There's a much warmer sound to it than mp3's, or CD's. is it warmer because of the analog playback or is it from the analog recording? i always wondered what audiophiles were referring to when they say that because a lot of music today are recorded digitally. so wouldnt that present a problem for vinyl which used to be made from copies of original analog recordings? |

If/when it ever becomes obsolete they will prob remove the activations and by that time, you will be playing something else. No biggie. Why deprive yourself over high headed snobbishness. You playing a lot of other sims these days..what else is there?! have you actually tried emailing them to ask for more activations? do they give out the email for DRM support? |

I will consider buying this on Steam when it gets there but if it's activated so I have limits on how many times I can install/play then I'll pass. yeah its unfortunate they went back to using starforce on the steam version of DCS2. the first DCS used steam DRM for the steam version. |

Q: Does DCS: A-10C use copy protection? A: Yes, it uses the new user-friendly ProActive AAA Technology. You will no longer have a fixed number of activations, but in an effort to prevent piracy the system does limit the number of activations per month. Your DCS A-10C serial number is initially set to 8 activations and when they all are spent, 1 activation is added automatically once per 31 days (effectively "refilling" your serial number). ProActive AAA Technology does not install any drivers on your PC. It works as an integrated part of the DCS files but has no special privileges in your system. that sounds reasonable to me. thanks for the info guys!
now i gotta dig up the old joystick and throttle. wish i had the cash to buy those $500 controllers from thrustmaster or saitek. |

Can we rely on a historically dodgy bunch of dickheads to give us an unlock forever patch to their DRM? if french publishers like ubisoft cannot be relied upon to remove DRM when they end support for a game, you think russian devs will do better?
its a shame that games like DCS have to be paired with a pain in the ass DRM. but i understand their home market is rife with piracy so there really isnt much the developers can do. |

| i dont think origin is designed as a DRM tool. it is there to build a more detailed profile of consumers that EA can sell to advertisers. why else would they need to snoop into browsing habits of gamers. its not enough we get tracked in many different ways through our use of electronic devices. now we voluntarily surrender our privacy to play a video game. |

I stand by my original statement... the thing was completely USELESS at launch, due to lack of software. there were software at launch of the mac. at least proprietary to the newspaper and ad industry. none of them were using pagemaker or macpublisher. the laserwriter was only significant to apple but it was not the first postscript capable printer. and it was never used by the print publishing industry for final production since it was too slow and could not provide enough resolution required for conversion to film and then to plate. go ahead quote your friend, wikipedia and everything under the sun but the fact is macs were being used by the newspaper and publishing industry in los angeles by the summer of 1984 to cover the olympics. the mac was probably useless for regular joe at launch but not for the print and publishing industry. |

wtf_man wrote on Nov 1, 2011, 15:23: Desktop Publishing eventually became Mac's "killer app"... initially they were just as useless as a Lisa... except cost a lot less. umm... nope. desktop publishing was already useful when the mac came out in 1984. remember the olympics in los angeles? every major newspaper outlet were using macs to create ads for the event. some macs were connected to fuji scanners to digitize and send photographs around the world. the LA times used fuji scanners up until the late 90s. those suckers were the size of a small car but can only scan one color at a time. registering each color was a major pain in the ass. |

wtf_man wrote on Nov 1, 2011, 09:53: The initial Mac was an expensive, useless, black and white, paperweight. Why the hell would anyone go from a color computer that had thousands of software packages to a black and white computer that had like 5. For a mouse interface?
The big reason that Windows 3.x was so successful (over the Mac) was you could still run all of your DOS programs, which meant you still had thousands of software packages to choose from... AND you got to use a mouse... AND you didn't really need to buy a new computer (If you had a 386 or better). the reason the black and white display mac sold is because it had WYSIWYG support which got the interest of the design/creative community. the mac can handle multiple font styles and presented them on the screen the way they would print on paper. DOS did not have this. the macs success was also spurred by the invention of the postscript language by adobe. they basically made desktop publishing possible with the advent of high end image setters used for print production. centronix jumped in on the bandwagon and helped make the SCSI interface standard in the print/publishing industry by using it on their successful image setters that needed fast data transfers. no off the shelf DOS machine had SCSI but macs had standard SCSI built in. they used to refer to the external 50 pin SCSI interface as a centronix interface because it was widely used by that company and everyone had to adapt to it. i even remember having to deal with their non-standard technique of putting an active terminator between some of their products and the macintosh. oh and photoshop started on the mac. so did quark express. two design industry heavyweights.
but all of it didnt matter once windows arrived and supported most of what the mac had exclusively like system wide color management and postscript.

thats what i was thinking because i have multiple copies of windows 7 but how do you automatically unmount drives/partitions? is there a way to prevent drives from showing up in disk management short of having to physically disconnect the drive? can origin scan disabled/unmounted drives that still show up on disk management? |
