I wish games like HL2, Stalker, Far Cry and UT2004 would hurry up so BF1942 and its crappy engine can be dumped by mod makers.

Oh, you mean the allegations that members of the intelligence community were overruled and unreliable crap was shoehorned into a dossier to make it sound like we were under imminent threat from Iraq, and that the dossier was redrafted several times at the request of the Prime Ministerís press secretary. Well that was all shown to be true in the evidence given to the enquiry, itís just that the retarded judge couldnít bring himself to criticise the institution that appointed him. Without the BBC we would never have heard about the shenanigans going on behind the scene.

"Way to go, BBC--you're still skewing news reports! "

What else did they skew?

Itís going to be dumbed down but itís better than no sequel at all I suppose.

Sheds a tear for vehicle stations, sensors and 64 player carnage.

70. It's all about the Mods baby! Feb 3, 2004, 14:37 Mr Gar

Zephalephelah you're so right. No matter how good the single player is after a month at most it won't be touched again. The cooltacular mods bedroom coders dream up are what I'm waiting for.

39. Soldner more innovative. Feb 3, 2004, 12:16 Mr Gar

HL2 is rapidly becoming a joke of DNF caliber.... Games like "Silent Storm" and "Soldner" have FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE 3D ENVIRONMENTS, which to me is a much more important innovation than that "facial expression technology" crap.

The DNF jokes are about as funny as the Daikatana ones anyway, but I agree Soldner will set a new standard for FPSs with its completely destructible environments.

I wish the guns and characters werenít so fecking huge and bulbous. The original had such a cool dark atmosphere, itís just cartoony now.

31. Re: Inventory system Feb 2, 2004, 04:28 Mr Gar

Theyíve got rid of Vehicle stations for some crappy reason. Now they just spawn every so often at fixed places on the map. Itís definitely going to be a dumber game, but how else do you get mass appeal without aiming at the lowest common denominator. As long as all these extra like vehicle stations, sensor system can be added by some clever modder.

Yep completely riddled. It formats your hard drive now and then too.

After watching that video it looks like theyíve thought about the changes theyíre making. Iím just concerned theyíre trying too hard to please CS kiddies (or broaden the appeal as they put it) who want easy shallow gameplay that takes no time to master.

In the UK thereís a small debate going on at the moment about the role of the media, various ventilation apparatus are heavily encrusted with excrement

What are the player numbers like for XMP. ASE doesnít have master server access so their tiny count might not be accurate. XMP felt (have deleted it now) like a crap version of Tribes 2 to me, and the XMP engine (vehicles handling weapon feedback and feel) is pretty nasty. If the community want it to survive it needs to be ported to a better engine thatís still being supported.

37. Steam is cool Jan 26, 2004, 06:54 Mr Gar

Steam has been working fine for me for months now, and all you need is your password to play HL and itís mods on any computer anywhere.

Anyway, NS just keeps getting better and better. Canít wait till the commercial release, so the team has the resources to let NS truly reach its full potential.
