News Comments > Star Wars RTS Revealed
10. Re: There are good SW games! Nov 10, 2004, 10:55 S_DOG34

RTS lends itself perfectly to Star Wars, and vice versa. But they already screwed up this idea once, and I am willing to bet this game will be no different. Only about 25% of Star Wars games are decent. Some are great, but not nearly enough.

they judged it for what it could have been

We get disappointed by games not when they don't live up to what they could have been, but what they should have been.

And I think you're confusing imaginations with expectations. Sometimes expectations aren't met even when they are very low. Doom3 is a case in point. Imagination is reserved for what games might be like in 10 years....ahhh the possibilities.

I think someone should murder George Lucas, for any of the 1 million reasons I can think of off the top of my head, so that Peter Jackson could direct episodes 7-9. Now HE is someone who knows how to direct a trilogy. Just die already Lucas...you have lost all the respect you ever had. And yes, I agree that episode 2 was somehow worse than episode 1.

Now I just need to find out how to use my ATI voucher to do so. That is an option, right?

Yup, it's an option. You get the bronze package (which is the equivolent of retail I believe) or you can upgrade to the silver or gold by paying the difference. I think you log on to steam and choose the 'register products I already own' option.

And yes, this is definately good news. Backup = smart.

Christ I'm tired of hearing this ignorant crap. Macs have two/three-button/scroll wheel mice too you idiot, they're just not standard. Good god at least get your facts straight before jumping on the idiot bandwagon...

The point here is that Macs ship with a one button mouse. Mac laptops have exactly one button. Half of the fucking FLASH games out there require two mouse buttons! I'm sure your mac is great for editing your wannabe independent films, but stop pretending that it's good for games, because it's not. Just go do the happydance for one of apple's stupid ass 'PCs are confusing' commercials and stfu. Nuff said.

This is news...how? I can't believe Id would even bother to port the thing. Any system that has a single button mouse should be forbidden to have games. Nuff said.

I'm just hoping this is the patch that makes the game playable.

You mean, in the sense that it will work, or that it will be a good game? Cause I don't think any patch can make a good game outta that steaming pile...err...mediocre pile.

He never claimed such a thing, he said "I took the initiative in creating the Internet." While his opponents twisted his words to make him look like a lier, he was speaking the truth and you, myself and everyone else here are obviously benefiting from his efforts and owe him a debt of gratitude for that.

It's called sarcasm. Look into it.

The gaming community could actually use a rallying event like this. I would definately contribute $ to help them defend if it went to court. Even the fucks who pirate games can't ignore the impact this would have.

I believe there is still work on a "frivolous lawsuit" claim whereby if you are taken to court, and disprove any charges, that you can file for the suer to reimburse all of your legal fees. I don't think it's on the books yet, but it would go a long way to ending this kind of crap.

OMG. I am sorry to say that I'm disgusted but not surprised. Frivolous lawsuits are here to stay, so shite like this isn't shocking anymore....just very disturbing. May they rot in hell for bringing this suit to court. And anyways, when was the first 3d game released? Think they waited long enough on this one?

Glad to see so many others remember the greatness that was Docks!

That one was sweet. My all time favorite was this train station map that I forget the name of. It was in Beta 4 I think, not sure if it was around past that.

Oh yeah! That map did kick some ass. I think that one was around for quite a while. It was a DE map right?

And I was never thrilled by CS_747. I thought the idea was pure gold, but the map itself never seemed to work out. I dunno, maybe I had crap servers when I played it.

Ok, lets think of more old school CS goodness! Seige was definately the Dust of it's time...that map was so overplayed back in the day. And I always thought Assault was just impossible as the CTs unless you had some seriously bad Ts. Just my $.02

Office is a great map, along with Prodigy. Does anyone remember Docks? I seriously loved that map, but nobody played it. There was a dust mod that added a corridor and made it a much more varied map. I think every map should have at least 3 ways to go...2 is just lame. Aztec is a pretty cool map. I guess Im out of the CS loop. I don't even remember what beta version I played.

Good. You and the other 12 people still playing the game can have fun with this then.

Just don't ignore the connection between age and wisdom, which has been acknowledged by nearly every culture in nearly every part of the world for time immemorial.

And don't you ignore the fact that wisdom and authoritativeness are mutually exclusive entities. One need not be old to be correct, and one of age is not necessarily so either.

Just voted GOP with 7 of my other lawyer pals; 3 of whom "just happen" to be Jewish. So much for traditional A.T.L.A., religious associations with the Left.

The VAST majority of Jews I know are conservative, and this is in Canada, where pretty much everyone is liberal. And if you think that Israel's policies are anything other than ultra-conservative, I would hate to have grown up in your house.
