I'm thinking they don't, since they say these lists only track sales through the Steam platform. I don't think they even count sales via GMG, but I'm not certain of that. |

Hmmm EA... Guns... Europe not like U.S... ISLAMIFICATION! OH YEAH! Well since the enemies portrayed in most modern day shooters like Medal of Honor are Middle Eastern, maybe EA is going to be dropping Islamification from their videogames next? Then all this babble will be relevent! |

| I'm a pretty big Sci-Fi fan. If it's sci-fi I'll pretty much watch anything. In recent years I faithfully watched Firefly (incredibly awesome), Terminator (terrible writing and worse plot and pacing but still compelling just because it was Terminator and Summer Glau is awesome), Dollhouse (Joss Whedon just can't get a break lately), Alcatraz (Sam Neil was the only good thing it had going for it besides a decent premise that they squandered), Terra Nova (which had virtually nothing going for it beyond dinosaurs, yet I still watched it) and Caprica (which was excellent if sometimes a bit plodding) and all were summarily cancelled. Now we're stuck in a huge sci-fi drought. Which might be the reason that after watching the pilot of "Defiance" I am shocked to discover that I liked it. I mean I really liked it. You can pick a million things about it to harp on as being 'off' in some manner or another, but I hate that shit. If something entertains me then it's good enough in my book. And I was indeed entertained by the "Defiance" pilot, and see a lot of promies for the future if it comes together like I hope it will. If all that makes me somehow "less intelligent" in your book then fine, but I honestly don't give a rat's ass. |

Say what you want about Blizz, they still listen to their customer more than most developers / publishers out there at the moment. You mean besides that whole "online only + auction house" that everyone made clear they didn't want, and they implemented it anyway?
That's just for starters. |

Jeez the jaded cynical bastards are just coming out of the woodwork aren't they?
Seriously, though, I have been gaming since graphics were white dots on a black arcade screen. It's not hard for me to be impressed by graphics like these when I think back to what passed for "great graphics" back in the day. I think my jaw hit the floor when I saw Quake for the first time. |

Screw Blizzard and screw their cash grab auction house. It seems as though they practically phoned in their Starcraft 2 expansion, I guess since it doesn't have a cash shop/auction house so they can't milk it enough like they can with Diablo 3. How depressing to see another once-great development house die in all but name. |

| I don't give a rat's ass about the discussion about PC vs console - everyone with a brain knows that the only way the PC version will look inferior to the new consoles is if Ubisoft purposely gimps it - and the game is obviously coming together extremly well, so the only thing I am worried about is Ubisoft being Ubisoft. They have a knack for saddling great games with absolutely offensive and unnecessarily draconian DRM. Make it use Uplay if you must, but let me buy it on Steam and for fuck's sake, let me play it offline if I want or need to. |

| It's awesome to see the seminal classics like Thief and System Shock 2 being archived in digital repositories like Steam and GoG for future generations. These aren't just gaming services; they are the digital museums of our gaming heritage. Even better, they are made to run on modern OS's and are moddable so they can be modernized enough to be worth playing even today. |

See? Politics sidelined a perfectly good EA-bashing thread. Unacceptable!
I don't know if I am more taken aback by how stupid it is that you need to pay a licensing fee to model a Colt or Bushmaster assault rifle in your game (especially when there are umpteen AR-15 versions by different manufacturers that all look virtually identical) or by EA's blatant hypocricy. "Guns and gun manufacturers are bad... we just won't let that stop us from making tons of cash on games loaded with guns and shooting people." |

The only thing that would really work while still being fair to the animals would be something like the wolf preserve not too far from me in west Tennessee. Though I've never been there, I hear it's pretty cool. |

A-10 sims are a bit less overwhelming because the plane was made with a minimalistic approach for maximum survivability, so they are a tad more accessible. Survey sims (with more than one flyable aircraft) are also less intricate and complicated by necessity.
I used to have the patience, time, and desire to really delve into these flight sims, but that time is long past. This looks so cool though... |

Okay, once in a while I can't help myself. But I almost always end up sorely regretting it. I have decided I am just not making that mistake any more. Sometimes a thread lends itself to a political point but people just take it way too far, and I am not going there any more. |

Valve would likely prefer that everyone buy their games directly from Steam but I think they're happy enough if people are just using Steam. Once you have Steam installed Valve already has you. Sure you bought your last game from somewhere else but it's just so easy to buy your next one through Steam, since you already have it installed and you realize how much functionality and convenience it provides. Not everyone of course, but most do. |

As I am sitting here remembering playing Shadow Warrior back in the day, I just don't see the remake working - for the same reason an "All in the Family" TV show remake wouldn't work. Few people in today's hypersensitive, whiny, habitually-offended-by-everything society are going to stand for a show in which the lead character is a loveable racist. So any remake would be toned down and "modernized" and end up lacking the (funnily offensive) charm of the original.
Now a Redneck Rampage remake - that would be fine, because apparently no one cares about insulting southern white people. |
