News Comments > RPS on Crysis 2
3. Re: RPS on Crysis 2 Mar 29, 2011, 20:58 necrosis

If people say Crysis 2 is shit over the graphics alone then they have issues.

Crysis 2 fails hard on many more issues than how it "looks".

Typical.

God damn you're a whiny little bitch. I mean seriously.
Something about liking to play on PC and constantly getting screwed over.

Here is to hoping they are using a new version of rar that compresses better.

Oh wait these are the 360 sizes.

EDIT: Just checked the PC sizes and they are about the same.

I know file size is not everything but this might not be as good as Shadow Broker was.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "tons" but there are a decent number of console ports that support DX11.

"Tons" is laughable, but "a decent amount" is almost as funny.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_11_support
And most of them only have minor DX11 components and not even close to full support.
Jerykk, I am dissapoint.
Even the list for DX10 games is sad.

It's also important to distinguish between the quality of the game and the quality of the port. There were a lot of lousy design decisions made in DA2 but that has nothing to do with the port. The port itself is well-done and the PC version is the best of all three versions. Ideally, PC versions wouldn't be ports but since they are ports the majority of the time, that's something of a moot point.
It is also important to not that wile a game might be a good port it does not make it a good PC game. Not by a long shot. Especially when its a sequel that completely destroys what the franchise was before it came to consoles.

As an example: Crysis 2 might be better on PC because of higher resolutions compared to consoles making it a better port. But overall its a horrible game by PC standards and by what was done in Crysis 1.

All those games were reviewed poorly because reviewers all reviewed the console versions and the console versions were all buggy and ugly versions with bad UIs. It's much easier to start at the bottom and then add what you have time to add.
And you get the same thing when a game is ported from Console to PC. Dragon Age II is a total pile of dumbed down crap. Horrible UI and horrible, simplified game mechanics.

Raven Shield was the same way. The last good version was RVS.

The problem is everything goes both ways. Weather its PC to Console or vice verse. These games need to be developed separately and ports need to die.

They should be glad they are not playing FFXIV. The **ONLY** way to update the game is through their client which uses BitTorrent.

the ability to shoot the gun and attack with a sword at the same time are pretty cool.

I was not aware you could do that. I've seen that the gun/ammo icon pops up at the top right of the equipped weapon icon but i didn't know what it was for. The only time I've seen it work is when I trigger some finishing move while sword fighting where Ezio will shoot the guy. How do I do it manually?
Hold the attack button down and he will target whoever your focused on. Release to fire. The "targeting" of the gun in AC:B is also **MUCH** faster than it was in AC2.

Also I noticed his stab rate with the hidden blade in close quarters multi target fighting is also **MUCH** better. With it you can take out like 10 guys in seconds. Where as in AC2 it would take forever, or you had to run away then run back at the dude so he would stab them for a one hit kill.

Hitting the space bar to kick them when using the sword also makes things much easier. The only way I could really kill anyone in AC2 with a sword was to counter the guards.

Steam chat with SILK is now also automatically available for all games that take advantage of the Steamworks Voice API.

Oh ... look. Yet another 'new internet thing' which will require bandwidth. Too bad places like Canada, and now in the US(AT&T and Charter) are putting heavy, punitive bandwidth caps in place.

Maybe steam should get involved in this.
I dont know about Charter but AT&T's caps are no worse than Comcasts (250GB).

If that were not the case, all the games that used Starforce (which took a year to crack) and UbiDRM (took a month to crack) would have presumably sold a lot more than they did.
God I remember that. What was it? Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory? Took a year and change to crack it because it used a brand new version.

Game companies frequently infrequently remove the software copy protection in a patch after a game has been out for a year or so and/or released in a GOTY edition (often with no fanfare at all the protection is removed).

The point is that software copy protection is all about protecting sales of newly released software because that is when unit sales are greatest.
Fixed.

These release date checks are set to unlock at midnight LOCAL time; so it unlocks in New Zealand 24 hours before it unlocks in Hawaii.
Another reason this crap sucked. I know some friends that got the PC version and could not play it for 3 more hours because they were ET and it wouldn't unlock till midnight PT. Yet their console friends were playing it as soon as they got home.
