You incorrectly assume I'm a Republican.

You misunderstand - I did not assume you are Republican. But it has been my experience that whatever side people proclaim to be on (Tea Party, Constitutionalist,Libertarian) they will defend to the death as the only answer for America. It's just typical politics in the US.

If you are Republican though you still are though. (Not sure if you are or not, just saying IF) The governemnt grew by leaps and bounds with the last two Republican administrations, especially the last one. It's espeically hard to think that much would be different had Romney somehow won in 2012. We'd still be spying on people under the guise of the horrid "Patriot Act", and we'd probably still be dealing with the ACA. It would be the height of hypocricy for him to try to repeal the ACA when he got the same damn thing instituted in Massachusettes as governor.

The Democrats defending it are finished.

I wouldn't be so sure - the democrat voters are as vehemently fanatical about their "team" as you are for yours I think.

"Holy ovethinking Batman!" Talk of "logic" and the minute details of unexploded ordinance in a game featuring post-apocalyptic mutants, giant ants, zombies, and vampires. Boy you guys must be a blast to watch a sci-fi movie with!

Similar, and better. It's far more refined now and looks way better too. It helps if you've read some of the Fables comics but they're not really necessary. The game just oozes character and style. I cannot wait for the rest of the episodes.

Better you say? Sold! But I never read the comics. Guess I can read them first...

So, the Wolf Among Us... Is it anything like "The Walking Dead"? That game was what I consider the 'Non-Adventure Gamer's Adventure Game' - I loved it and I'm not now nor have I ever been a real adventure gamer. If Wolf Among Us is similar I'll buy it.

I'll put in my vote for Sang-Froid. It's a very atmospheric 3rd Person Action/Tower Defense game that is really innovating in places, and the setting is just wonderful.

EDIT: Oh and avoid Orion Dino Horde at all costs. Great premise, utterly abysmal execution.

Really saw this coming a while ago. From what I can tell there has been very little interest in Command and Conquer since they screwed up C&C 4 so bad it practically killed the series. To make matters worse they make the game a F2P game - does anyone trust that EA wouldn't make it pay to win and nickel and dime players to death? I wouldn't take that bet for the world myself.

Prez, he lied, for 3 years over and over, "you'll be able to keep your old plans, prices will be lower!" straight bold faced fucking lies. Healthcare is a huge part of our economy, putting the government as a middle man has total fail written all over it at least in it's current form.

I'll be the first to admit I would prefer a private industry program to a government one almost 100% of the time since government isn't exactly known for efficiency (And as a goverment employee for 9 years I should know). In the case of healthcare, however, things have been spiraling out of control for years now and nothing was being done to fix the problems - why would any entity even try, when there was nothing in it for them? Which, incidentally, is one major fault of capitalism - only monetary considerations will ever push industries to improve without governemnt "encouragement", which unfortunately it has come to for the health care system. If it ends up that ACA is an unpolishable turd then I'll be right there with you, but only to call for something better. As far as what he lied about, that remains to be seen as far asI'm concerned. My plan remains unchanged, and if it goes up in price, that isn't anything new. Before the Presidency was even a twinkle in Barry's eye my health care premiums have been shooting up at an alarmingly fast rate.

Didn't you say before you lean conservative? You've been awful lenient on this administration if that's the case.

It depends what we are talking about. If you want to discuss how he seemingly has no control of what his cabinet members are up to, like idiot Holder and "Fast and Furious", or his hypocricy on bashing Bush for invading privacy when he was a Senator but then taking the program ten times further as President, then I won't have much good to say. But he has done some good things that even conservatives should acknoweldge were they not so focused on trashing him at every turn. He has been tough on terrorism - Bin Laden is room temperature now thanks to his giving the order. He listened to his generals and effectively pursued the war in Afghanistan to make sure the war was won before winding it down. He ended the Iraq debacle (that I have to admit I was for in the beginning before I woke up). I could name other things but hopefully you get the point.

So still waiting for your slathering reason as to why Obozocare is great, I held up my end.

I don't remember anyone proclaiming Obamacare "great"... the best I've heard is that it's an imperfect solution to a huge problem. I am still taking a wait and see approach - the launch disaster is not necessarily indicative of an overall failure of the whole program. Just think of Obamacare as an MMO - huge problems at launch but constantly being worked on.

But seriously, I just don't see it as the end of capitalism or our grand entrance into socialism - people who are covered by it still need to pay for it after all. Also there's nothing saying that it can't be tweaked so as to work better. If you hate the very idea of it that's fine; lot's of people do, but I always wonder what is that hate based on? If it's all the doomsday predictions I've heard about it, all I can say that from what I've seen the doomsayers are almost always wrong, and in the rare instances they are right it's more happenstance than anything - even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Unless it's digital, but I digress...

Fallout 3 was way over-hated by many gamers. Despite some rough edges it was an excellent first try at transitioning the Fallout world into a living breathing 3D world. Fallout purists made up there minds to hate it the second it was announced; it was far better than anyone thought it would turn out to be. Great game regardless of what the haters say.

I like how your argument is to dismiss out of hand any specific complaints FO3 detractors might have and then declare by fiat that they are wrong. Must have gone to the Bethesda Writer's School of Informal Logic!

Jeez, a little defensive are we? I didn't say anything about people with legitimate complaints nor did I label all detractors as haters. But there was an irrational ammount of over-emotional hate goig around before during and after the game's development. Tell me you never came across someone who was trashing the game as dumbed-down console trash before it even shipped, and I'll give you a e-cookie. Either way, lighten up Francis. Rolleyes2

Morning Joe montage shows White House denying knowledge of various scandals

Looks like MSNBC hasn't yet gotten that call from the Whitehouse to get back in line. It's ironic how the mainstream media couldn't attack Reagan fast enough for denying involvement with his scandals, calling him stupid and disconnected. Somehow Obama uses that same excuse as a badge of honor and mostly gets away with it.

Again, it depends on one's perspective I think. I am old enough to remember Iran Contra well, and the mainstream media (mostly network TV nightly news back then) was calling Reagan none of those things. It was the left-leaning political pundits that were doing that while the right-leaning ones were rushing to his defense. Kind of like - no, EXACTLY like - the way things are playing out now, except it's the right-leaning pundits attacking and the left-leaning pundits defending. The media isn't exactly covering up the mess - I've been reading stories on NBC News, USA Today, CNN, ABC News, et al. about the NSA spying on foreign allies and the ACA roll-out debacle all week.

As far as the Second Amendment, guns rights advocates have long been operating under the erroneous assumption that "shall not be infringed" means "no law of any kind can be passed with any restriction whatsoever involving any kind of firearms". So should we all be allowed to have our own M1 Abrahams or Stinger missiles then?

It is the job of the Congress to pass laws and one major purpose of legislation is to keep the populace safe. The President has Constitutionally-granted "Presidential Power" that has come to be known as the "Executive Order"****. Presidents have been using it since Washington. These laws and orders are reviewable by the Supreme Court to see if they pass Constitutionality. The Supreme Court has in the past rendered decisions clarifying and enforcing the 2nd Amendment as is their obligation The Washington DC handgun ban they shot down comes to mind); it stands to reason that if a law or Order is passed that doesn't pass Constituional muster they will again act. This is how the system is supposed to work and how it has worked throughout history. Bottom line - all gun laws are not inherently unConstitutional despite what the gun nuts say. And I say that as an owner of several firearms myself.

**** From Wikipedia Aricle on "Executive Orders" : Although there is no constitutional provision nor statute that explicitly permits executive orders, there is a vague grant of "executive power" given in Article II, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Constitution, and furthered by the declaration "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed" made in Article II, Section 3, Clause 5. Most executive orders use these Constitutional reasonings as the authorization allowing for their issuance to be justified as part of the President's sworn duties,[2] the intent being to help direct officers of the U.S. Executive carry out their delegated duties as well as the normal operations of the federal government: the consequence of failing to comply possibly being the removal from office.

If this was a story on Fox News, I wouldn't even give it a second glance. But when it is on USAToday reported by NBC, it's at least worth reading to see what it's about.

This is basically the same story Seph linked a few posts back. I think he summed it up well enough. Hell, I have to sign up for what is essentially a new plan every year because the insurance company changes the plans they offer every year.

Fair enough. I actually missed some of this thread since it got so long. So far my health insurance remains unaffected though my company has announced some minor changes will be announced soon in order to comply with the ACA. I'm starting to wonder if the plans that could not be made to comply with the ACA were by fly-by-night insurance companies.

Just like in the Iran-Contra affair, the President may not know that something shady is going on but that doesn't excuse him of his responsibility. And just like in the Iran-Contra scandal I find it a bit hard to believe the President was completely unaware of what was going on. Obama's second term has really been a rough one; I think that maybe the famed "Second Term curse" is actually real. It seems like no president can avoid it.
