Where am I chastising the the whole Army? I in fact support and and have a GREAT deal of respect for the the men in women in the service. Both my Grandfathers fought in WW2 that respect was bred into me. And how is what went on at Abu Garhib a political view? It's not a view, IT'S A FACT. A soldier's life BEFORE the Army should have no bearing on his/her behavior in the Army, if they're, a)properly trained, b) thier superiors are maintaining proper control over thier troops. So that arguement is totally invalid. Don't kid yourself thinking this is a handful of "bad apples". Soldiers do as their told, if they didn't you wouldn't have much of an Army. I'm not the bad guy here, I'm just pointing out the obvious but that seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable. It's real, deal with it.

I won't argue that this IS a well made game that is VERY playable, but don't ever lose sight of the fact that the Army didn't make it out of the goodness of their heart. There is an agenda there, so be careful of where you point THAT stinky finger there RacingSloth. It'll be interesting to see how many people change thier tune after November.

It wasn't intended as a funny haha joke, but then again a concept as abstract as irony WOULD be a little difficult to understand for some. The last comment was aimed at those who would call it a "political agenda" right out of the gate without putting any thought into such things.

What political agenda? It's a joke, and a timely one at that. Don't try to make it into something it's not because it doesn't match your views. I would also point out that your opinion of the subject being a "Junior High" discussion is a little disturbing to say the least. Now go watch some Fox news, or protest a Micheal Moore film it'll make you feel better.

"Digital Praise is founded on the principle that fun, exciting computer games don't need to be flooded with violence, sex, hate or images of horror," said Bean.

I wonder if they'll make the Bible Blaster game played by Rod and Todd Flanders and Bart on the Simpsons. You know, blast the heathens to convert them, but if you only wing him, he turns into a Unitarian.

Looks like they're finally going to begin work on the levels for DNF... At least until they change to the Doom3 or HL2 engine.

There you go, happy now?

"i honestly dont understand madison avenue's logic sometimes"

I do this kind of stuff for a living, and I know what you mean. This thing looks like a result of what we like to call "creative approval by commitee". Too many overpaid bootlickers who need to justify their jobs get to throw thier 2 cents worth in and it usually ends up in a disaster like this. Thing is, everybody knows what it looks like. Now the problem is nobody wants to say anything because then the shit hits the fan and the finger pointing begins. It awsome to watch, it's like Lord of the Flies in microcosm. Creativity can't be taught, you either have a certain degree of it, or not.

6. Quake Jun 22, 2004, 12:54 WebDemon

It's been 8 years since Quake already? Seems like yesterday I was talking with some clerk in a software store about Doom 2. I remember saying something like, "yeah it's great but just wait until Quake comes out." And with a blank look he answered, "What's Quake?" Mind you, then the bulk of video game news still came from those things made of paper called magazines.

Yup, throw my support behind that badboy too! That'll get rid of those pesky telephones, AND it all serves to protect our children from unlawful exploitation!!! What a wonderfully craptastic country America is!

With people like this running things, it gives me great comfort to know that I'll die one day.

P.S. We'll be happy to send you anything you all won't be able to get anymore from Canada. Oh, wait, that's right.. The rest of the fucking world will be expected to follow suit.

"I think you're in the wrong job then"

Nah, I'm just the guys who sits in the pitch and "creative" meetings then goes off to his office to push the "make funny character button" or the "make dinosaur button" on my magic commercial making machine. That in turn makes pictures and sound on the magic talking box in your livingroom. Great job, I'm just surrounded by these idiots.

"Ahhh you just gotta love marketing speak. They remind me of that sorry bastard who gets his brains nibbled on by Hannibal."

I work in Advertising. I get to listen to people SPEAK like this all frikin' day. You've seen them, those talentless asslicks who smile and nod the whole time their speaking very slowly. Makes me want to throttle them ever ytime one of those marketing dingle berries opens their useless ass mouth. With some quality ass kissing skills and "and eye for what's hip" any jackass can be in marketing.

News Comments > Game Copy Protection Issues
8. Starforce Jun 11, 2004, 12:36 WebDemon

If it's underhandedly installed, and won't leave your system when all else is removed and isn't mentioned in the EULA, then they've put themselves into the same actionable position that companies such as Gator did. Under the law, nothing may be installed on your computer without you expressed consent. Not mentioning it in the EULA doesn't afford them the protection of the good old "not responsible for any system damage this software may cause", clause that's in every EULA. What's the point of copy protection anyway? It's not slowing warez down any. Remember back in the day, of the floppy disc, when a little card in the game box would read..."Make a backup copy of your game discs BEFORE installing." How times have changed in the last 10 or 12 years...

26. Crazy from the heat... Jun 9, 2004, 15:06 WebDemon

Sorry about this heat Blue. My kid's obsessed with Harry Potter and the Dark Arts and such and I think he's managed to open the gates of hell again, thus the heat. I'm screaming, "close the goddamned gates of hell or your grounded." And Satan's all like, "Close the gaddamed gate, there's a draft and we ain't heatin' the street!" And he's all like, "but dad!!!!..." I'll see what I can do..
