News Comments > PC Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition in August
17. Re: PC Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition in August Apr 11, 2012, 18:09 D4rkKnight

The problem is that this is a multiplayer game at its core, playing this game offline hollows out its experience. GFWL will make or break this port, and based on their past track record Microsoft seems to think there is nothing wrong with it.

I bought this on the PS3 and if they do this right I will buy it again for PC.

Is this for real? I thought this was a Call of Duty announcement. How is a multi-player expansion the first thing released for a -until now- single player rpg?

News Comments > New SimCity Only Playable Online
77. Re: New SimCity Only Playable Online Mar 29, 2012, 00:55 D4rkKnight

Simcity 4 was developed with multiplayer in mind but it became an afterthought upon release. You could technically play multiplayer by each playing separately, then importing your region to your friends game. The cities would then work together and grow off each other. In fact, you could create an industrial region with no population, then import your friends residential region and watch your industry flourish without polluting your citizens.

And then of course there is Simcity 2000 Network edition, a great game that nobody played. You would purchase sections of land and claim them as your own, and it was true real time Simcity multiplayer. You could even sell water and electricity to other players with payment plans. If done right, multiplayer in Simcity would be a great addition, something I think Simcity 4 sorely lacked. Always on internet required...not so much. Players should have a choice and its a shame if they force it upon you otherwise.

I love the Men of War/HOWWII series, so thank you Steam(Valve) for keeping it alive.

I agree with you on the super small size, I decreased my resolution because I didn't see a way to increase the Font/UI size. Looks good now running it lower.

I also wish it was easier to see the wars a character is in on their character page.

5. Re: Crusader Kings II Demo Feb 6, 2012, 17:28 D4rkKnight

Love these games and its well worth the $40, already pre-ordered it and the demo doesn't change that.

The only issue I have with them is their DLC micro releases. There are already 2 DLC at $1.99 each for Crusader Kings 2: Mongol faces/units and historical shields.

They both come with the game if you pre-order it from Gamersgate, but come on...selling content before the game is released?

I suppose this is a good opportunity to ask about good HL2 coop mods...weren't they making this for HL2?

LA Noire was on the most disappointing list and honorable mention for best PS3 game as well as best new IP. The descriptions are great, in one category it's no fun to play, in the other its a "classy, mature, unique" game.

Because of the overloaded servers, I seem to have ended up with 3 copies of the game in my "owned games" collection on gog. Well at least it'll come in handy in case I lose one.

This happens more often then you think, for instance, I lost my copy of Diablo 3 beta...Blizzard?

Yeah I thought that after I posted, I didn't play past the demo because it didn't have enough to draw me in...if that's true then just ignore me

14. Re: L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition in November Sep 28, 2011, 18:01 D4rkKnight

I loved what little GTAIV multiplayer I played. The cops n crooks game mode was a blast but it was hard to find people to play.

No dedicated servers and you could edit the weapon config files to change bullets into rockets and fire 10 rockets/second out of your assault rifle...then came god mode and teleport cheats which they did nothing to stop, it died fast.

Eh, any game that starts with rape references kind of gets blacklisted by me, but hey: if that's your thing, go for it!

It was never a rape reference...

They should start listing this on retail PC games as a feature.

*Spectacular Graphics!
*Exciting Combat!
*No GFWL implementation!

It requires a strong processor actually, if you don't have one and get decently far into fortress building it will slow your machine to a crawl and you will be unable to continue.

Elder Scrolls games never get a demo.

Daggerfall had a demo. You got to play on one tiny island separated from the mainland.

News Comments > Will Wright on Gaming's Future
1. Re: Will Wright on Gaming's Future Apr 17, 2011, 15:13 D4rkKnight

Forgive me if this picture of games future does not interest me. This is the reason Simcity 5 was never made, it was too "focused". So instead, we need to dilute the formula and make it accessible to everyone.

This makes me certain that the outlook for a true successor to Simcity 4 is very bleak. I am not against games like Spore and The Sims, but the draw of a larger audience has killed his most intelligent and rewarding simulation.

finding a proper ISO, making sure it's virus-free

This doesn't happen often with games actually. Applications can be riddled with viruses I will give you that, but somehow game releases, even poor ones like torrents, rarely contain a virus. False positives from cracks/keygens are a dime a dozen however.
