I've got to disagree with you there, unlike Uplay, Origin and GFWL don't feature always online DRM nonsense.
I was speaking of Uplay as the digital service. Ubisoft has moved to one-time online activation only for *some* games, and Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 both have working offline modes, which is a HUGE improvement over their constant always-online garbage of the past. But yeah, there probably remains several games which still have an always-online requirement. |

| NOT good news. THQ wised up and began using Steamworks for their releases. If Ubsioft obtains their old properties they will saddle all of the games with the Uplay crap. It's not horrible; certainly better than Origin and GFWL, but in a world with Steam it's utterly pointless. |

| I own guns, but I'll be damned if I let an extremist lobbyist group like the NRA speak for me. What a bunch of crap - LaPierre needs to get his head out of his ass and start promoting responsible ownership and helping figure out how to keep guns out of the hands out of nutjobs instead of carrying on the blame game. |

I remember looking at this for all of 60 seconds when it first went live before I realized there was nothing I would like about this game at all despite me being the biggest Jagged Alliance fan in history.
I'm amazed it's even still going. |

Do more of this sort of thing, EA. If they did they wouldn't have the reputation they do now. But yeah, credit where credit is due. |

I guess that would be why GoG said that game was updated. Anyone know if there's any way to see whats actually been updated when a game is marked updated? The original GOG release only was for the main game, not the expansion. The update is highlighted on the store page:
What's cool about it:
-Includes the Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire expansion. -Great spin-off of the legendary Civilization series, in a refreshing Sci-Fi setting -Design your own units. Balance their speed, power, and toughness to suit your current tactical needs -Seven factions to chose from, each with its own artificial intelligence model that creates a very suggestive feeling that you are up against real people What's in bold had not previously been the case. |

I appreciate his candor about the current going-on, but like others I find the headline misleading. "Boss Explains, In Plain English, What The Hell Happened To His Company" indicates to me that he would be explaining how his company got to this point in the first place.
Though if the sobering write-up on the troubled development of "Homefront" some weeks back is an illustration of how THQ functioned as a company as a whole, it becomes kind of self-explanatory. |

I'm surprised prez has a "mere" 27 games on his wishlist though. After Snuggle Truck everything else starts to leave you cold.
Actually, I have lots of games that I still want, but I've decided that I ought to, oh, I don't know... actually PLAY some of the 1100 games in my library! Now every time I finish one I add a new one to the list. That site that compiles your Steam catalog's value and playtime said I have plaid around 25% of the games I own. So I figured it was time to get that percentage up a bit by accumulating less and playing more! |

| AWESOME! I've been asking for the Alpha Centauri expansion since they released the DRM-free version of the main game years ago. The game is SOOOO much better with Alien Crossfire. |

It's been a hard year for me so sadly I can't go as nuts as I would normally have in the past as Santa Prez. I will keep gifting as the sale goes on, but if I don't get you this year please don't take it personally.
And you are welcome Verno! |

I decided that I'll continue the "Play it Forward" event that Krovven and I started last year despite the fact that he now hates me and wishes I would die in a fire.
The way it worked last year is that you join the Steam group "Play it Forward" either in the beginning or when someone gifts you a game. You then buy a gift for someone else and send them an invite to the group. If you get a gift and invite, be a good sport and join our group, then pick someone else to buy a gift for and send them an invite. It would help if you post comments in the group page saying what you got and from whom and what you gave and to whom so that in the event that someone gives yet doesn't receive, I will buy you a gift off your wishlist. I am going to start tonight with a gift to a guy who did something super awesome for me last year and link the group comment here.
We had pretty good success last year; hopefully we expand and strengthen our little community with some kind gestures this year. |

Your wallet becomes cursed this time of year - no matter how you try to rid yourself of it, it will always find its way back to you. And no matter what you type in your browser's address bar the Steam store will come up. Such is the power of Steam. Don't fight it; it only makes it more painful. |
