Like they say in the investment world, "past performance is not a guarantee of future results". That GTA3, Vice City, GTA4 and Liberty City Stories eventually made it to PC does not guarantee that GTA5 will as well. I certainly don't see it as a foregone conclusion like others do. After Read Dead Redemption stayed off PC despite huge demand nothing would surprise me.

Perhaps you missed the point made earlier -- different franchise, different developer, different situation. Anybody that assumed RDR would be coming to PC was deluding themselves without basis. It may not be a guarantee, but there is a hell of a lot more reason to be confident in a PC release of GTA V.

That doesn't mean much to me - and in and of itself isn't evidence of anything. Correct me if I'm wrong, but deciding which platform a game releases on and which it doesn't is typically a publisher decision isn't it? I'll believe GTAV is coming to PC when it is confirmed by Rockstar/Take 2, not before.

This is great news. A PC-only game is selling great, making a nice profit for the developer, and piracy is not mentioned at all. Hopefully other devs are taking notice...

As for the game, I still haven't dove into it yet but I really enjoyed the first one so I'm sure I'll play the hell out of it when I do.

I just can't play games sitting on a couch or on the floor in front of my TV. Partly it is due to back problems, and partially due to the fact that I just can't get into the experience that way. I need to be sitting upright at a 24-26" monitor in a comfy office chair.

There's nothing stopping you from hooking your game console up to your monitor for controller-friendly games (racing games etc), though. I use a $10 HDMI switchbox so I can toggle between PC and PS3, and if your monitor has multiple inputs you might not even need that.

I have been thinking about doing that more and more as of late actually. If it turns out that GTA 5 is a console exclusive, I will probably go ahead and do it.

Empire was the only decent one of the bunch. Even ANH wasn't very good.

Jedi was awesome until Lucas ruined it with his fuzzy teddy bear tribe.

Being a PC only gamer means missing out on great stuff like The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption and so on. That's not a big deal to some people but it is to me

I just can't play games sitting on a couch or on the floor in front of my TV. Partly it is due to back problems, and partially due to the fact that I just can't get into the experience that way. I need to be sitting upright at a 24-26" monitor in a comfy office chair. I hate not playing games like Read Dear Redemption and GTA5, but I really am unable to enjoy games on console. I've tried several times, but it just ain't happening. There's certainly no way I will ever feel comfortable playing a FPS (my favorite genre) with a controller. Even in games designed for controllers like GTA4 and Darksiders I prefer to play with a mouse and keyboard (though in open world games like GTA I still drive with the 360 controller - all the on foot stuff is m+k though).

So I get this email from Steam...

Hey, one of the items on your wishlist is on sale. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is 25% off, down to $67.47 USD.

Wow, am I a lucky fuck or what? I like how it came out like 4 years ago, and its regular price is still $90 on Steam for Aussies.

At this stage, I'm guessing 6% of you are thinking "get the fuck out of Australia, dude", while the other 94% are going "why is mw2 even on your wishlist?!"

Actually I was thinking "Jeez, paying more for games is a small price to pay for getting to live in an awesome place like Australia!"

I remember getting Singularity for less than 10 bucks (I think it was $7.50) and I got the first Modern Warfare for about the same, but yeah, Activision is exceptionally unrealistic with their prices and stingy with their discounts. Not being a multiplayer gamer, MW2 and 3 are each worth 5 bucks to me, so it looks like I'll be waiting quite some time yet before I get those. But it's not like I am chomping at the bit for them anyway.

The difference being that living in an environment that allows you to be outdoors all the time -- changes your social habits, your culture, your interaction with nature, and almost everything else. I've been to many different places. Being forced (or choosing) to stay inside all the time is both psychologically and physically destructive.

No it's not. Being out in the wilds is dangerous and possibly lethal. And all us northerners and people of northern European descent while away the winters in our caves quite comfortably, thank you very much. The only reason most people go out is because they have no other choice. Otherwise they'd be more than happy to stay in their caves and have everything come to them. And is there some reason people can't exercise indoors? In fact most people probably do. And most people in public are assholes and/or idiots and I really have zero desire to interact with any of them more than is absolutely necessary. Going out in public in any city is more an exercise in frustration and anger than anything else. Whilst I do like camping that's not as easy as just going outside and takes some time, money, and effort. So, thanks but no thanks.

Heh, I could have written this paragraph myself (Except for the camping part ). I couldn't agree more with the highlighted part.

Regarding the campaign though - the last decent one was the first OFP.

I agree. Though it may just have been the novelty of it because there was honestly nothing else like it when OFP came about. Ghost Recon had better mechanics but OFP was way more open-ended.

Time to remake my old coop mission from Ofp to Arma 3 now, should be fun.

Did you ever upload it to a mod or maps site or did you just keep it for you and your friends? I played a ton of user-made maps for coop OFP with my son and friend back in the day.

They certainly have lost something in recent years. They aren't anywhere as good as they used to be, and they are far too whiny nowadays.

I generally play games in huge chunks when I get time - over the last three days I had off and played about 20 hours of Far Cry 3, for example. I don't regret or lament that fact one bit either (nor do I consider it being "trapped"...) because I enjoyed the vast majority of that time immensely. Which means it wasn't wasted. I still dislike MMO's though - I reluctantly joined my friends GW2 guild after he had been pestering me about it for quite some time, and while that game manages to avoid some of the major pitfalls of the genre, it still feels more like work than gaming. Which indicates most of that time was wasted I think. It is, as someone already mentioned, a personal preference thing. Your choice of how you spend your personal time does not make you better or wiser than someone else. I HATE the outdoors; others love it. To each his own.
