I liked Crackdown but... |

I liked Crackdown but to me it was really grazing the surface of what the whole design COULD have been. It was more of a developer build of some loose ideas but nothing solid. It was a Sandbox and nothing with a couple of cool tools and Matrix style effects.

I'm still buying the console version regardless, but their word means nothing to me. They said there was not going to be a PC version of the original either.

this year? I doubt it. |

DX10 has only been out for one year. I highly doubt we'll see it's successor in it's final form this year. A beta or a RC for vendors to try out--- maybe.

I love Coop but... |

this is just too buggy as it stands to be fun. If one of the players dies the game crashes. I'll wait for a more reliable release to come out, if and when it ever does. All the same kudos to the maker for attempting to bring more coop love to the HL universe.

South Park? |

So... why would I want to watch a high definition video of a show that uses a computer to animate cardboard 2 dimensional characters? Don't get me wrong, I love South Park's hilarity. But the usual turnover time for South Park studios to animate their show is 3-5 days according to their website. They already have standard definition 480p on Live, but if they are more expensive then their current standard def I can live without it.

Is there anyone out there who pre-ordered DNF in 1999 to 2001-ish that still has it preordered? Morbid Curiousity must know.

DVD playback bug |

I had a system crash and reboot using these new nvidia drivers if I ran PowerDVD 7 on WinXP. I had to downgrade to the 84.xx drivers to get it working again. And that "you have no SLI" message box is completely annoying too. I think I'll wait till another major release before I try these drivers out. Too buggy.

Re: : The authorized Stanley Kubrick.. |

This is a post I made about about Blue 6 years ago on my old webpage which still remains in a Geocities graveyard long forgotten and unused for.. 5 years. http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Labyrinth/7387/stan_n_blue.htm I sent it to Blue when I made it but he never responded. If he did read it maybe he didn't see the humor in it. Or I'm not funny. Probably the latter-- I'll be blunt. I used to love his (Kubrick's) movie's nontheless and being a 19 year old with too much time on his hands I thought I was cleverly funny at the time. In light of the Out of the Blue post I thought I would dredge up this dry joke and maybe pulp some humor from it's dried up husk! The "original" page: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Labyrinth/7387/
Cheers! Wookiestick.

The bandwidth moniter is still there, albeit not right clickable from the taskbar. It's in the file menu under 'view'. I have no incredible gripes with Steam, but to me this seems to be just a bloated UI. I see no more advantages. It's just a larger more flashier interface, which I've already shrunk down back to the more "classic" small design. They promise in the future to fix the friends list in a futute update.

Theres a new version of ctmod (UI) for this. The main page at www.ctmod.net is unreliable to download it now. Anyone know of any mirrors for the new version that works with the 1.7 patch?

If you're installing the patch.. |

If you're installing the patch be patient, as it takes a really long time for a little 16 MB file. I'm running an Athlon 64 3700 with 512 of RAM (waiting on the other 512 stick through a return policy warranty though heh) and it probably took like 6-8 minutes to finish, although I wasn't timing it. I was watching a DVD on the comp and it started stuttering upon running the patch so I had to stop the multitasking and let the computer focus all it's work on the 1.02 patch. As it looks like from the posts below, it modifies files rather than completely replaces them. Proabably saves on the file size though.
