News Comments > Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm Demo
20. Re: No subject Jan 14, 2008, 00:15 Boston

I don't think that was it, because the widescreen support in their 2nd expansion wasn't the "right way" either. My theory is that they're just being stubborn. Too many people have been asking for widescreen, so they're basically saying "hey, F U! dont tell us how to do our job!"

yes yes but consider the fact that the original Dawn of War had rudimentary widescreen support from the get go (hud squished and all), and they took it away with a patch with no explanation offered. And no, don't think it was for gameplay balance, since one of the selling points for their 2nd expansion was "widescreen support" which really didn't work.

It's like they really hate widescreen - which is odd considering their company of heroes games and even older homeworld games support widescreen flawlessly.

Why they never put proper widescreen support to ANY of their Warhammer games is beyond me.

26. Farewell HD DVD Jan 6, 2008, 11:59 Boston

HD DVD was destined to be the format of choice for indenpendent movies and home movies because DRM and its expensive licencing fees were not mandatory - not to mention that HD DVD content could be written to regular DVD's...
Blu ray's position toward customers is basically "F U. If you can read and write HD content, you must be a pirate."
People don't necessariy make the choice that's better for them in the long run. It's sad.

This game isn't actually too bad, if you've never played other shooters.

I obviously didn't post it three times, as indicated by the post id. Use your brain if you have one.

Dude! I remember this thing. It's that game a kid is making alone. Didn't think it had any chance of getting released.

theyarecomingforyou's post says "12-year headstart." Doesn't say anything about developers actively using it or even 3d support. So, zirik, just let it go.

News Comments > PC Gaming Rebounds?
42. Re: Awwww no.... Apr 23, 2007, 18:44 Boston

Plus, as CGW podcast noted a while back,
Given how much more powerful modern pc's are compared to ps3 or xbox360 (at least on the graphics side with NVidia's 8800 series and ATI's r600s), the console ports on pcs will look significantly inferior to what's really capable on pcs. The publishers simply won't dish out the development money required to soup up graphics for platforms such as pc where the market is comparably small.

I was pretty surprised by the online community's reaction to HDMI 1.2. Unless you work for a film/music industry and plan to rip movies or sound samples from XBox's HD DVD drive for post processing, it means absolutely nothing. If MS kept its mouth shut nobody would've spotted the difference.
