Gabe is great, and I love Valve, but let's get real here.

Gabe stood on Alcatraz island at an AMD launch event saying that Half Life 2 was ready to ship, and that it would be bundled with all new AMD cards. 48 hours later he had to admit the game was still at least a year away, and people got cd-key cards instead of a game.

Given his track record, I can see why he keeps quiet about HL3. When he has something to show, we'll all know it.

Yeah, HL2s delay was a major screwup, not the delay itself, but the way it was handled. As I recall, they promised HL2 on something like "sept 30" in May before that september, and then, as the summer went by, they went into some kind of panic mode, and instead of TELLING people that "its not coming out in september" they kept silent, and when they were asked in like late august early september if the game was going to be delayed, they said stupid shit like "Not that we know of..". Most people can deal with and excuse delays, but we dont like being lied to.

I totally understand that they dont want to create that trap for themselves, but it really was a royal screwup that they not only walked into, but kept making worse.

I suppose they have decided not to say anything until the game is nearly complete this time around, but how do you define "nearly"? I suppose when you have the content and game up running and playable start-to-finish, its about halfway there or so...

And there was the whole thing about some hacker leaking an alpha build they used as a convenient scapegoat. It was funny how much drama that caused with fragmaster at planethalflife.

The Arkham games always have the best cgi trailers. I say it every time a new one comes out Warner needs to do a full 2 hour Batman movie in this style.

Oh, I know main reason for such acquisition: somebody -finally- decided to kick those game makers from "Terminal Reality" to -finally- make a new sci-fi aerial combat master piece, sequel/remake/reboot "Terminal Velocity"! They published it under "3D Realms" back in 1995, and there is nothing better than "Terminal Velocity" in that genre ever since. Well, it is about time now!

Terminal Reality closed last year.

I'd be interested in hearing what acts the US government did in the 20th century that were more shameful than rounding up American citizens based on their ethnicity and putting them in internment camps for the duration of the war.

how about dropping nuclear bombs on civilian targets? killing over 100,000 non-combatants? that didnt cross your mind?

No. 1) We were at war with Japan. We were not at war with Americans. 2) That was a calculated attempt to end the war without having to invade, costing hundreds of thousands of American casualties and millions of Japanese ones. 3) We would have dropped them on Germany too, had the war not ended earlier there. Before we nuked them we used firebombing, which was applied to both countries equally.

It's not like the US had a nuclear weapons stockpile to draw from, either. The two bombs they dropped was pretty much it.

But you gotta love Progressive FDR for rounding up Japanese citizens and how Democrats today worship him as a hero. They never indicted a single Japanese-American spy during that entire period.

Ya they sold the Duke IP, so no. They also don't, AFAIK, own the Wolfenstein IP... so that leaves them... not a hell of a lot, Commander Keen: Reloaded?

The rights to Commander Keen are even more fucked up. I believe it's split with Zenimax/Bethesda currently. They recently denied and blocked Tom Hall when he asked before releasing the newly discovered source code to the original games.

Why? And maybe in some alternative universe where Gearbox isn't controlling the license blocking them from releasing anything about the game the last time around.

It's funny how even when they clearly label the video with "All assets and code in this video are pre alpha and do not represent final production quality" people still manage to miss it.

Nice. I've been waiting for this before getting back into the game. The quick-save and save while quitting eliminates so many headaches.

The update really fixes a ton of problems such as the awkward UI, somewhat shallow combat, and random slowdowns. It still doesn't have sneaking, though. And they re-broke custom portraits. I'm glad they are on the right track.

Currently I wouldn't rate this anywhere near Fallout 1+2 and will likely never reach that level of greatness. However it is already better than Fallout Tactics by a mile. If you liked that game you'll love Wasteland 2.

I don't care at all about the new Thief. I had ZERO expectations. Previously I had as much interest in this game as I had for DX:HR. In the end the new Deus Ex was good and this new Thief is bad. Watching those who preordered and invested so much time believing every canned preview get screwed over because of their own inability to exercise patience amuses me greatly.

That doesn't make it a good metric for measuring anything. It's like asking Intel or AMD if their processors can make you shoot lightening out of your eyes.

Unfortunately that's the world we live in. Just ask Obsidian Entertainment.

Redmask, you're right. Blue's is known for revisionists and flip floppers.

Man, don't you just love the American "free market". Yessir, all that competition driving better service at lower prices certainly is something to see! Oh wait, that's what happening in all those "socialist" countries! Hrm, well how is that possible?!

Wow such appalling ignorance Cutter, apparently you ignored the the other article right here in Morning Metaverse... "Venezuelan government shuts down internet".

So many of you liberals have absolutely no idea what you ask for, cause you have no idea what it's like outside your basement and lofty ideals. Go join the forces, do something for our country, experience the world, and come back wise. Or... just keep typing ignorance on useless forums and whine about being jobless or something, or waste your mommys money on drinking in college and keep on complaining!

And this is surprising to you? Cutter, like all liberals on video game forums, creates his own reality that exists only in his mind and on the internet. He has a built-in censor that blocks his ability to recognize anything outside a narrow minded worldview constructed with lies and nonsense buzzwords.

Yeah, I worked for over a decade in games and proprietary software - including 2 years at EA. What's your history, sport? Oh right, nothing. So shut up.

You haven't worked on anything, fraud.

As for myself, the largest company I worked for was Disney for several years back when they were transitioning the "old guard" out with the new kids. You complain and whine about capitalism so much you should have seen what is was like then.

How disappointing. The same studio released the excellent Deus Ex: Human Revolution 2 years ago, but a quick glance at the credits seems to indicate that the same leads did not work on Thief. What a shame.

On the positive side, that's probably because the DX:HR team is actively working on a sequel.
I don't think DXHR is 'excellent', but I have to say it's at least not a disaster like this Thief reboot apparently is. HR was an inferior copy of the original, but at least it copied some good things. Thief seems to have lost almost everything that made the originals so treasured.

It's a shame because DX:HR was clearly going in the right direction after the embarrassing Invisible War. The game wasn't great but I had high hopes for the studio. Whatever goodwill they created has slipped away.

I want to know what his whining and crybaby temper tantrum on a video game website has done to fix his little problem?

Did you ever so much as try calling Comcast to complain? Once a year almost like clockwork I have to call them when they try doubling my bill to $170 or fucking up my account's phone number. Every time they fixed it in seconds and gave me a free month just for the inconvenience.

You know what I should have done? I should have found some invisible corner of the internet and blame some random person then preach about nothing.

The only thing that will turn things around is if people stop buying when it gets too expensive. Comcast will get too big until they are forced to split apart. But I hope it never changes just so I can continue watching it cause you such mental anguish.

I like how the moderator is cherry picking what posts to delete while ignoring your raging.

How utterly typical for a conservative. All set to be aggressive and offensive, until they're responded to in kind, at which point they bitch and moan and play victim.

How typical of a liberal coward putting words in a person's mouth such as claiming I support any politician or even Comcast. I dislike them, too (actually paying more than you, believe it or not) but I can afford it. Whining on a video game site does nothing.
