So is this going to merit a titanium edition?

Same here but the space battles get boring pretty quickly. Its more of a novelty game to me, great to watch the pretty graphics but pretty shallow overall.

its a good looking game, and I liked it for 20 some levels, but it eventually becomes a grind fest like all other games, after you finish chapter 1 you have to wait like 10 levels to start the next chapter and really all I was doing was fetch this kill this collect this etc, etc, etc, cancelled.

Huge world with tonsa stuff to see but bad dialogue and stories.

I can see it being avery fun game for some but I got bored quickly because the characters are so generic and their ye olde bullshit speak is so annoying.

I think the water looks great, better then what I've seen in other games, especially smaller touches like it rolling down stairs, it just looks amazing.

What made them special was the amount of narrative attached to so many locations in the game. You walk almost anywhere on the map and theres a story for it.

This hasnt changed in #4 I dont doubt, but I cannot stand the new control style, I always hated the feel of Geneforge interface vs the direct style in Old Avernum/Exile. I'm saying he should go back to the original style, disregarding graphics entirly.

Yeah he could do a grapphics overhaul but the point is he can do so much more just creating these worlds like he does now. In a perfect world he could do it all but lets be honest here you know something is going to get sacrificed to make that upgrade.

Bah better engine better graphics, all the while alienating what makes these games truly special. He switched to Geneforge style over the old Exile/Avernum style on #4 and now I hate it. Avernum 3 was my favorite, huge outdoor world, not trapped underground the whole game, and classic UI/gameplay. I really wish he would go BACK to his older style, not keep changing it for the people who want better graphics.

I loved the Avernum series and Exile too but I really hate this new Geneforge style interface and controls. I never played more then the demo of Avernum 4 because of that and this looks to be the same way.

Pertaining to this whole "immersive experience" topic...Where does this nonsense of FP being "more immersive" then third or isometric come from?

I was under the impression that to be immersed in a game I have to be thoroughly enjoying it, and regardless of the perspective that is chosen to present that experience, it comes down to how good the actual game is, not whether it "simulates" my real life perspective.

The way I see it, PoV has nothing to do with immersion, but rather it is based upon the individuals perceptions and expectations, and the ability of the game to deliver upon these. I certainly recall being fully immersed in Fallout 1 and 2, mostly because it was mature and gritty, and allowed me to craft a character that was truly my own in a seemingly living, breathing world.

I'm sure if Bethsoft was able to capture the atmosphere and style of the originals, even in a FP perspective, I could be equally immersed in it as well. However, I doubt it would have little if any to do with the fact that they changed perspectives.

And it uses the Oblivion engine, what more needs to be said about the "feel" of the game.

Bethsoft storylines have never made me care. I've played their RPG's since Arena came out, and not once did I care about any of their plotlines or character dialogue. Failing these things, Fallout 3 will never live up to its name.

Bethsoft makes enjoyable games, the Fallout series and Black Isle in particular, made captivating games. Thats the difference for me.

Well I always hated Starcraft, I like RTS games that make every unit feel powerfull, and tactics using special abilities to win the battle with small squads, pretty much the opposite of SC gameplay. At the very least I look forward to the types of custom multiplayer games people will inevitably create.

Its cool that they are at least trying to bring real multiplayer to this game, I know its unreasonable to expect full implementation in this game (only auto resolve battles), but I think they should try a simultanious turn kinda thing for the next game, something like Civ 4.

Problem with this kinda game is the battles, I cant think of any way to do that besides only playing 1v1 matches, as others would be forced to wait the duration of a battle until they could continue, and thats not going to work. They should at least try to get a fully working 1v1 multiplayer campaign mode, if nothing else they could provide full campaign and battle support for that.

" I have been praying, literally, that Take-Two and its lawyers would do something so stupid… that such a misstep would enable me to destroy Take-Two…

The pit Take-Two has dug for itself will be patently clear next week when I strike back."

I didnt play Dreamfall because I heard they implemented retarded mini-games and none of them were fun yet you are forced to play them. And the reason for this? Because it was a console game and console gamers wont buy a game thats pure adventure they need some "action" elements in it to keep them interested.

You can shove your piracy up your ass, if I ever see a PC game brought down to a console level I wont get near it, dreamfall included.

How much money do these companies waste on anti-piracy, is there a rough % floating around?

Its pretty much proven after the release and success of both Company of Heroes and Gal Civ 2 that these types of protection are nothing but a waste. The publishers and developers cry bloody murder over piracy and in the end create their own demise, the end user is the only person who suffers, having to deal with these safedisc and starforce and whatever protection they decided to slap on your cd. Treat me like a criminal rummaging around for my cds, yet the pirates get their cracks and dont even need one. Not to mention that the time and money that went into this process could have been used to...I dont know heres a concept...make a more complete product!

With such a statement being made from ID im skeptical about purchasing or even entertaining the idea of purchasing a product from them in the future.

[if the product is on your PC, and you did not pay for it, they have lost the revenue.[i]

So, being a broke college student, lets say I go download ID's latest game, and I see its crap and after playing for an hour I delete it.

I'd like to know how that qualifies as lost revenue. First of all, I don't have the money to buy the game, second I wouldn't even if I did, and third theres still just as many game boxes, manuals, cd's, and everything else they spent their money producing the game on the store shelves as there was before I downloaded the game. How again does this equal lost revenue?

The first step to combating piracy is to stop all the lies associated with fighting it.
