Blue, you echo my take on Spartacus nearly thought for thought. Somewhere in the middle of season 3 I realized it had morphed from being a silly guilty pleasure to a genuine good show that had my complete attention.
Side note, Spartacus charging up the hill in chase of Crassus last night was about the coolest moment I have ever seen in anything.

Not a terrible game, but, really? id is how many of us got into gaming Further, I bet most of the current readers don't know that Blue'sNews began as an id software news site, *the* go-to for all things Doom and Quake on the early Internet. Those of us that have been checking in for 15 or so years still kinda think of Blue's and id as going together like fries and salt. |

Shocking, a couple dozen people on Blues complaining about a game they don't even play.
Meanwhile, 24 million people bought and played GTA4, making it one of the most successful games of all time, and this trailer seems to offer more and better of the same.
I'm in. |

Edit: Uploading at 16MB/sec. Wee You and apparently no one else. This torrent is barely budging. Which is a shame, 'cause I'm ready to seed the hell out of it.
(edit: took about an hour, but this thing finally popped open a little. Hope it sticks, I'm now feeding what I have at 10x the speed I received it)

This option/feature of starting your own server was clearly presented in the game when I was in. I am not under the impression you can launch a listen server for Mann Up mode.

Right now, at noon EST, the co-op mode has a 68 minute queue.
That's worse than last night.
I'm never gonna get to play this thing. |

Or does that count as being the creator? Of course it counts. But if we are being truly fair, we need to recognize that it was built on a Valve platform, which gives them significant measures of contribution, and frankly wasn't perfected until Valve took over its development. |

"Be Here Now" looks absolutely crushing while simultaneously being a must-see.
But I say that as a person that has had quite a lot of cancer touch my life. In fact, I've always suspected that the ubiquity of cancer in our society is why Andy's death had such an impact, considering that technically he was an unknown starring in a trashy, not particularly well rated cable TV show (I'm a fan, but you have to realize it had only about 1 million regular viewers). Somehow his diagnosis and death resonated far beyond his fame, and it was educational for the world to witness how that disease can so easily destroy the strongest of us at any time.
Anyway, I'm kickin into the start, even though it has already made its goal. And I"m looking forward to the final product, even if I bawl through the whole thing. |

I have four HDTVs, and the oldest, a 32 inch Vizio is no longer able to receive certain premium HD programming since this "update." Apparently it predates HDCP's wide adoption. I can't remember how long I've owned it. Probably 6 years now?
It is always a mistake when a provider chooses to remove service that a customer has been using for many years. "Buy a new TV" is a silly answer. I pay nearly $150 a month for my DirecTV service. They should grandfather existing accounts.

(Sorry to interrupt the flame war)
The demo sucked. I was really looking forward to the game, but it fell totally flat for me.
And then, months later I saw the game on Steam sale for, what, like $7 or so, and being a big fan of Epic I decided to get it anyway.
Surprise, the game itself (after admittedly very low expectations) was actually quite fun. Not great, but fun. I've played it through twice.
I gotta wonder if that demo hurt its sales.
All that said, ya, I admit I would have been disappointed if I had paid $60. Someone needs to figure out a way to develop games like this at a quarter the cost and pass that on to the consumer. |

The new Medal of Honor was a disappointment. IIRC, first third was quite well done, and then it was like the development team ran out of money and just shat out the rest as quickly as they could.
It was a great series in its day. I hope they get back on track. |

| Brings to mind the opening of Ahn'Qiraj in WoW on Hyjal, which at the time was home to several of the "professional" guilds. Took both sides week of coordinated faction grinding to open the gates, and pretty much the whole damn server logged in to watch the opening. I recall I had just bought a new, state of the art video card (forget which) and it was brought to its knees at the event. Just hundreds and hundreds of players everywhere you looked. |
