I do know that I have this need/calling/inner voice telling me that there is more out there than I can logically explain away through science.

Yes, it's the unconcious mind trying to sublimate the irrational fear of your own mortality and place in the universe. There is nothing in the universe that cannot be explained with science. If there's something we don't understand yet it's only a matter of time before we do.

Don't forget that we're all subjected to religious conditioning on this planet regardless of where you were raised. It's simply a matter of degrees regarding how much you've been conditioned. Engaging in some form of psychotherapy can help you deal with the irrationality and free you from the need of a universal parent archetype.

The world will be a considerably better place when the majority are weened of the deity concept and have the strength to deal with reality head on.

As for this one, I'll definitely wait for a demo.

And a ton of reviews to boot. This game will either be great or suck major balls.

The animists and totemists felt they were right, same with the polytheists. Now the monotheists believe they're right. The fact is, they were all wrong and still are.

The belief in a higher power is one solely predicated on the irrational - analogous reasoning versus empirical. This is understandable as we are irrational creatures by nature. Rationalism and sublimating irrational fears in a cold and hostile universe is a difficult thing to achieve. Most people are simply too afraid to confront reality as it is and need the irrational comfort of some sort of all powerful deity(ies) that looks out for them and cares for them.

I understand why most people need to delude themselves into believing in a deity. However, as we move farther into the information age and people become more educated overall - and science continues to progress - those irrational needs will decline.

"It was amazing, this mystic business. You tell them a lie, and then when you don't need it any more you tell them another lie and tell them they're progressing along the road to wisdom. Then instead of laughing they follow you even more, hoping that at the heart of all the lies they'll find the truth. And bit by bit they accept the unacceptable."

NWN2 is will certainly be a hell of a lot more "D&D" than DDO is. If WOTC doesn't completely have it's head up its ass it should be making a Forgotten Realms MOG.

Liberal ethos? You mean like being able to use rudimentary grammar correctly? The conservative ethos is that ignorance is bliss.

Bastards should have opened the studio in Canada.

Anyway, anyone actually know what this game is about?

15. MP3 Delimiter? Mar 10, 2006, 14:46 Halsy

Anyone know a good - and hopefully free - MP3 delimiter? Since I got my ipod nano I'm going nuts with the various volumes of different songs and really need to flatten them out consistently.

32. Nulear Waste Mar 9, 2006, 14:25 Halsy

Why the hell would they have an alarm - and an annoying one at that - that beeps every second? Would it really be so hard to have one that sounds when something actually goes wrong?

All this nuclear waste being buried, terrorism abounding, all adds up to Fallout coming to pass. Maybe we should all build a Vault 13 together - just make sure we have an abundant supply of water chips so we can stay snug and safe while the world mutates around us. When the last chip breaks down - several generations later - we'll send Enah's descendent into the Wasteland to battle mutants and rad scorpions to find us a new one and save the Vault.

Could be the sway bar and that's easy enough to check. Just look under the front end and see if it's snapped at the joint or not. I had that problem once before, don't recall it so much making sounds when I pulled to the left but I could feel it for sure.

31. Re: StarForce 2 Demo Mar 9, 2006, 13:54 Halsy

I'm just wondering how many of those people are letting the publishers know directly as well as that's the most effective way to voice your concerns

If the publishers are that out of touch with potentital customers and fans to be so clueless to the fact that gamers overwhelmingly hate Starforce than they deserve for their games not to sell. Why should the onus be on the gamer to clue these guys in? If the publishers are too lazy to ask, 'Hrm, why aren't my games selling, because I know they're good games?' than tough titty for them.

Each clan has its own style but the player is not just going to a trainer and is given a fighting skill, the player must earn the skill through mini games and practice to acquire the full use of the skill. This is definitively different than other games.

Uh how? MUD's have had this grind sort of system for decades. Grinding just to get skills, gee, that sounds like too much fun.

Asian MOG's are just too bizarre for most North Americans.

8. Superman... Mar 8, 2006, 02:56 Halsy

WTF is wrong with you guys? Supes stands for truth, justice, and the American way (that being something infinitely more moral and good than the reality of the real American way, but hey, at least his heart is in the right place, naieve though he may be).

If one allows oneself to swallow up the sugar-coated, jingoistic bullshit without thinking about it, it's heady stuff! Plus you understand what republicans actually believe is reality, although it's not.

So just sit back and forget the reality of exploitation and opression and just enjoy it for what it is...a fantastical story which embraces all Americana should be, yet isn't.

57. Re: Saw the X-men 3 trailer during 24 Mar 7, 2006, 17:45 Halsy

I think V is going to be good. It's got a stellar cast. And anything with John Hurt in it is usually better than not. If you've never seen "The Hit" with him, Tim Roth, and Terrance Stamp you need to see it. Brilliant English gangster film.

My only concern is that the Wachowski's are so much more into the visuals than the story, and it's the story that's really important for V. Anyway, from some of the previews I've read from people who have seen it they're all very positive.

P.S. I remember the old arcade game Star Castle. That was a good one.
