| I am glad for all of the elderly who manage to stay active and continue to live a fulfilling life through their 70's right into their 80's and sometimes even beyond. But after Parkinson's and dementia racked her body and brain, all my grandmother wanted to was to be allowed to die. Apparently we are too "civilized" to allow such a thing, so instead the elderly who are suffering and miserable are forced to continue existing in a life of torment. Why is it that it is considered humane to euthanize a pet which has gotten to the point of not being able to live a fulfilling pain-free life but not to afford humans the same luxury? |

| Operation Raccoon City got bad reviews too. Is RE 6 as bad? I actually liked RE5, despite its move away from survival horror to action. |

| "Most Overrated Games" lists always come across as trollish to me. They know damn well that hundreds of people are going to rush to the defense of whatever games they call out, inciting a massive forum war, getting them more hits for minimal effort. |

Dude you have gone from ADSL to Fibre, inexplicable? .... really?
Heh, yeah I think it's pretty explicable. DSL is notorious for rarely ever coming anywhere close to peak speeds.
EDIT: Wait you said cable modem - I thought you were on DSL. My mistake. |

The only reason these psychos are still doing this shit is because they've found a sick way to profit from it. Take away the attention and they fade away.
I would also settle for taking away their oxygen. I don't think this is correct. Living in the South you learn what the term "religious fanatic" really means. The majority of Christians are decent people who can empathize with everyone (even gays and atheists) and just have a distorted prism through which they view the world. But there is no denying that fanatics are common, and in their fervor to please their own interpretation of what "God" is, they will do it whether they have an audience or not. When they protest dead soldiers' funerals, it's only partly in the hope that they get reviled and hated because this fits their distorted version of "grace through persecution". Mostly they just are happy knowing they are doing "God's will'.
That said, hacking their websites or even personal accounts does nothing accept motivate them further (remember - grace in persecution). It also does nothing to allay the suffering they cause to the families if the deceased - could you imagine the horror of attending the funeral of a beloved parent, spouse, or child and seeing people celebrating their death? I would shoot each and every one of them dead on the spot. Find a way to make every one of the these Westboro loons to take a dirt nap without getting caught - THAT would be something I could get behind.

| I guess it would depend on how you view Xmas. If it's just another holiday for you then it probably makes no difference if you lose your job before during or after. For lots of people, however, it is an extra special festive time that is full of tradition and happiness. For someone like that, having a huge damper on your spirits because of a layoff sucks majorly and makes it extra painful. I used to love Xmas but the commercialism and massive over-marketing killed it long ago for me. My wife and daughter still love it though, and if I had gotten laid off right before I would wait until after the holidays to tell them so as not to spoil what is a wonderful and special time for them. |

| Well I can answer the SSD question at least because I just built a rig with one - a 128 GB I got for $85 from Amazon. I installed the OS and all of the everyday use programs like PDF reader, office suite, music recording software, etc. and used the E:drive (my DVD is the D:drive) to put all of my games and big files on. It is noticeably faster when starting programs and games, and the boot time is much zippier (15 seconds as opposed to 45 seconds of my last system). It's not earth-shattering or anything, so I'd say that while it's nice to have it isn't essential. |

Something gave me the impression it was just another 2D side-scroller that the indie scene is pumping out by the dozen and I ignored it. I still don't understand why you immediately dismiss any 2D indie game simply because of its perspective. Just because a game is 2D and features a scrolling camera doesn't automatically make it a platformer. It would be akin to dismissing every first-person game as a shooter. Perspective is simply perspective, no more, no less. I just don't like sidescrollers. They are confining, rigid, and dull as a rule. There's no immersion, no sense of place. I don't see the world that way - there is no wonder or discovery in a 2D world I can only see from the side as compared to a 3D world I can be put into and surrounded by. Even old 2D sprite games like 'No Remorse' are infinitely more enjoyable than the best modern day sidescroller. Any sidescroller I have ever played has bored me to tears in short order and only made me think it would be vastly more enjoyable and immersive as a 3D world. I don't know why I'm that way, but I just am.
If I ever play another 2D sidescroller again it will be too soon. |

Yeah, I totally passed over "Don't Starve". And for some reason I thought it had already released on Steam, but it's only a live Beta. Something gave me the impression it was just another 2D side-scroller that the indie scene is pumping out by the dozen and I ignored it. I'm glad it got my attention now though - it looks very interesting.
Does that include starve? I think the title is only a suggestion, so yeah, you can probably starve if you want.

edit: Let me drive this further off the rails: You realize Bobby's gonna want sex once a year, usually in the fall, and in the same position, year after year, right? No changes or anything different, no variety, quick a quick bang missionary, with little thought or effort put into it.
Ok, NOW it's weird.
LMAO! At least I'll know what to expect. A few million dollars will buy lots of mouthwash and a good deal of my dignity back I think! |

sauron wrote on Dec 16, 2012, 18:55: I've been using Vonage VoIP for phone service here at Barad-Dur for almost 10 years. Very reliable, and the price is so low I've only had to summarily execute 2 of their CEOs. Quite impressed really. Had to set the orcs on the local Verizon staff due to high prices and the cleanup bill was rather high - Vonage is much better.
However, if it were to go down you'd want reliable cellphone backup. I have MetroPCS for that, and they're not as good - Shelob's diet plan continues to include large numbers of their upper management, despite the fact they are rather high in cholesterol. Do you have wifi there in Mordor? I was thinking of visiting (on that subject, cleaning up that rather unsightly and foul-smelling marsh surrounding your home would probably do wonders for tourism) but only if I can bring my tablet to check my email. |

Not to be mean (okay... it TOTALLY is meant to be), *any* picture of you that comes up on a google search is not good for your dating life Bobby boy, horns or not. Of course the fact that you can smoke cigars rolled out of $1000 bills and can drive a new Ferrari for every day of the month is surely a pretty good equalizer.
Come to think of it, I want to date Bobby Kotick. |

| It's an apples-to-oranges comparison I think. Someone who wants a multimedia device will settle for reading ebooks on a Kindle Fire even though it has an inferior reading experience to the dedicated Kindle Readers. Someone who just wants to read a book will surely get something like the Nook or the Kindle Paper White. There may come a time when the multimedia tablets have screens and functions every bit as good as dedicated e-readers, but that time hasn't come yet. Even when it does, there will always be the issue of price - why pay for a fully-featured tablet if all you want is an e-reader which costs much less? |

4. Street Fighter vs. Tekken? 8. Don't Starve
People saving their money for the big sale I suppose. Street fighter was the midweek sale (which lasts from Tuesday afternoon til Friday afternoon it seems), and Don't Starve was a new release, so they are just temporary visitors to the list. |
