Hopefully, this time they'll address some of the lackluster character designs, make it easier to animate (currently you cant animate.. just use existing skeletons), and more importantly keep the ease of modding!

I'm so excited! I wonder if I'll be able to port those robes I did over to the new engine?

The fact that you'd rather play with computer controlled teammates than a real person taking one of those roles, or all of them, is rare (I'm making a guess at this, from my own experiences talking to other people).

He's not alone in this.

Truthfully, other (living, breathing) players in a game generally piss me off too much to actually enjoy the game. I would prefer a MMOG where I can play solo, have the din of others around me if I so choose, but enjoyment isn't dependant on coop play.

There are just too many twits out there.

I'd rather have something new then yet-another-sequel, thank you very much...

There's very little that is new in this genre (FPS). At least the NOLF games had a personality that was unique among this type of game.

I'd definitely take a sequel to NOLF than another horror-shooter title.

Thats fairly disappointing. I was kinda' hoping for Cate Archer to make a comeback. Now we just get another horror-action title piled on the stack rather than a rare humor-action title.

I'm sure Monolith will give it their best shot. After all, they did pretty well with Aliens Vs. Predator 2 (highly underrated IMO, but multiplay was really unbalanced). There's no reason to think they can't pull it off.

I still would rather be playing a new NOLF game in 2005 though.

Oh, and from the looks of that released screenshot... their character modeller still can't model armpits. So, if you're reading this Mr. Character Modeller of Monolith, armpits do not start in the middle of a ribcage.

Please do not follow in the footsteps of Contrazct J.A.C.K.
CJ blew, it was boring, unbalanced and it lacked the humor that I love in the Cate Archer series of NOLF games (it also lacked Cate Archer, which is bad IMO).

Please say the humor and decent storytelling will still be there!

...oh, and that screenshot chicken reference is moronic.

So, I'm taking a second lok at these shots, wondering to myself,"Why the hell do these look so bad?". Then it occurs to me, that frickin' "bloom" effect they used in DX:IW is in this game too.

Turn off the "bloom" and the games images/textures become sharper, the color more defined, and higher contrast... oh, and runs better too.

Personally, I don't know why ISA is putting the "bloom" into their games. It just seems like a poor-mans anti-aliasing (y'know... half the quality, twice the cost). Is it just bad AA for consoles that don't support AA?

Strange bug? Jan 21, 2004, 19:03

*** Spoiler Warning ***

This is odd, and could possibly be the developers intention, though I hope not.

I played the demo a second time around, this time avoiding the direct path (from where you start the demo) and circling around to the small bay to the right. I go up the path, intending to sneak up on all the mercenaries from behind to take them out by suprise. When I show up, they're all dead, lying there on the ground. While the guards on the first little island thingy are perfectly fine and oblivious to the mass suicide their buddies had just committed (almost in front of their eyes).

Strange, huh?

So, is this a bug?

oh, and its repeatable...

SO far, as I've only run through the demo for a half-hour. My experience so far has been really positive!

Not quite as open-ended as ones led to believe as the geography "forces" you in certain directions, which is to be expected. However, on more than one occasion I was wishing for a "climb" feature to get up steep rock faces, etc...

Do not like the save game system at all, this checkpoint crap is really old and I hate it. I should be able to save whenever and whereever I please. I hope they change that little feature.

On my mid range system the game runs extraordinarily well! I am really suprised and relieved, its about time something stable comes out for the PC.

The AI is pretty darned good, for all the reasons mentioned earlier. Its a rare thing to come across a lone mercenary, their typically in twos, which makes the silent kill all that much harder.

end report.

It's amazing that our government is spending its money and agents to find out who stole a video game code ::: When he have yet to even catch Osama Bin Laden( man responsibe for the death of thousands of people and human suffering) or other foreign terriorists. Good to know the importand things come first

Look, our government, the executive branch at least, has no intention of finding Osama. He's far too valuable in funding right-wing extremist political policies. As long as that nut is out there cousing trouble, our corrupt president can use him as a wild card for funding all sorts of personal agendas (War in Iraq anyone?).

Jeez, people condemn Clinton for lying to the American public, but Bush has lied and killed hundreds of Americans for his personal vendettas and political machinations.

People, please vote this year...

I dunno... That whole super-soldier / mutant nonsense is pretty old and tired. But those vidoes of gameplay look incredible, and if the multiplayer portion takes place over the large terrain of the island... count me in.

This game almost has me excited. go figure.

Utter Bollards! For the last two years, Mr WS has been telling interviews about DX2 and how revolutionary it was, how it would change the face of gaming and that people will still be finding new ways round levels in 10 years time!

Yeah, well now WS is head of ISA. Having been in and now own a company with about 20 or so people with multiple projects happening, I know that WS is the company "mouth" now (or beaurocrat, you pick derogatory monicker). The rest of the company are the brains and hands now. Its his job to talk about DX2, pump it up in the public eye, whether he really knows whats going on with the project or not.

Who knows, he could have really believed what he was saying. Heck what the team showed him, and depending on the time he actually had to play it, it might've been everything he touted. I'm sure a good chunk of you can relate to being on a fabulous project and watch the ground slip out from underneath it in its last days due to "compromises" that are "necessary" for its continued success (bad sentence... bah, I don't care anymore).

I guess what I'm really trying to say is, give the guy a break. Everyone's entitled to a fuck-up or two, thats just life. And as far as I can tell, this is only fuck-up #1 for Warren, he's worth at least one more.

It'll be interesting to read the post-mortem on GamaSutra.

wah wah wah...

Yeah, DX2 was disappointing... but considering his track record, I think he's worth a second shot at the title? don't you?

DX2 has all the ingredients to make a really great PC game, the problem was that it wasn't cooked long enough. The vision of the game was shortened, compared to the epic size of the original.

Well, at least in interviews he's still saying the right things. I'm still on track with his vision, even if he did stumble a bit on DX2.

bah! I don't care if its a full-blown sequel or not, I just hope they add a few more poly's to the game characters in the next iteration.

They have my vote of confidence that whatever they publish next in the GTA series will be solid and very fun... They just need to ditch those consoles.. lol

Catch the wave of the future.. publish it for the PC only! or
Don't be afraid to go retro... publish it for the PC only! lol

So, Vice City was a parody of Miami in the mid eighties, could Sin City be a parody of Vegas in the sixties.. during the hey-day of the Rat-Pack (and Sinatra's alledged dealings with the Mafia and his friendship with JFK)?

oooo Im all ashiver with the possibilities!

Actually... Sin City was Las Vegas before it was a comic

I'm pretty sure they were taling about the city, and not the publication. Sorry about stealing the wind from your sails there.
