94. hurts economies around the world Apr 23, 2004, 04:32 Mr Gar

ntellectual property theft is a global problem that hurts economies around the world

That argument about piracy harming the global economy is just bullshit. The money people save from stealing software just gets spent elsewhere in the economy, and Iím sure pirated software increases a lot of peopleís productivity as otherwise theyíd be making do without.

Punkbuster is to gaming as Ŗu$h is to intelligence.

Don't be too hard on the guy. Some nasty journalist asked a question he hadnít had the answer written for. You shouldn't expect the man leading the free world to be quick on his feet or capable of thinking for himself.

Please for the love of god vote him out, and with such a huge margin even he can't get away with cheating again.

I think they'll out-develop the US long before resorting to war

Somehow I don't think the US would allow that to happen.

Red Faction? There wasn't much physics involved in the destruction, still it's better than everything being indestructible I suppose.

As for BF2 I can't wait. A whole new engine should allow them to fix the odd feeling infantry combat, VOIP and a commander more also sound excellent.

Doubt it very much. Can't wait to see what the ATI boys come up with though. Competition at its best.

"EA probably hired him to head up their "push it out before it's done" division"

LOL!!!

You just know EA have one of those, right next to the "Milk the franchise till it squeals" division.

They better model bowel movements too. Nothing spoils the immersion more than your character going days without a shit. Keep pushing that realism envelope.

37. So disappointed :( Apr 1, 2004, 04:01 Mr Gar

I've been looking forward to this for ages, longing for something as good as DF:2 was in its day.

Unfortunately in its current state (hopefully very early beta for all our sakes) it's shite. Flashpoint is miles better than this and that game's 3 years old now.

The physics (can we have some momentum please?) is almost as bad as the weapon animations, and the level is so drab and devoid of detail I don't care how big it is, it all looks the same.

I hope it's not beyond repair but lots of it needs scrapping and starting again. Mr Sheen isn't going to help this one.

At least there's Soldner.

"Yeah, and its a good thing I still only need 640k of RAM"

Good old internet Chinese whispers. He said 640k of ram was more than enough for that current generation of CPUs. Just like saying 2Gig (or whatever the limit is with 32bit) is more than enough for current applications)

Religion clouds rational thinking and should be kept as far away from politics (and life in general but each to their own) as possible. Iíd feel much better if a born again nutcase wasnít in the Whitehouse.

3. Re: No subject Mar 25, 2004, 11:43 Mr Gar

Virus checkers and Windows have been doing it for years. It makes sense for the same to happen to games as they become more and more complex. I have no problem with Steam as long as I can run the game offline and disable the updates if I choose and now you can do both of those.

Maybe I'm just a hardrive half empty kind of guy though.

21. Re: No subject Mar 23, 2004, 12:08 Mr Gar

Iíve heard reports of it appearing on peoples HDs without them asking for it and I really donít understand that. My copy of steam never downloaded it and Iíve checked all the steam cache files. Also why would Valve want to waste bandwidth and really piss everybody off by pre downloading it without the userís permission?
