Blue,

It's too late to matter but the headline could use a little work in terms of Grammar; perhaps some punctuation.

Sony's DCUO Make Good Plan
Reads like Bizarro saying Sony's DCUO comes up with a good plan

Perhaps
Sony's DCUO Describes its "Make Good Plan"

Great, now everybody still playing is going to look like Batman. All 4 people. So much for originality.

While most of the PC servers are ghost towns, part of the reason is that a lot of users have re-rolled and moved to just a handful
1 PvE server
1-2 PvP servers

The rest of 5-8 server, forget about it. Complete ghost towns.

As for the 2-3 populated servers, most people just hang out in the Watch Tower to wait to get into their queues. So you don't see them roaming the streets anymore.

Though every now and then there is a big Hero vs Villain battle royale in the Metropolis park / beach / etc. They try to schedule it via the forums and /shout.

Some of the Facebook comments apparently think they're giving everyone a Batman-styled bust / statue.

When as near as I can tell, they're saying they're giving all of the affected toons a Batman-styled helmet piece.

I could see parents sheltering their 3-5 year old kids about the whole Osama / 9-11 / extremist / etc thing

And to be honest, after some point the news just stopped talking about him. Eventually they talked about him as much as a lot of foreign politicians and heads of state that I wouldn't know much about.

That ALL being said, unless they were around 1999 they should at least know the basics.

It's not like it was the USS Cole bombing, which a number of civilians never really cared about. This was a big flippin' deal that was talked about for years, cost a lot of lives, and a big US landmark.

Will the game still need the "earwax hack?"

IE, when released the game had no crosshair

Said hack was:
1) Put eraser-end of pencil in ear
2) Fire your gun at a wall
3) Rub the eraser's ear wax on the screen
4) Now you have a cross hair, with bonus transparency effect

I can understand why some people are stoked, I know a few.

9/11 had a personal impact on me (though not as much as some others) but...

10 years later
killed, not captured
etc

It just doesn't have much of an emotional / satisfaction impact on me.

Though I am mindful of reprisals, I really doubt his absence is going to make much of an impact on the cells...

Meanwhile the 10th anniversary of 9/11 is coming up. With this happening, I'd be hesitant to go to any major-populated events or even some places on the anniversary.

Sony says it is old...and not in the US....but still a good idea to close any accounts that are with Sony.

But it also says that names, addresses, DoBs, etc were taken... my guess from a different server.

It's quite a good game. But it's a poor MMOG.

I can agree.

It's a fun game: action-oriented, creating a hero, fighting in the DC realm, etc. Honestly, playing the game with a game pad is fun... not Arkham Asylum fun but still fun. A lot better than other games and their auto-hit method.

That all being said the MMO part is where it fails. The game doesn't promote team-play until a *little* bit in the middle when they introduce the optional Alerts.

Then the end-game is *all* about Raids and Hard-Mode-Alerts so you have to deal with newly-minted 30s not knowing how to play their role.

Then again it *still* does a better job promoting teaming than Champions Online did (but nowhere as much as City of Heroes did).

Is it worth $15 USD a month? Probably not, especially since you can reach lvl 30 in 15-20 hours. Rather-rinse for the 13 current trees (6 power sets, 2 trees a-piece, and Iconic) and you can have your fill of the game in 1-2 months.

A cheaper price of F2F would be good though.

My son just got hired at Wal Mart and they needed to see the BC.

I find that hard to believe, as I've never even seen mine.

I recall vividly having to bring mine in when I was being hired as a teen-ager at the various stores I worked.

I imagine it had something to do with proving I was really 16-or-older, personally I would've started working @ 15 if I had the chance.

I don't recall if I needed it for this job, I did all of my entrance stuff 10 years ago (but I've only been a full-timer for the last 5).

But I would imagine it would help prove identity since big corporations have to worry espionage and stuff. As a way to kick off the identity check.

I have to admit, using Obama and Osama in the same sentence or paragraph I sometimes have to give a slight pause to make sure I'm not just about to mess up. I screw up names/phrases all the time that have a lot more differences than 1-character.

That being said, you'd think the news would be a bit more strict about this.

How long until Trump starts saying he wants the REAL DEATH CERTIFICATE?

Oh jeebus, what little respect I had for Trump went out the window with that whole thing.

I'm not saying I had a lot of respect for Trump in the first place, but the whole "birth certificate" thing was just a waste.

I can understand rich or eccentric people doing or saying something silly to bring a broader issue to the public's mind but this wasn't even that kind of event.

Meanwhile HOW much airtime did this whole thing get? I didn't want to hear anything about it and would change the channel when it got mentioned yet it was on the news a bunch.

The only thing I liked was John Stewart's reaction to the the news networks claiming they were happy this non-issue is now closed. Meanwhile it was the PRESS that turned it into the publicized issue; they could've ignored Trump and discussed things of import.

As for all servers, Sony supposedly gave a reason why last-minute they decided to not let PCs play w/ PS3s but I doubt it was a good one.
The reason I heard was that PC and PS3 use completely different authentication systems. PS3 using PSN (this is why on PS3 you don't have to put in a l/p to start play) and PC uses... something different (I forget what).

That is also the reason the PS3 version never got a lifetime option for subscription. You could not charge what they were asking for a lifetime subscription because of PSN payment limitations. Whatever the PC was using could.

The fact that PC and PS3 were on different servers was the main reason I never got into this. I have a few friends that were interested but only gamed on PS3.

Thinking back, that sounds like what I remember reading.

It's a shame; from what I hear the PS3 population is still going strong even though the PC population is dying. This would've done away with the population issues.

The game is amazingly simple.

A friend of mine who has never really played a MMO before hit the level cap inside a week IIRC.

I got 1/2 way there in one night on the beta. But I do not know if EXP was accelerated or not.

As for everyone on the same servers. FFXI has done this since day one. Yes there are more than one server but anyone from any region can play on any server. Them playing on PC, PS2/3, 360 does not matter either.

Agreed on the simple: hitting the level cap is very quick: 15-20 hours if you don't try too hard.

It looks like they tried to cater to the casual player, something that might occur a lot on the PS3s, but perhaps over-did it.

And we see what happens when you develop an MMO for the console and then port it to the computer.

A lot of people complain about various things.

Personally I have a blast playing it with the gamepad so I don't have much issue with anything.

The only 3 issues I have are:

  • Higher-res textures would be nice.

  • More visual options would be nicer.

  • Population after 2 months made the PuG queues take way too long.

  • People playing on mouse+keyboard obviously have targeting woes, but it's not like the game is unplayable.

Meanwhile people in Champions Online were complaining that we had TOO many powers in our power bar, while DCUO had people complaining we had too few.

I personally like the way DCUO did it though I would like more load-outs.

Here I was hoping they would put everyone on the same servers.

Its not like it can't be done.

I don't play many MMO's, but the only time I've seen that is when they've done the equivalent of shards or zones.

Like in Champions Online, you can hope across map-instances to be with the people you want (so long as the one you wan't isn't full). To get by the naming issue they have toon@account.

I'm glad they're doing this. There are only a handful of populated servers. My main is on the 2nd most populated PvP server and queue times stink.

Now I'm just worried about how this big merge is going to affect our names.

When I read something like "Facebook is part of Google" I would assume that means someone is suggesting that Google owns Facebook (like it does YouTube).

But last I checked, Google does not own FaceBook therefore since Google doesn't own Facebook then eRe4s3r's comment is valid. Then again maybe I'm just not that current on the tech business news.

If you're using Google results as a way to base "part of" then technically all of the web and any object or idea listed in Wikipedia is a prt of Google.

Did enjoy the season opener, but just not as much as before, not sure what was missing. But still looking forward to episode 2

I enjoyed it, though I have to agree... I liked it a little less than season-openers of the past couple of years.

I'm just hoping they don't "Merlin" Dr Who. I realize they are 2 completely different situations but still.

I enjoyed season 1 of Merlin a fair amount. Eventually it started to be a joint-venture with the US and I have to say I eventually started to feel ho-hum about it. I don't know if I just felt bored with it, or something changed due to the whole US thing.

I don't know if the two are related since it's not atypical for me to stop enjoying a great shows by S2 or S3 (see Heroes).

The tone of Dr Who was ever-so-slightly different. And with all of the hype of shots being taken in the US I'm just hoping it doesn't change too much. Though I loved the occasional dig

    Dr: They won't shoot.
    River (off camera): They're Americans!
    Dr: Don't Shoot!

I'm interested to see where they're going, as the "room" River and Rory found themselves seemed to be a replica (or re-use) of the un-answered room of "The Lodger"

Im also wondering if River's past is going to be revealed to be involved with the events of the opener.

Also, Mark Sheppard for the win! Man, I love each-and-every one of his guest spots. He's the guest-spot-king!

Multi-player and collaborative games are fun, but some of us just want single player. And some of us want to finish off the story after the last game's closing scenes.
