heres a weird one:
I cant watch Stargate: Atlantis because I dont have the sci-fi channel, so I download the BT files from suprnova... last week i was there and I got 3 new episodes THAT HAVENT EVEN AIRED ON TV YET!! its freaky deeky - and the only place I found info on those episodes was at a fan site, the official site doesnt even have them listed at all

i remember reading somewhere that this engine doesnt support multiple inhabitable levels, like having guys on the roof and the floor below in the same building... which sounds decidely lame from a tactical gaming perspective

i dont know about the "8 year old child" thing... i doubt Fallout could work for an 8 year old, but its probably my favorite game of all time...
but X2 seemed to me more like a spreadsheet with graphical representation.. the actual flesh of the game activities was really weak and shallow... sure you can buy factories and market goods, but the market didnt fluctuate, people in other crafts didnt have any purpose, and the available missions in stations were either fetch product, kill ship, or kill x number of ships... and the combat itself was wholly uninteresting from a space combat perspective - kinda like 3d asteroids or something, no thought to ship subsystems or complexities beyond the most basic shit since wing commander 1

i dunno, if you load up Morrowind today, it still runs like ass in some areas, and is a much worse performing engine than something like UT2k4 or Source... MUCH worse
it most likely has to do with terrain, and large areas, and so on... but I doubt Bethesda will do anything different this time around... their philosophy seems to be: art design 1st, performance 2nd
