Apparently they downgraded the graphics from the original E3 showing. The speculation is that once they discovered the hardware limitations of PS4/Xbone they were forced to downgrade the complexity of the games environments and effects. This shouldn't affect the PC textures though - I would still expect high resolutions there.

I can't even play this game, I bought just BF4 and whenever I tell it to join a match it pops up messages telling my to buy the DLC's. It seems that 90% of the matches require some DLC to join and they make sure I know that by wasting my time until I relent and pay them. That and trying to match up with a friend of mine is a pain in the ass through Origin. I just gave up trying and moved on to other games.

Skyrims rating on Steam has dropped from 98% to 87% over the last few days and continues to get lower. It will be interesting to see if it falls into the 70% range because of this - surely not going to hurt sales much especially this late in the game, but its good to see a direct representation of how many fans loathe this decision to steer other developers and steam in general away from this.

Cutters issues sound exactly like the reason I stopped playing X once I figured out everything was more or less static and respawned by the "GOD" concept in the game. They tried to fix this with mods and AP, but the game was designed from the core up as a fake sandbox so it was just a bandaid. It is also the reason I have not bought this game.

Any offline experience would be fundamentally empty. We could write a separate mission system to allow a limited series of fixed missions, but that would still not be a compelling game, and is just the first step in the mountain of work that would be required.

That's what I thought, making a real story with interesting missions would take a lot of work that they don't want to create. Don't expect an engaging storyline in this game, its going to be "player created".

You make zero sense.

They hide it with multiplayer by having you interact with other players who will claim certain areas of the universe and create clans which can engage in conflicts. Add a few overreaching features that tie it together and you have an infinite amount of free content. There is nothing wrong with this of course, but if you focus on this it means you don't focus on a single player element that requires more time and effort to flesh out.

As for PG not meaning random - again I've heard this before with games in the past and while on paper it doesn't, in application you get a lifeless universe filled with template stations with pre-staged defend/attack quests and little to no actual content.

Mirroring the universe sounds great and all - if you plan on spending 5 lifetimes exploring a gameworld. I was hoping for a more concise and reasonable amount of content that a development team can actually produce, this is more of a pretty sounding line to add to the feature list while it detracts from the actual experience by spreading their work thin.

From what I have seen this game is going to have very little actual content in terms of story/quests/characters and RPG development. You will explore a randomly generated (procedural nonsense) universe of emptiness. Having it multiplayer only allows them to hide this fact and this doesn't surprise me.

I never understood why people think an infinite number of star systems is a good thing - it's like Daggerfall's claim that their game world is half as big as the landmass of the UK. Real good that does me when its filled with randomly generated fluff.

I think a 6/10 is a more appropriate score for SHC2. It took them almost 10 years to go back to the same game as SHC1 with 3d graphics - I guess everyone is just happy its not as bad as SH3, maybe in 10 more years they will have a true sequel that doesn't suck.

I agree with the writing, nobody seems to mention it. I ended up skipping entire paragraphs of text because they were so dull. Seems like a fun game if only they had a better writer to keep me interested in its content.

I'm looking forward to more serious RPG's like Wasteland 2 / Pillars / Torment

On the other hand, I've mostly given into the subscription model for movies+tv. Just out of convenience. I don't really care to own it. I've already watched a lot of these on netflix. I can see very few movies that I would want to own this way, but the prices aren't bad in general, pretty comparable to other digital film purchases.

But it just seems like a bad fit all around.

I think it would be huge if somebody could pull this off with theatrical movies and offer a choice of formats and qualities.

I fear this game is going to feel lifeless for us single player space sim fans. Procedural content is seen as such an amazing thing - the ability to mimick the size of a real universe - I would rather see a smaller hand made universe with 20-30 planets/systems then this. I think it will be a novel game for awhile, and once we are used to the mechanics it will feel like an empty shell.

I haven't played it, I'm waiting for final release, so I can't say for sure. The mechanics look impressive. I just hope that if what I say is true, someone can take the engine and do something special with it.

I'm holding off on Divinity, they are still adding features to it. Apparently we are getting a henchmen interaction patch next week - I know they will only add more features and fix some of the complaints people have with the UI. I'm going to give it a go in 4-6 months.

This is supposed to be like JA2, not that other crap they released under the JA name.

With that said, I'm not getting my hopes up. They are taking a light-hearted approach to the characters and story which definitely does not fit the style of JA2, and the devs themselves don't have much experience. Also it looks like a cartoon...so far I'm not liking what I see.
