News Comments > SpellForce, S÷LDNER, Add-ons Planned
5. Re: Soldner Feb 26, 2004, 11:52 Mr Gar

Theyíve said in interviews providing Soldnerís successful, they want an expansion to add features they havenít had time for like naval units, vehicle cockpit views, engine upgrades etc. If the game kicks ass like I hope it does I donít mind paying for quality addons. Itís when the games are shite like The Sims or MOH that it pisses me off.

Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire sounds cool. As long as it's not full price ( I expect a new engine for that) I'll get it. The original kept me going for months.

1. No more Zip please. Feb 25, 2004, 04:27 Mr Gar

Please people for the love of god stop distributing zip files. Itís an old out of date archive format with rubbish compression.

Use winrar or 7zip instead. Thanks.

I remember spotting fixes in some ATI driver changelog for the Lords of the Realm 3 beta ages ago. First time Iíd heard of the game. LOTR 1 was a cool game back in the early 90s so I hope this does turn out ok.

Has anyone done any comparisons between UT2003/4 running on Linux and Windows?

151. Mods Feb 12, 2004, 09:41 Mr Gar

Nothing wrong with mod teams making money out of their hard work. But there must be a reason why BF1942 has been modded so much despite the engine being crap and no proper tools being available. Also HL continues to have loads of mods made for it despite the age.

I bought UT2003 expecting it to be the next big thing in mod land but itís just been overlooked, that canít just be because there was no $1 million competition running.

If people are only making mods for the $1,000,000 doesnít say much for the engine or the community does it.

can't wait for full mods to start coming out.

Donít hold your breath, itís not like any good mods came from the UT2003 engine. Apart from Red Orchestra if you like that sort of thing.

I just want sound occlusion, no move hearing stuff through meters of concrete. Iím assuming they still have built in voice chat too.

They did that with Planetside too. Just before release you got player numbers on servers than you got useless dots.

33. Re: Opera vs. All Feb 10, 2004, 04:45 Mr Gar

Opera's had "keywords in the address bar" for ages, they're called "Nicknames" over there though

You have to have set them up beforehand. In Firefox you can type keywords in and it does a google feeling lucky and loads the first site it finds.

Operaís ok apart from not supporting favicons in the personnel bar or bookmarks and the tabs wonít cycle in a useful order, also AdBlock is hard to live without and you canít use keywords in the address bar.

I love Firefox too, canít wait till they hit version 1. They had to change the name because this project http://firebird.sourceforge.net/ was also called Firebird.

It was the breadth of units I loved the most. You actually felt like you commanded a real army which had a unit for every job.

I hope they keep the depth and variety for the sequel.
