Infinium Labs is maintained by lesbian hookers imported from Tijuana who are paied with 8-balls and razor blades. In fact I have first hand proof that they will suck a dogs penis for a little over 4.32$ american dollars. On top of that I have proof that thier offices are located in a dumpster behind the 7-11 in down town Sacremento. Furthermore the company is funded by the Irish Mafia and all that money came from illegal drug racketeering by 13 year old lasses. To top it all off Timothy M. Permadeath, along with real cash for game cash as an option. Give everyone 5 lives, and 1,000 bucks/gold/credits/penisknives and let them go at it. You'd see more immersive roleplaying and more realistic socitiys than is ever going to be possiable in the carebear treadmill world that Verant and SoE have created. You think E-Bay is popular now...

I dunno about that UO game, it still seems based around getting phatlewt to kill mobs to get more phatlewt. You won't see me impressed with mmo's until I can load the game up, actualy speak to an npc. Have said npc understand me, get pissed off, slap me in the face, and I feel the blow. That goes for other games too, to a point but agian its mostly directed at mmo's because they charge monthly fees. I'll lower my standards for awhile, but not for any great legenth of time. Usually just enough to get the game beat, maby twice if its expecially engaging.

When technology advances to the point that it suplicates reality then yes, barbarism will once agian take a hold on socity. Yet like all reality things that were once, will be agian. I have to say, a Sim's type game that used real cash as the basis for its economy would rake in more money than God. I would never even be tempted to play, but who cares, the example of ring tones and txt messages are sucinctly accurate. This would create a stable foundation to allow truely creative and original games to be made, because frankly they could afford the risks with that much bank. So, I want a job on this project, alright? I promise to be a good corporate executive!

Oddly enough I never played TLJ, and I like adventure games... I think it came out in one of my "poor and unwilling to work at mcdonalds" stages I go through. I wonder if I could still order it or something, its probably fairly cheep now.

Agian, just because Spector is such a cunt nowadays.
But in the way that Deus Ex: Invisible War was designed to achieve success with a wider audience, so too has Thief evolved from its original incarnations. "You can't make games for M.I.T. grads," Spector quipped, referring to the complexity and difficulty of past games. To bring new gamers into the Thief world, important changes have been made that smooth the transition between this game and its predecessors as well as antiquated design decisions and present-day ideas.
AKA: We no longer care about making interesting games with deep and complicated mechanics, we only want to make as much cash as God will let us make.
I don't hate them for making money, I realize that in the end when they are making more money than hollywood then we will see studios willing to take more chances agian. I just think it sucks that things work like this, it just seems so inefficient. Hmm, maby I dislike god more than I realize.
On that note at least I know not to even bother with any Ion Storm games for a good long while. In that respect I should thank them, consistancy is a valuable trait.

Actually most the people that play mmo's like them as they are, as pathetic as that sounds. Unless a company makes a game and charges twice the price per month and people are willing to pay it. Don't expect any real originality, ever. Of course the open source community might get pissed off eventually and make a free one, who knows. I just wouldnt bet my morning caffine on it.

Of course FPS are all the same to a degree thats why we can have a genere called FPS. Jesus, is a company offering a buy one get one free internet account for retards?
The reason, like I have said... twice, that MMO's disgust me in this regard particularly is because MMO's charge monthly fees.
I'm not agianst monthly fee's but when stupid people keep paying monthly fees for horiable games its even more detrimental to the genre than for games that have only one fee to play. It makes it much more painfully obvious that people will pay to play crap games, and in fact they will pay each month. Since MMO companys have much more to lose finically by implementing any kind of radical, aka: innovative, ideas. They don't do it and stick to the well trod path.
If you're in the woods and there's 10 paths out of the woods but 100 paths to follow. Are you going to take a path that no one's been on that might lead you to painful death, or do you play it 'smart' and take the paths that look well trod. Even if one of those paths leads to the holy grail chances are no one will take it because no one wants to die. And no company wants to go bankrupt and die either. Unfortunately it takes so much cash to get a MMO in a half-decent state that by the time a company gets to that point they realize its just not worth being original.
All I need is one rich bastard who remembers the good ole days of story telling who wants to be able to experience his/her favorite storys in person.
Maby they will invest in making a game that actually is worth paying a fee per month to pay, on a basis other than simple addiction.
