News Comments > The Matrix Online Delayed
37. Re: complain , complain, complain Sep 17, 2004, 11:28 j4ck50n

Please, thats exactly what (s)he deserved...There was no attempt at doing myself or anyone for that matter, a favour. If you dont like my post, disregard it.

This game is crap and the Matrix has been dead since the first sequel. The original post was practically doused in gasoline...were responders supposed to politely mention how the opinion presented just might be a little pathetic?

lololol, man...please, shameless

If this was said to me in person, I would probably definitely slap you then laugh hysterically.

Have any of you people who diss this (or any other) game without playing it actually designed and built a game

You drive a car? Ever griped about it? Basically, if you have never had a direct hand in creating the things you use everyday and bitch about them - SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Do you have any idea the processes involved with trying to entertain self-agrandising amature critics

Insults lose something when they are spelled incorrectly dunce. Also, what is this some type of martyr shit? There are a million mofo's out there who would LOVE to have your job and would graciously accept the criticsim that the people who make your checks cashable put forth, you ungrateful piece of shit.

When I read threads like this one, I wonder why we bother. It's certainly not the money. And this shows that it's sure as hell not the players.
Maybe we only do it for other designers these days.

You are wearing panties aren't you? Do, no doubt, your co-workers, friends and family a favor and hang yourself you miserable asswipe.

32. Re: Going for broke May 18, 2004, 11:49 j4ck50n

First off, only 4 door Skylines are RWD, all others are AWD. Drifted Skylines usually are modded to RWD. And you can drift just about any car, some just do better than others (obvious reasons) =). Good point though, a penalty of some sort should be in place for FWD cars, or just reflect it in poorer performance.

This game rocked - heavy on arcade but not too much ala' Midnight Club 2 (game sucks!) Plenty of shortcomings though:

No Replay or damage modeling. The "tuning" was really just brand name packages that you didn't have much control over. Would be nice to really "tune", instead of just naming stuff.

How about some test tracks for 1/4 mile or drag racing, maybe a dynometer for tuning?

The physics could be improved as well, I dont want F1 Season style realism, but it could be made a bit more realistic.

One of the most enjoyable games I have played, a real surprise cos' I was counting on it sucking hard.

Vietcong...NOT scripted? c'mon, for chrissakes unless you follow certain paths and do certain things, the game breaks and you stand around for 10 minutes until you realize you have to start the level over cos you missed "the trigger" somewhere...

ultimately, the game is purchased...

i own Half Life, Quakes, Starcrafts, RTCW, MTW, etc. funny, these are the ones I play and are worth double their cost IMO.

i am glad I didn't buy WC3, AOM, SC4, Vietcong (man that sucks) and a bunch of other crap.

ok, i said my piece, unless someone really gets me going i am all done with this.

my point as well, seems to keep being missed:

there is no "just steal", if you like it buy it.

i read the mags, i see the sites, however what others may like, i may not and vice versa.

take the image, enjoy it guilt free, if you like it and play it, then buy it. if you don't, delete it and save your cash for a deserving game. thats my message.

games i play a lot or online i purchase. < no *might* there

by d/l'ing a game, playing first level or two then deleting it? < no *probably* there either
<end snip>

seems you are implying i am distributing or whooping it up at devs expense. hardly. so, if i spend 50 bucks on a game, and it sucks, o well for me? i don't think so. hardly anything else is sold this way, a customer is guaranteed some sort of satisfaction no? try before you buy? not a matter of expense, though for some it is. people with limited entertainment budgets in particular. you are attaching way to much weight to this, and this ties into my main argument.

hmm, you replied to my post but i never said:

<snip>
'but its $50 and its copy protected that's so much money I just have to download it'
<end snip>

i don't have an issue with paying for games, i do have an issue with paying for crap games. i do have an issue paying for something that i will lose interest in after first level or two. am i hurting development, by d/l'ing a game, playing first level or two then deleting it? i am certainly helping if i d/l a game, play first level or two or even finish it and then buy it for legal online key, or manuals, whatever. don't talk to me about demos...

copy protection, i could care less. if it can be written, it can be copied for now at least. period. y'know the saying, "release at 12:00, crack at 12:15". Vice City was posted on the 9th...

games i play a lot or online i purchase. this is not my argument. my ire is aimed at all the preachy, patting-them-selves on the back, holier-than-thou ethics, legal software zealots here. you reek of microsoft marketing. its easy to point down from so high up and declare "my shit don't stink".

lot of whining on these boards: idiotic assumptions and conclusions drawn on screenshots, a life or death urgency attached to gaming, games and development and general dim witted observations.

the "christian" thing is just begging for flame, however i will refrain. keep your religious views to yourself. morals, ethics, scruples, compassion, etc. can be had by aetheists, pagans and heretics too...sheesh.

such high horses, i hope y'all don't fall.
finger pointers and philosophers. reasons not to d/l games:
1.sob story
2.physical threats
3.ya might make 'joe ethics' mad
im sure the couple thousand peeps who d/l games really put a dent in the companies bottom line. the news is full of companies folding because of illegal pirating...and the RIAA is paying you how much?
i wonder how many of you have mp3's that aren't 100% on your box. i wonder how many of you would look for the owner of that 20 dollar bill you found.

dumb kid, the Atari logo carries more recognition and name association than any other video game maker/dev/producer in existence.

uhm, thats the point exactly.
Why a newer engine? Whats wrong with the HL engine? It's old, so what.
If they wanted to use a newer engine then they would, I mean c'mon. "Got a Shot?" Someone is *keeping* them from using a diff engine?
It's about >gameplay< not eyecandy.

Never fails, any mention of HL and the "why, it's so old" posts come out.
If you don't like it, don't play it, otherwise stfu and post to a thread that is relevant to yourself.
I have been reading this shite for years now and it is as played as /. posts raggin on MS.
They make and sell mods cos it is good and people play it, period.
