If I had more time on my hands and nothing better to do, the day this remake gets released I'd stand out in front of the theater with a poster saying, "Bitches leave (the Robocop theater because it's really bad)."

I spoke with him very briefly at Quakecon once. Seemed all right.

I also recall getting on id's dedicated RtCW servers when they had those and seeing him login only to get completely destroyed and make a hasty exit several times.

Good times.

Edit: I'm old

Told you.

This is why you don't use Origin, because it tracks you(no matter what servers you play on), and EA feeds off of that and has the nerve to announce it's numbers to the public too.

Um, you can do the same with most games. MMOs usually have a '/' variable to tell you how many hours you've spent (wasted) playing.

Steam lets you know, too.

So nice to see them listen to the two people who played and complained about this game. I'm sure Darrell and Chris appreciate having their purchase patched.

News Comments > New Wolfenstein Game?
42. Re: New Wolfenstein Game? Feb 10, 2013, 19:44 Sphinx

The single-player for the last Wolfenstein game great fun but damn that multiplayer to hell. RtCW/ET was the *perfect* team based shooter that didn't have vehicles and was only matched by Team Fortress 2 six years later.

Many people waited eight years for a new Wolfenstein multiplayer and what was provided was just horrendous in too many ways to enumerate here.

So they finally wised up and went to the Eastern Front. I want peasant armies, women snipers, and internal security forces shooting their own soldiers as they run.

Russia starts out with a 10:1 numerical advantage but only 2 of them have a gun.

But, if it reaches the $4 million mark, we will bring in more artists (ferrari's/porcshe's) and if it hits the $5 million mark, a larger QA (hookers, cocaine) team. At $6 mil we can make it into an MMO (more cars, hookers, drugs) etc. etc.

I see a pattern forming here....

You are thinking of EA and $50+ million budgets.

Okay so if the WL2 people get up to $10 million we get to see a booth and some babes at some game convention giving out free handjobs? Time to tap the 401k.

I started the day after F2P went live, and I'm already level 40 (Rear Admiral) of max 50. It really seems too easy. The stupid thing is that turning up the difficulty does not give more XP like DDO (the only other MMO I ever really messed with), so why bother?

Goodness, how many hours a day are you playing?

The new Odyssey ship they let you get for the anniversary is a big, fat target. It has 4 weapons slots on front and back but turns so poorly you might as well remove any power from your engines and put it all in weapons and shields.

I stopped playing STO about a year ago but started up again now that its free to play. The best new thing is the duty officer (DOFF) roster. Now you can send other NPCs off to do missions for you and get some experience and money. In fact the timer to complete those missions for the DOFFs runs even when you're not logged into the game.

Or if they have special bonuses like a chance to have your weapons cool down quicker you can take them off of away missions and make them a ship officer. Best comparison I could think of would be these DOFFs are like the gems or imbuing of weapons in other MMOs.

After you finish the main storyline there's not much to do except grind about 10 "Kill the Borg" missions for special drops. To its credit though the missions to level are pretty fun but that might just be my Trek nerdiness talking. Please don't kick sand in my face.

It had objective multiplayer? I thought it was just team deathmatch nonsense.

Well just like how your friend might have had sex with your dad to "take one for the team" your buddy Sphinx here tried to play a lot of the re-release of Wolfenstein.

The single player was good fun -- as Raven often has done well -- but the multiplayer was by another party and it just fell really flat. It did have objective and stopwatch maps but with each side being limited to less than 12 players and the feel and weapons not being nearly as much fun made it a very poor sequel to such a fine game like RtCW and RtCW: ET.

It's disappointing too when all that needed to be done was take everything from Quake Wars, remove the vehicles, reskin it, and make a few new maps. And there would've been RtCW2.

Well, I have to admit that I am not overly familiar with Team Fortress, I always assumed that it is mostly CTF based whereas Enemy Territory seems to be based on achieving objectives.
I guess I'm probably wrong.
Still, no game will ever be like Enemy Territory (because no game engine will ever have the same movement as the Quake 3 engine *sigh*).

Well look what assuming does. It makes an ass out of you and me. But in this case, mostly you.

In TF2 there were escort maps (like the tank on Enemy Territory or the goldrush map) but instead the objective was to escort a cart with a bomb in it.

Unlike ET the escort object in TF2 would move backwards if you didn't stay near it. A few community made maps had a cart for both sides so you had to push your own and try to push the other team off theirs.

There are also capture the point maps but I preferred the cart maps.

It might behoove you to play the game before you accuse someone of "not being serious." RtCW:ET is one of the finest shooters ever made and TF2 expanded on it a bit and of course gave us hats to look totally pimp in while murdering people. TF2 is the younger nephew who idolized and improved on what his uncle did in life.

Hell, TF2 is free now, give it a shot.

Watch it turn out to be Wolfenstein Enemy Territory revamped and reskinned, mostly for console gamers.

That was the Wolfenstein game from two years ago. It's understandable if you forgot about it though either through the passage of time or suppressing the terrible memory of the awful multiplayer in that game.

Please tell me you are not serious. TFC/TF2 are nothing like Enemy Territory, I even dare say that ET was rather unique in its gameplay, not only concerning how the maps were designed and how the game mechanics worked but that every map had some background i.e. a small story behind it.
Team Fortress on the other hand never seemed very interesting to me.

From the simple fact about how many hours I sunk into Enemy Territory and TF2 they are exactly the same. So many, many hours wasted

Plus, some of the game mechanics were pretty similar but that comes with the whole team shooter territory I suppose.
