Oh look, Star Citizen now has a feature that's been implemented years ago in Evochron, a game with a total budget probably around 0.1% of the Star Citizen budget?

Yeah, that's mighty impressive.

I first saw seamless planetary landings in Elite 2, their budget was even smaller. Your point is?

My point is that what they showed is not impressive at all to me, mostly because people with a much smaller budget have already done it (arguably) better. One could argue that Star Citizen's procedural generation *looks* better, but in this particular case I can't even go there - at least not yet.

I'm note sure what I'm more confused about... that someone here quoted "Gilmore Girls", that I recognized it as that, or that the quote itself is a reference to "Waiting For Godot". Well played sir.

Yeah, it's things like that that make Bluesnews so special to me.

Guild Wars 2 is the only major MMO that I know of that is Buy 2 Play.

The Secret World. Elder Scrolls Online. Probably something else I can't remember right now.

But of those, Guild Wars 2 is certainly my favorite.

I'm really enjoying it so far (1 hour or so in). Runs great, looks just fine to me, and even the English dub is good. I'm looking forward to playing more tonight.

The Escapist just responded to the allegations that sources were mostly Derek Smart or unverified posts from Glassdoor.

At least for me, this game is MUCH better than Van Helsing 1 or most other ARPGs in recent memory. It plays great with a controller, too, which is kind of what I was after. I'm really enjoying it a lot.

Has anyone made an MMO using the Cryengine yet? Any kind of MMO really, even a lame ass Bioware type MMO?

ArcheAge, it seems, though I don't know how it plays or if it's any good.

"Not long after that we will be releasing the next level of Arena Commander, allowing players with bigger ships to fly them with friends, on maps that are closer in size to the huge ones you’ll have in the final game"

Uh, "maps"?

Yes, maps. They never promised a seamless "translational" experience in a virtual universe, did they?

Or how Star Citizen optimistic backers would say, "hey, don't you know the Universe is made of maps? We just haven't reached a level transition boundary yet with any of our ships. Dark matter is proof that the Universe uses quantic BSP trees on a macroscopic level"

Not really. Derek Smart knows he has a small, niche following that's pretty loyal, and he always catered to them, not to the general market. Chris Roberts, on the other hand, seems to think he's some kind of messiah that's going to save mankind and space sims from... whatever.

STOP giving them money until they ship a substantial part of what they promised back in 2012. It really is that simple.

If you were a blood sucking demon vampire of doom, would you suck the blood of the only enemy on the planet that actively hunts you and is known to use potions and poisons, and has poisonous blood which is lore known even to normal folk? Don't get me wrong, dead Bruxa is good Bruxa.. just seemed odd it would fall for THAT trick. Do these monsters not talk to teach other?

The blood of a witcher is not naturally poisonous - it only becomes poisonous when they drink that specific potion, and that is not known to normal folk at all. And while some bruxas could be aware of that, most probably aren't - and it's pretty safe to assume that the one in the video wasn't.

Now, your argument is sound anyway, so I'll just say that having the bruxa fall for that trick is more interesting in terms of what the video wanted to show - that witchers are not invulnerable invincible action heroes. No matter how strong and fast they are, the most dangerous monsters are stronger and faster, and only careful preparation, knowledge of the monsters weaknesses, and a bit of luck can result in success in the end. When witchers can't handle a fair fight, they cheat. And that's what Geralt did.

Black blood potion just destroyed that bitch!

Doesn't make any sense that an ancient intelligent beast would not know about that though. I mean if you make a living by sucking the blood of things, surely you have some RnD going on what to not suck ;p

Only witchers are able to withstand the effects of that potion, so it's unlikely that a bruxa would know of such a thing, unless that bruxa had considerable experience with witchers, which is rather unlikely, as the video proves.

Damn baby, you got ugly real fast. What was she? Some kind of vamper?

A bruxa. Geralt faces one of those in the short story "A Grain of Truth", which you'll find in the book "The Last Wish". It's a kind of vampire, but a particularly powerful and deadly one.

Bruxas are extremely dangerous, so it's a bit unfortunate that they are basically mooks in Witcher 1 (and basically wraiths with different names in Witcher 2). In this video, however, they are closer to the way the books describe them.
