The more the merrier!
But I never played Borderlands 1. Would I need to?

You get some back story of some of the other Vault Hunters and such and some on going jokes, but honestly you don't really need to play the first one to enjoy the second.

Does Linux lack a killer app?

Good gosh no.

It lacks about 1000 killer apps.

I was just thinking it not being Windows was the Killer app..

Seriously I don't know how you people can stand using Windows it's horrible.

The Order: 1886 delayed to 2015.

129 Years and we made fun of Duke Nukem: Forever's dev cycle.

I have a WiiU, but the handful of Wii games that I have don't have online functions. I honestly haven't even tried using Wii games on it.

I would assume, that since it'll run a Wii emulator, it won't work.

The WiiU doesn't use an emulator for Wii game compatibility, it's running a similar hardware architecture as the Wii and is binary compatible. There are some minor hardware/software differences that will break somethings of course..

People play games on boxes hitched to their TVs using gamepads without a mouse and keyboard?

I feel like a stranger in a strange land.

I believe it, it's a electronic hobbyist dream computer.. easy access to IOs, small enough to fit into robotic projects, low power consumption, yet powerful enough to run a light weight linux desktop and videos at 1080p..

I have two, one setup on my electronic work bench, I've been playing with a few projects with it and I can code right on the thing. And another I've setup with a Media center OS. hitched directly to my TV.. it's a better media player than any of my consoles..

Several years ago I dropped Xoops (A PHP based CMS) and switched my community site to DNN (.aspx based CMS). At the time the Xoops people on the forum were all over me stating 'hope you enjoy your site being hacked' and such. How many times I have been hacked since running my site since 2008 under DNN? Zero. How many PHP based sited been compromised? See above plus other security sites. I love being validated.

PHP or any server side language is only as secure as the person that writes it. Most exploits are done via form injection, which the Language the server side code is using isn't necessarily the issue. This could allow access to the database.. Since most PHP sites are one of the normal top 5 CMS systems it's easy for people to exploit them. In this case If you read the article the exploit was caused via the git repository that hosted the website source code. it was most likely hacked through some command line git utility not the web interface.

Well I would use Steam on my Linux machine if it wouldn't be Ubuntu only and if Valve didn't insist on infesting my source.list with some black box repositories that could contain ANYTHING.
Yes, yes, bla, bla, entitled Linux user. I don't care.

And yes, I still use Steam on my Windows machine EXTENSIVELY but that's because I couldn't give a damn who's spying on that machine and whether draconian DRM is deeply nested within the bowels of the system. It's unsuitable for serious work for me.
Though it doesn't mean I like that.

I have it running fine on Fedora 17.. It can in fact run on many distributions..

Everything I'm hearing about Linux is that it's busy ripping off everything that made Windows a pain in the ass and importing none of the good shit.

Well it sounds like you don't even know what Linux is.

Linux isn't one OS, hell it's not even an OS by itself. It's a collection of software with a kernel.. There are hundreds of distributions as heavy or light weight as you want.. Not one company or entity owns it.. If you don't like how one distribution does things you can switch to another. Google made their own OS (Android) around the Linux Kernel.

This does complicate gaming a bit though...

I have no idea why Netflix doesn't charge more. $8 / month is an amazing bargain for what you get. I'd pay more if they were able to offer more content, although if they did that greedy studios would probably try and squeeze more out of them.

Hush you.
