpha. Often those two are too critical I think but the game mechanics did look kind of crappy (CLICK!CLICK!CLICK!CLICK!CLICK!CLICK!). Maybe they are fixing it up...

People around me water their lawns like frickin' crazy. It's unbelievable how much water people waste. I'm all for putting in astroturf myself - I never water my yard. I think the only thing we should be watering is our flower gardens and our vegetable gardens.

Really robdot? I thing the majority find access to PC games easier then ever due to digital distribution options. I can't think of the last hard copy game I've bought. When I think back, that was a bit hard getting use to, but now I much prefer it. Now the major problem many of us have is a growing library of unplayed games because they're just so easy to buy... and the sales can be so tempting!

This. Definitely describes me.

Oh, and for those complaining about the download - forget it. Those of us who played the beta will have noticed that the audio decompresses during installation. You're not downloading 35gb of audio data.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe a better title would be "The Man Who Once Was a Great Game Designer Until He Became Irrelevant On His Way To Insanity."

I'd hate to be on a data capped plan.

Yeah that's the problem. On today's average hard drive 48G isn't a whole lot, but depending on which provider you are stuck with it could be up to a quarter of your monthly data cap.

Heh, I know most religious types are pretty decent people but I just look at the problems its caused and continues to do so. It really is man's greatest calamity.

That I don't disagree with at all. Many of the greatest atrocities of humankind were perpetrated under the guise of being "the will of God". That said, I don't presume to tell anyone where they should seek their personal fulfillment from. Be it from the Bible, art, philathropy, goat porn, whatever... whatever makes you happy.

Ssshhh, Christianity bashing is a firmly established belief on Bluesnews.

Don't think of it so much as bashing Xtianity as it is bashing stupidity. Religion is for the weak and the stupid. Period. And the worst part is that this brainwashing is perfectly legal and non-taxable.

I'm sure Creston appreciates you perfectly illustrating your point for him.

I'll admit to thinking long and hard about whether these could be rescued, but that's a floor where everyone walks, including the Gunnar-man, and I know where his feet have been.

Bah, so what? It can't be any worse than drinking coffe made from beans passed through cats digestive systems and picked out of their shit!

Well we know the u.s. government won't ever since Manning was not offered a pardon, and whistleblowers are prosecuted left and right here, its a runaway police state, plus if they did offer asylum that would be an admission that they are wrong. They joke about assassinating him too, and I bet they would love to rendition him to some hidden CIA base for torture-time, they are just damn fascists.

Which, I might point out, was supposed to end with the end of the Bush-Cheney adminstration. As I have been saying all along, there is FAR less differerence between the Republican and Democrat parties than people think. Slimy is slimy; a politician is a politician.

Spotify, Rhapsody, and Pandora suck in my opinion. I certainly can't DJ off of them when I do gigs, but even without that they don't let you hear exactly what you want to hear when you want to hear it. I suppose they are fine for discovering new music I guess (definitley better than the radio which either plays the same 15 fucking songs over and over and over and... or somehow hasn't figured out that people have heard 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Comfortably Numb', and 'Highway to Hell' so many times that they are on constant repeat in their fucking heads at all times but I digress...). But when I do discover that new band or that new album I immediately head to Amazon MP3 to buy it, not wait until Pandora allows me to skip past the shit to let me hear it again.

Spotify lets you hear what you want to hear when you want to hear it. That's why I use it instead of shit like Rhapsody and Pandora. Spotify has ads every so often, but you hear what you want when you want. I go through whole albums, or I put playlists on shuffle, or I listen to that one song I wanted to hear 3 times in a row. No issues. No limitations. No money exchanged.

Hmm. I thought I tried Spotify but maybe I didn't. Has it always worked that way? Maybe I'm thinking of another one. Anyway, that is admittedly pretty cool, but I prefer MP3's I can download to my tablet or laptop since I DJ places that have spotty wifi or none at all. I have bought a MASSIVE amount of MP3's (over 35000 now in my Amazon account) in part due to discovering new music (or old music that I missed the first time around) on services like Pandora, so I wouldn't say those services don't help push sales at all. Maybe not a whole lot but they do in my case.

On a side note I keep hearing that Pandora's business model is losing them money due to the one-two punch of low revenues paid to them by the Recording Industry for pushing customers to places like iTunes and Amazon and the high royalties they must pay the RIAA to play the music they play. It seems pretty dire (I would imagine Rhapsody and Spotify are in the same boat) so these services might disappear before too long.

News Comments > Tomb Raider "Exceeded Profit Expectations"
27. Re: Tomb Raider Mar 7, 2014, 15:59 Prez

...as if they invested heavily and only achieved average sales then it can be deemed a disappointment.

I'm not an industry expert or a development guru but I still feel qualified to say that if the numbers that Tomb Raider has pulled in are a disappointment or can be considered "average" I'm pretty sure that either:

A. They invested WAY TOO HEAVILY. I mean if 6 million sales can be even remotely disappointing...

B. Their expectations were so ridiculously unrealistic that they'd be better off listening to a Magic 8-Ball than the projections of in-house "experts".

Don't get me wrong; I get the point that publisher expectations and developer expectations may not always line up, but for anyone to publicly complain that millions of sales in the first few weeks is somehow disappointing comes across as painfully clueless, thus the overall reaction.

Then again, I have a beef with origin stories in general. I am the guy who keeps wondering how many times we have to see Peter Parker get bit buy the radioactive spider.

No kidding. It's almost like movie producers decided that they can do this "fan fiction" thing that's so popular on the internets so all of them want to make their own version of everything popular. Enough already!**

**Except for the Terminator reboot. The way I see it after the terribly written Terminator Salvation a reboot is the only way we are ever going to get another Terminator movie that has the potential to not suck. :-)
