News Comments > Derek Smart and Freespace 3?
18. Re: Oh my Jul 15, 2004, 20:17 WebDemon

"Would you rather see this legacy license fall into the wrong hands?"

Holy shit! Just when I think Derek Smart is the most arrogant being in existence, he tops himself yet again with that doosey of a line. For Freespace to fall into the hands of this fucking dellusional narcissist is a tragedy. For those who don't know of him, look him up. Derek Smart could fuck up a free lunch. It would take ages, be complicated to fuck up, he'd think it was revolutionary, but rest assured it would be fucked up good and proper.

Ahh, that's better. You alway feel good after a DS rant.

"Woo, nothing better in gaming than slamming Derek Smart and his phony PhD. Anyone remember all those HUGE flamewars in the Usenet comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.* in days of yor? Ahh, good times."]

HeHe, those made the diagreements in here seem bland.

1. Battlefield 2 Jul 13, 2004, 17:56 WebDemon

If Battlefield 2 for the PC is half as fun as the Desert Combat Mod was, it'll own multiplayer IMHO. The new CS screenshots from HL2 look like 50lbs of rotting ass stuffed into a 10lb bag.

Ditto here. Go fling that feces at a console or something. For $20.00 I'll bet it's just spectacular too! I think it's a plot by ID, Valve, AND 3dRealms to let us starve us half to death with crap long enough so that anything remotly good is eaten up like fresh brains at a Zombie bar mitzvah. I want my Doom3 God Dammit!

"That would mean in August of 2003 they honestly thought it would ship in Septeber '03, but were off by oh... about 15 MONTHS.
Just never made sense is all."

That's because it was Horseshit. If they spent half as much time working as they did doing interviews or watching Gabe eat with all the fascination of someone feeding a mouse to their snake we'd have HL3 by now. :b It'd be funny if Duke beat it out the door and was AMAZING. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Holy crap! Did I just say that? HAHAHAHAHA

33. Valve Jul 12, 2004, 16:07 WebDemon

WOW! Almost a year late and still not done!! Wicked! I want to like this game but I have a horrible feeling that it's going to be a heavily scripted non-event. Gotta love Doug in this article.
"However, in the case of Half-Life 2, the number 1 upgrade I can recommend is the latest GPU from ATI - that will result in more enhanced detail and superior framerate."
Didn't they tell people that last year to get them to buy the 9800 w/the free copy of the game that was still going to be a year in development because of "bad scheduling"? I wonder how much they get from ATI for waving their flag on a regular basis for them? Oh yeah, and those screenshots at the bottom were craptastic, I'd be pretty pissed off if I plunked down all that cash for a video card and the game looked like that.

As for the porn star, when we want your opinion on games, we'll take the cock out of your mouth.

Yeah I remember the disk to disc transition too. I had a fucking CD rom Drive for almost 2 years before games started to use it. I think Wing Commander came on like 10 or 12 floppies.

23. My killing Spree Jul 12, 2004, 01:30 WebDemon

Well, it's good to see that video games have given us the the desired unfeeling bloodlust required for our crusade. Wasn't the sharpened CD thing done in one of the Hellraiser movies? No matter, sounds good to me. So it's settled, if Doom goes out on a pile of CDs instead of DVD then we're off to Texas to kill Carmack et al first. We can swing by and take care of Gabe and George after, we'll just pose as pizza delivery guys. Can anybody round us up an APC? A bus just doesn't strike fear into people like a flame throwing APC.

Nice photoshop job, the lighting on the box doesn't match the rest of the pic though. I want my Doom3 god dammit!

BTW, if it comes on 6 cds instead of 1 DVD I'm gonna go on a nation wide killing spree targeting devs who refuse to make use of PC tech that's been standard equipment for like the last 5 years. Why don't they just put it out on 500 floppies while they're at it. I could make a crusade of it, picking up other Blue's readers on my coast to coast bloodbath turning us all eventually into an unstoppable dev killing juggernaut. We'll kidnap Gabe Newell and George Broussard and whore them out as prison bitches along the way so that we can at least make money for food and ammo. Who's with me? Too much maybe?

I've got a good feeling about August 3rd. That rumor's been floating around for a while now and ID isn't exactly saying no. Probably won't go either way until they know for sure themselves. The 3rd's probably a target, because as we've seen this year, spewing out a release date turns into a big steaming pile for you if you miss it at all. Next official word we hear will be "it shipped for duplication today" I suspect. Let's hope. I want my D3 god dammit.

"Speaking of movies, I just picked up The Right Stuff on DVD today. Gonna' settle in and watch it tonight. Man, I love this film. I think Sam Sheppard as Chuck Yeager in this film is one of the best movie roles acted of all time."

Halsy, you now have an ally for life now. The Right Stuff is the ultimate guy movie. Sam Sheppard's Yeager is one of my favorite characters EVER. Scott Glenn's Alan Sheppard was my fav in that movie though.

"My name, Jose Jimenez"

You forgot the fact that we don't use tar and feathers up here, we use wood chips and maple syrup.

Man, I hope THAT joke doesn't start a political shouting match on softwood lumber exports!
