A good consensus is flying a M7 or something like that. It is bigger than a fighter but smaller than a M2 or M1.

I fly in a M6 most of the time, because it is stronger than any fighter, but small enough to dock with any station. When I have to go into combat, I'll jump into my trusty M7 (which is fairly fun to fly into combat), giving orders to my fleet, and enjoying the combat. And if things get too hot, I can always call in my M7M and let it clear the whole sector with a few missile barrages (which is AWESOME).

Needless to say, I love the X series as a whole, and I look forward to X-Rebirth. Here's a fairly recent (and quite impressive) video showing how the game looks:

I really should like this game. It's got a retro/StarControl feel to it with a lot of options... so it should punch all the right buttons. And, yet, I just can't get into it. I wish I could figure out why. Something about it just feels wrong...

It's not only you. I'm a big fan of Din's Curse (and Depths of Peril before it), but I just couldn't get into Drox Operative. I wanted to like it, but for some reason, it just doesn't work for me, and I don't even know exactly why.

Just a quick question, have ASeven and Axis played the game?

Cos they both seem to be bagging a free game.

The idea that games can't be criticized because they're free is really dumb. The fact that something is free just means I'll move on without reservations, it doesn't mean I won't tell other people not to waste their time.

I think his point is that they're both trashing a game they haven't actually played, and a game that they could play (if they wanted) because it's free. Which is a fairly good point.

Is it finally a good game? or still has hacked together as Elemental War of Magic ?

I completely ignored whatever happened with this game, Elemental War of Magic sucked horribly, if I were to jump in now, would I see a drastically better/different game?

Legendary Heroes is the game I expected Elemental to be. It's much better, much improved, and actually fun to play, at least for me.

C'mon, people. There are plenty of good turn-based strategy games in mobile platforms, like Neuroshima Hex and Eclipse. This can be good.

I think "revengeance" is actually very clever. It fuses revenge and vengeance into a single word, emphasizing their shared meaning (a sort of "pleonastic portmanteau", if you will), and it's brilliant as far as SEO goes - if you google "revengeance", 95% of the hits will be about the game, and 5% will be people complaining about how "stupid" the word is and all that, I guess.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the game on PC. It looks great, and I've heard great things about it.

So i preordered Elemental War of Magic (MoM is a top 5 all time game for me). It was an epic fail. However i downloaded Legendary Heroes and i can say this really feels like playing a modern day Master of Magic. Kudos to Stardock for sticking it through.

I second that, though I would add that it has a very different "feel" to it, when compared to Master of Magic. Legendary Heroes has an identity of its own, and a pretty good one at that.

It's definitely a pretty good game, one that I'd easily recommend for fans of the genre. I thought I would never say something like that after Elemental, but here we are, and I'm glad I was wrong.

I hope the 'many worlds' interpretation of quantum mechanics is true, because then it means there is a universe in which companies like Looking Glass made it, and companies like Gearbox went bankrupt.

But you're not in that universe, so what difference does it make?

Downward trend? The only game that company has ever made that wasn't mediocre to the extreme was borderlands.

To be fair, the Brothers in Arms games were pretty good. But that was a long time ago.

Lets be clear: Most people consider Dark Souls *the game* as freaking awesome (and it is), which makes the bad port worth it for some of us.

ACM may play nice on the PC, but most people consider *the game* to be sub-par.

A controller is just another input device like a keyboard and mouse.

A console is a pre-configured box with very limited and expensive upgrade options that isn't a Mac.

Well said! Specially that last one.

Whatís offensive to me is when some junkie kid screams about needing controller support for a pc game. Yes that is offensive. You want to play with a controller go play on your console. Itís that simple. If you donít own one, then stop trying to turn your pc into one.

Wow. Thanks, sir, for telling me what I should do with my PC. I guess I'll play Falcon 4 with mouse and keyboard and see how that goes.

Sorry, but excusing a controller to play a pc game is total garbage. I did not spend a bunch of money on high end pc hardware just so I can excuse a ported game to be played on my pc. Sorry, but thatís absolutely crap and should never be tolerated. I did not buy a pc to turn it into a shitty high-end console.

I'm not the kind of PC purist that thinks that a PC game means mouse + keyboard. I'm also not the kind of PC purist that thinks that, if a game doesn't use every little electron in the high end hardware I bought, then it shouldn't even be there. I'm also not the kind of PC purist that sees game "ports" from consoles as "lesser".

Now where are all the people who were claiming the half-assed PC port was totally fine?

Those people exist?

I've been accused of being one of them (here on Bluesnews) when I said that I would be happy with the half-assed port if I could play the game at all, which is what I wanted. I don't think it was "totally fine", but it was definitely "totally playable" (with a controller, mind you), which was enough for me. I certainly expect more of Dark Souls 2, of course.

Edit: here's the original thread for reference.

Why does the release date at the end of the trailer initially flash up as 2007?

I was wondering the same thing. Had to go back to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me.

The game takes place in 2007, so it seems to be a joke/reference. If you want to go meta, it might mean that the games mocks the present time (and game conventions) more than it does the 80's and the "alternate future" the game evokes.

Or it means "look, you're living in the future of the future!" as another meta-joke.

Feel free to pick any of those explanations, or make up your own. That's part of the fun.

The world has moved on since then and while Flashback was barely acceptable for its day, right now it - and Another World - are ancient relics best forgotten.

"Barely acceptable in its day"? It might as well be my favorite game of that generation, and easily in my top 30 games of all time. I don't know if it aged well (because I haven't played it in what, 12 years now?), but it was pretty awesome back then, and it was a commercial and critical success.

Then again, its sequel ("Fade to Black") was not nearly as good. But the box it came in was awesome.

In fact, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes is pretty good. It's basically the game I expected Elemental to be.

BTW, if you told me one year ago that I would be writing the previous paragraph, I would laugh at your face. But the fact is - my faith in Stardock is at least partially restored after playing FE:LH, controversial CEO notwithstanding.
