Well I didn't. Should I lie and pretend I did? I'm not sure what the socially acceptable thing to do is here I guess.
Fucking Fallout 3! It's always... crashing! Or something! I could believe it in other games, but not FO3, sorry. Not at launch. In fact, I'm fairly certain that when the last time this was discussed, someone went back in your post history and found threads where you detailed problems with FO3 you yourself had despite your claims. It was pretty much proven to me at that point you just like being a contrarian. If someone says "up", you say "down". I loved FO3, despite it not being everyone's favorite, but it has nothing to do with saying whatever is socially acceptable.
And Uplay does not handle disconnects like Steam from what I've seen. I had multiple disconnects playing Borderlands 2 (a steamworks game) and aside from the brief message that the game had lost connection with the Steam servers, and another when it was re-established, it didn't affect my game at all. When Uplay went down, I was kicked out of the game with all progress lost. The RPS article details that Far Cry 3 crashed every time when the Uplay connection was lost, and that has been echoed by many others. Definitely NOT like Steam. If the offline mode somewhat works, great. That makes it like Steam in that regard I guess. All I know is that when I tried the Uplay service it was horrendous - somewhere between Origin and GFWL in sheer awfulness (I know, you never had a single issue with either. ). Steam, when it was in its infancy wasn't exactly a walk in the park either, but today it works amazingly well for me in most respects, thus giving me little reason to go back to a crappy service like Uplay after such a terrible first impression.

Dragon's Lair was amazing for it's time to kids like me who saw it for the one simple reason that it allowed a player to determine the outcome of a cartoon. To those of us who were cartoon-obsessed tweens at the time, that was an impossible dream come true.

| If you are using a simplistic go/no-go test of "if it is DRM of any kind, then it is bad" then sure, they're the same. To anyone without such a narrow litmus test (which seems to be most here), the differences in how each service treats the gamer and what annoyances the user is forced to endure are as vast as the ocean. Really, it's so obvious that you almost have to be willfully dense to cast both services as the same beyond the inconsequential self-evident factoid that they are both a form of DRM. |

I don't see what real difference it makes, you're already using DRM enriched Steam, it's not like Uplay is resource intensive. PC Gamers: BOO UBISOFT DRM! same breath oooo I'll buy <insert title here> on steam and play that! You don't see the difference because how you classify Steam as somehow only being DRM (and intrusive at that, when it is NOTHING like Uplay ) is patently wrong. |

Also, the idea that Los Angeles is any worse than, say, Amsterdam is extremely humorous. But it's a very funny article. I practically pissed myself at the Urban Taco Fabricator.
Creston I laughed out loud at "Hippie Shit is EVERYWHERE." Almost as funny as the article though are the Facebook Zombie responses (if Blue ever starts using Facebook comments for story discussion on BN I may just eat a bullet...) by all the goofballs who 1) very obviously live in L.A. and 2) have absolutely ZERO sense of humor and are offended by everything, just like most left coast crazies. |

Instead they use the same garbage with a "workaround" that apparently doesn't even work. Rules for buying Ubisoft games: #1 - Don't #2 - If you fail to follow rule #1 then at least wait a week or 2 for a 50% off sale
I actually kind of liked the gameplay videos of this one. I might grab the game on the Steam Christmas sale if they patch out the DRM, but I will try the "demo" first. What's so shitty about it is that Ubisoft consistently makes games I am interested in playing, then they kill my enthusiasm with shit like this. FRUSTRATING! |

| Disappointing. I was hoping for content that fleshes out the open world part of the game that felt stifled at release. At least I would have been happier the 3 maps added in the new pack would have been added to the normal rotation of maps that random missions take place on. As much as I love the new X-COM, map recycling in the game is a bit of a downer. Like Cutter suggests, an editor that gives the community the ability to add dozens of more maps would have been far more welcome imo. |

There's still initial activation. I find online activation infinitely better than always on, but not having working activation servers for your brand new blockbuster release is just retarded. |

If I didn't already have everything except Darksiders, I'd pick this up. In fact, I may just pick it all up again and give everything away. (Edit, since they give Steam keys, would that even be possible if I already had almost everything? Steam doesn't give you double copies, does it?)
Creston Each game will have a separate redeemable Steam key, so you can just email the keys to whomever you want to gift the game to.
No way. COH is very similar to DOW 1, there is almost the same amount of base-building and you can still have big armies. DOW 2 is about having a single squad of heroes and no bases... Agreed. It's WAY more like the first and not all that similar in function to DoW2. I think it's just a Jerykk thing though. I can't remember a time when I gave a description of a game and he didn't come in soon after and say "That's not entirely accurate..." In fact, I don't think we have ever agreed on anything in the 30 years we've been on this board together (give or take a decade).

Wow - that is just a stupid amount of great gaming for practically no money.
What are the CoH games like? They are very similar in mechanics to the original Dawn of War games (They share the same engine iirc) - control point-based resource/requisition points kind of thing. The graphics are still damn good considering the game's age too.

| I found Dragon Age Origins to be the best RPG I had played since Baldur's Gate 2. The Witcher was close. It still remains one of the top 10 RPG's I've ever played easily. |

| If it is more like Origins, and if it is on Steam, I'll buy. Otherwise forget it. Bioware gets ZERO benefit of the doubt from me after how badly they've screwed up in recent years. Only Blizzard has fallen farther faster in my eyes. Such a terrible shame. |
