The Blood CM is a Blood total conversion (TC) of Monolith's 1997 shooter on the eduke32 port of the Duke Nukem 3D source code. While it is true that there are DOSbox playable Blood games out there, they still inherit all the limitations of s 25-30 year old OS that it's designed to run on. The game is not really designed to play past 800 by 600 without either getting extreme slow down and/or graphical artifacts. Blood CM supports more modern conveniences like in-game key remapping (mouse, KB, and joystick controller) and high resolutions.
It is not based on the Blood source code as the IP is in open source hell despite Jason Hall wanting it released to the public. A bankrupt Atari holds the rights to it and refuses to relinquish it without a disproportionate amount of money for it (million(?s) according to Devolver Digital). For this reason the monster AI and game behavior is not perfect to the original game, but it comes quite close to it that you won't notice it unless you're a humongous Blood fan. As Blood itself is based on a modified version of Duke 3d's source code, this TC is a lot of fun and faithful if not a carbon copy of the original game.
