I wanted to like civ 5 so bad but it's just not to be. For both expansions I reinstalled. Semi enjoying myself until I get to the point my army is stopped from taking a city because some workers/scouts from a neutral civ is blocking the way. What a piece of shit.

Not surprised, eink style ebook readers seem to be at a dead end. Amazon pricing them at cost and really not much more you can add to them.

Another mediocre mmo released a year too early that will be f2p in a year. Nothing interesting to see here.

Well, preorder bonus is confusing as fuck. Any race can play any faction as a pre order bonus? That's kind of huge, and makes me think they realize they game will be f2p in a year. Mad you didn't get the game at release? Welp now for only 20 dollars you can get the same bonuses!

Man I would kill for a story based spy game. The imperial agent storyline was the only one worth a damn in tor.

Free? A slap in the face to all those who purchased the game years ago.

Valve lets you download a 5 year old game for free for one day. Yay.

Never ceases to amaze me how angry people get when a company does a nice thing.

Holy shit and capcom hinted at a update to marvel at evo. Something is up here, because this really doesn't make sense. People might not ever be able to buy the dlc characters after this, just when I was starting to think a all digital future won't be terrible.

I've become very skeptical of MMOs in general, because I always end up disappointed. WoW is still the king, despite everything that has come since.

I think we are in a very similar situation as when everquest was king. Game was good(though in hindsight you could argue this)and had tons of content. Even if a new game added some new gimmick it still had to deal with the I hit max what to do now problem, when everquest you had ton to do since expansions never became outdated. Wow though, not only did it have fantastic gameplay, tons of new gimmicks but a decent endgame. All 3 combined and you had a hit, when most games have only 1 or 2 of these features, and very rarely decent endgame.

Rift had the endgame and gimmicks but mediocre gameplay. Swtor had the gimmicks but also the gameplay was nothing special nor was the endgame etc etc.

It's really hard to make a mmo.

Hahahaha wut. When I was playing beta I was thinking, this is ass but it's beta maybe its like a year away. Looks like we will have yet another failed mmo that merges servers and goes f2p by this time next year.

Jesus this game was hard to understand. I remember getting to near the end of the game wondering why I did no damage. Had no clue about lvling up summons or anything. Good thing they were so overpowered and had so much hp you had to try to die in this game.

Still better then ff9.

Is it looking through rose colored glasses of me to say that like Quakes effect on FPS, Thief was a huge influence (perhaps the biggest) on the stealth genre?

I realize I might be lynched for this but, I feel metal gear solid was a much bigger influence to be honest. Also thief was hardly the first game with stealth.

There's also Wildstar. It's similar to WoW but with more tactical combat. There's a decent amount of hype for it.

Tactical combat lol. I remember seeing a video how one of their super innovative things was a icon when a mob does a don't stand in fire attack. Hard time seeing the guy able to say that with a straight face.

If you asked most MMO fans to describe what they really want in the next, best MMO, most will describe Ultima Online, but made with modern tech.

UO was all about the pvp. No pvp game has been as successful as everquest, let alone wow. Your statement doesn't add up. I do definitely see a vocal minority in every mmo thread that wants pvp in everything however.

The whole combat model of modern MMO's needs to die but they can't really move beyond it towards a more action oriented darksiders model because of latency issues and the fact that most MMORPG players have the reflexes of retarded monkeys.

Play Tera sometime, or look at some blade and soul videos. They are pretty much what you are describing, korea has a ton of excellent action combat mmos. It's just american mmo developers seem to be unable to deliver. The secret world was a fucking embarrassment compared to tera.

Okay, ill bite, in what way did ESO suck? Other than being an early beta and having a lot of bugs I saw nothing about the game that had me thinking the game sucked. There were some aspects that I think they need to change.

The combat is straight up terrible. I know es games are not known for their combat but at least I can tell when I hit something in skyrim.

And I really never got the hype surrounding gw2. It's like people completely forgot that gw1 was so boring.

Yeah was really wary of hirez but this game is too much damn fun. Much more interesting then dota/dawngate/league imo. If it wasn't how tribes went down I would put down the 30 dollars to guarantee every god released(unless they pull a s2 games and go jk).

Looks amazing, surprised how similar the ui is to galciv 2 though. But hell after so many disapointing 4x games the past few years(civ 5 and elemental come to mind),I'll be happy with a playable modern 4x that doesn't have crushing design flaws. Who am I kidding, when it comes to stardock lately it's probably going to be a buggy mess for a while.

That reminds me, was the ai of twilight of the arnor ever patched? I remember at release having to go back to the last expansion since the ai had no idea how to play the game anymore.

to say that nudity doesnt exist on the major consoles is astoundingly ignorant. heavy rain, god of war ,mass effect, max payne 3, duke nukem, dantes inferno, red dead redemption. L.A. noire, dragon age, gta, shadows of the damned, and on and on and on...

Thanks for making my point for me. All the games you listed are not japanese.

Funny thing is that Elfen Lied is Dutch for Elven Song. Funny that the Japanese should call it that.

Anyway, it seems that as long as it's Manga/Anime, it's okay, but if it's Western violence, then it's wrong. It's just stupid cultural "protection" crap.

Something to keep in mind is that in general western games are in fact more violent. Also nudity in games pretty much doesn't exist on the major consoles so I don't see how it has anything to do with where the game came from. It's just a case of games being treated differently from other media because it's seen as for kids. Something that is no different from what goes on in the west.

Something else that might surprise some people:cowboy bebop originally only aired the first 12 episodes because of it's content due to controversy. Anything goes in japan is a myth.
