I'm not much of an RTS player so I wanted a demo to experience the pace of the game. Now I'm just not interested in even trying a demo...
Oh and good job totally derailing the thread, idiots.

Here is the actual quote from the article that I'm sure nobody here or at LinuxToday bothered to read:
Veghte said, “If you’re just starting your testing of Vista, with the [Windows 7] Release Candidate and the quality of that offering, I would switch over and do your testing on the [Windows 7] Release Candidate, and use that going forward.” This quote was aimed at enterprise IT managers, testing out operating systems in their company. Of course it makes sense to start testing Win7 now in an enterprise environment instead of using Vista which will just be obsolete soon. But of course sense doesn't stop Linux zealots from saying OMG M$ HATES THEIR OWN PRODUCT ROFL and feeling a sense of smug superiority. I'm no Microsoft apologist but I think Linux zealots are even dumber than Mac zealots. |

The microfilm suit reminds me of the big suit that David Byrne wore in Stop Making Sense...

complete.utter.bollocks. Did you skip your meds today? I hate to say it but Derek's got a (poorly elucidated) point. 3D Realms owes us nothing. It's not their fault people invested so much emotion into a game that had so few details surrounding it. Anyone who actually entertained the thought of this game coming out after the "media blackout" was foolish.

No kidding. I picked up HoMM2 for $2 at Salvation Army, there's no way I'm paying 3x that for its predecessor.

Comic book movies are just the old Rambo-type movies with a thick coating of nonsense pop philosophy, and all the proles eat it up and call it deep. Whatever. |

Daikatana was made by Ion Storm, not 3d Realms. At least Daikatana was actually released, made money, and developed in only 3 years, not 13. Hell, 3 years is actually a short amount of time compared to today's games. I can't imagine wasting 17% of my life (assuming one lives to ~75) on something that will never come to fruition. He meant "Daikatana-type" stories. That missing hyphen threw me off as well... |

Making History Gold is a decent WW2 grand strategy game. Definitely worth $10 IMO. The original edition got 6 of 8 on Out of Eight but some of the problems have been fixed in the Gold edition (i.e. you can play as any nation, the AI is better all around, you can start in 1933)

| The matchmaking needs improvement, but I have had no problems with the official servers in months. The only time I have server problems is when I end up on unofficial servers. One such server I joined had too few slots for versus, and the survivors were instantly demolished by about 40 AI Hunters. But, I usually end up on Valve's official servers and I have no problems with them. I suppose it helps that I'm about 30 miles from the server farm... I imagine I'd be telling a different story if I was in Europe or Aus/NZ. |

I'm about ready to give up on on-line play for this one. Not because of the lag, but the hacks. It's getting almost as bad as CS. In the past day I've run into wall hackers, auto-targeters, and invincible zombies. Wow, that's just unlucky. I haven't noticed any cheaters in this game at all, and I've had it since November.

better questions imo are why anyone thinks the military has their best interests in mind and doesnt plan on using them like a disposable tool.. and for those that know this and still choose to do it, why would they sell their soul for such an opportunity? This is a good thing... the lower end of the bell curve fills the ranks, leaving the upper end to get things done. |

Why would you buy a second copy of TOB and make a second account for it? Am I out of the loop on some sorta memo or something? Account hijacking insurance I guess... common sense usually works for me but I guess some people need to pay for it. |

| If this was like SimCity with real pollution and hydrology models it would be cool but this sounds firmly in the "edutainment" category. |
