As strange it may sound running a SL business can be very profitable, especially when you convert Linden currency into US dollars. I remember back in 2006 I had asked the owner of one of most popular Sims at the time called The Edge what she made. She said somewhere around 100k a year. There are other Sims like BareRose who can make around 150k just selling virtual clothing. It's nuts! what those businesses dont tell you is the cost to maintain their virtual merchandise which is part of the lawsuit. i think we will start to see those virtual businesses start to fight linden labs in order to avoid paying the "service" fee for storage and maintenance of their virtual merchandise. EULA for the win for linden labs! |

I imagine if the plaintiffs were able to host the land themselves, and Linden Lab disconnected their servers from the rest of the world, they might have more of a case. so true. virtual properties would make more sense if the owner creates and stores it on their own computer and simply logs into second live to be seen by the community and interact with other users. but the plaintiffs in this lawsuit are stupid as f*ck to invest so much on something that exists only as part of a "service". |

| when did apple become uncool? when steve jobs came back and decided to buy back the licenses for mac os 7 from mac clones and void all the warranties. apple did not even offer their own warranty and instead tried to sell me a slower less capable power mac. no trade-in. nothing. my power computing powercenter pro mac clone was thousands cheaper than a comparable power mac. |

| no problem with porn. just dont do it with taxpayers time/money. i really wonder why the govt would not filter porn and other junk from govt institutions when the private sector does it to prevent loss in productivity. |

COD2 is when IW started using their own graphics engine (no more half life/quake engine). then treyarch started taking turns on working with the COD series starting on COD3. COD4 MW with IW, COD5 WaW with treyarch, COD6 MW2 with IW... etc. |

i think mercedes should buy the parking spot and ask that the car not be removed. use the car that is sticking out the wall as a billboard to advertise their cars. |

They lost me when they sold out to MS and ditched the PC community. What did they ever do for the PC community? They made some Mac games and then made console games. after the success of marathon on the mac platform bungie started cross platform development of subsequent games like oni, myth and what started out as a pc/mac game called halo. the original E3 preview for halo was running on a pc or a mac if i remember correctly. |

Bungie used to make outstanding PC games before Halo...but that was a LONG LONG LONG time ago in an industry far far away... (from where we are today) Actually, those were Mac games (Marathon). PC ports came later, but I believe that was at or near the time Quake came out which made it seem a little...2D.
Someone jump in here and tell me if my timing is off (I know you will ).
^D^ That is indeed how it happened. Marathon and Marathon 2 were both originally Mac games... they preceded Quake, but were far more technically advanced than DOOM. the marathon series came out way before quake. i remember the main selling point for marathon was that it had multiplayer online (LAN then later via IPX) gaming and the characters can look up/down and jump over gaps (auto if youre running). the control scheme also allowed you to use mouse aim and WASD. it was fun to play it at work because our admin had no way of blocking or seeing the appletalk traffic at that time. |

on a side note. the narrator did not mention a little known fact about the wall of water that rushes down the hole underneath the launch pad. it is not meant to cool down stuff. it is used as a sound insulation. nasa still uses the same technique on space shuttle launch.

| the sad part is marketing will probably get more of that 1 billion dollar windfall from the sale of MW2. activision is probably doing some creative accounting to make it seem they spent a bigger budget on marketing than development of the game. |
