But at small LAN parties there usually is no internet. Or there is but they shut it off because of assholes torrenting and what not. I also now have a laptop I can game on. Where other than at home hardly is on the internet. Or somewhere the internet is restricted (port 80 ONRY!). I don't know how many times I have killed hours in airports with the FIRST STARCRAFT, Quake 2/3, or other games like that. All not requiring internet.
Not to mention 3 days Ubi's servers got FUCKED and I couldn't play AC:B. A game I legitimately bought. This was a few months after release too. Not the clusterfuck at launch. |

I am not about to spend $60 for a game I can not return. You are completely delusional if you expect people to do this with how PC gaming is now a days. The demo gave me enough feel for what it had become and that this title was a no buy. Hell, the first trailers and released information on this game made me shudder.
How Bioware can stick to their guns over DA2 is beyond me. I really doubt the sales were even remotely close to DA:O (which IIRC broke records for the company). That alone should kick them in the crotch and realize they did something seriously wrong.
I really do put the blame squarely on EA. I knew things were going downhill when EA bought Bioware and demanded a version of DA:O for consoles and delayed the PC version 6 months when it was DONE. |

Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content. No other download service has adopted these practices. Unfortunately, EA has adopted a set of restrictive terms that limit how customers can access the games they love. No other developer has adopted these practices. |

kanniballl wrote on Aug 8, 2011, 14:20: You can reach 30 in 15hours of play (if you know what you're doing), I was in the beta (PSN+ access) and I hit the beta cap (15 IIRC) inside a day. This alone turned me off to the game. No to mention I would have preferred to play on PC which I heard was a complete abysmal port.
While the game was cool it really felt like a Fisher Price MMO. Like those crappy web based ones advertised during Saturday morning cartoons.
And finally stack on PC and PS3 being on different servers that sealed the deal for not buying into it.
Say that reminds me. Was the PC version down during the PSN hacks or was it still running? |

I had a Steam account for almost 2 years before I actually used it. Registered when it first came out but didn't get my first Steam game (HL2) till years later. Did the same thing with Twitter. Had an account around when it came out, never used it till I got a iPhone.
Canning accounts if you don't use them on a service that is loaded with DRM? Achievements are moot. I lost my Quake Live account because I didn't use it for a while. Never got a notice or was warned it was going to nuked. Lost my achievement for playing the beta and enduring its teething issues. |

Which is in and which is out?
When was the last swing? I think this is the FIRST swing. The first time consoles stood a chance next to PC gaming ever. So saying things 'swing'... heh you must be able to see the future. |

Verno wrote on Jul 29, 2011, 08:32: I just haven't been super interested in most Ubisoft titles over past several years. Not really happy with what they did to Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon. Assassin's Creed is the one decent thing they've done in awhile. I'm simply buying less Ubisoft games because they're making JUST DANCE 2 PARTY BABIEZ instead of games I want to play. Hell the DRM is kind of inconsequential, its only affected two titles I want. Kinda the same here. The DRM turned me off the latest Splinter Cell and the gameplay sealed the deal. Rainbow Six has been dead since RVS to me. The pile of shit R6: Vegas and everything after completely destroyed the franchise. Ghost Recon the same thing. Fond memories of playing the first game for hours with friends on both Mac & PC... on the same servers.
AC is the only thing from Ubi I really care about right now. |

Awakening is on Steam but all the little ones require you to get Bioware points added to your EA account (from their website) then downloaded in game. |
