The game is back on Steam Greenlight. For something that looked like a cheap 3D remake of Postal most people probably don't give a shit about they sure got a lot of free publicity out of this non-event.

That self-same guy then did a Crew video, where he just tried to do a simple burnout and then a power slide in a 2013 Mustang GT, and couldn't pull either one of despite repeated attempts, due to the god-awful driving and physics model.

And that would be due to the fact car handling is upgradable with more time spent playing. They give you worse handling at the beginning of the game - probably wasn't a great design decision given how that's created that reputation for the game.

Ah, I see. Well, that was a fucking terrible decision. I'm not going to grind through 10, 20...50...200? hours of shitty driving before I finally get high enough "level" that my cars start handling somewhat decently.

To summarize: Fuck the Crew and its shitty handling.

It takes about 4-5 hours to reach the max level in the game by doing random skill challenges. I was at 50 with three of my cars over 1200 before I even finished the Detroit/St. Louis starting region. The handling is fine if you change from the horrible default settings that make no sense on a wheel or xbox/playstation controller. That seems to be the source of all the complaints. Don't use the default settings.

The Crew is only really hard at the beginning of the game in the first few story missions. Tweak your controls, level up by doing challenges, and it becomes a cakewalk after a day or two. This is one of the easiest driving games I ever played when you understand how it works. Seemingly impossible missions such as escaping the cops and chases can be finished in seconds if you simply turn around at the start or pay attention to their driving path. Otherwise play in coop and it's easier. Money also pours in and you don't have to do anything. In 1 day I made a million "game bucks" by sending friends on faction missions. I didn't even play, just added 4 random people to each mission then came back later and collected. It doesn't make sense how you can pull in a fortune by literally doing nothing while the story missions and everything else are worth a few peanuts.

Honestly the biggest problem The Crew has (if you don't have any technical issues) is the whole "MMO" aspect is a total lie. Only 8 people or friends will randomly show up in your game across the whole map. PVP is fun but initiating a match can take anywhere from a few seconds, 20 minutes or 1 hour. I have no idea how matchmaking is supposed to work because I'm frequently stuck with people who are several hundred levels behind me.

Car customization is great, though. It works just like they advertised and you can spend a long time making your car look however you want. They get bonus points for including my actual ride in the game.

Anyway, this went from a quick reply to a whiskey fueled semi-review. I'm enjoying The Crew and hope Ubisoft/Ivory Tower continue to support it because they have the foundation for a great game. However, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody except the most die hard driving game fans who want something a little different. The truly massive open world sets a new precedent. There's also a bias toward American cars. You have a handful of exotic super cars but almost no Japanese tuners and a few other foreign models available. For me that's not a problem. If you hate classic muscle and love ricers you'll feel burned.

Unless I'm mistaken Bethesda currently owns all the assets created for Van Buren aka Black Isle's Fallout 3. It was also never "85% completed" or whatever rumor the internet cooked up. Former Black Isle developers such as Josh Sawyer refuted that claim years ago.

Saw Interstellar on Sunday and was almost as bad as Prometheus. The one and only positive for me was the technology at least seemed like it's grounded in reality. The rest was too sappy to take seriously. It doesn't help that John Lithgow is the only actor in the movie I really like and he's way underused. Matthew McConaughey's been on a role the past few years with Mud, Dallas Buyer's Club and Killer Joe. I'll remember those movies and feel myself becoming a fan. Interstellar was entirely forgettable and unnecessary.

To anyone wanting to jump in with shit like "Oh you just didn't get it!". I loved 2001, 2010, Solaris, and Moon. Interstellar is nowhere near their league. This is closer to The Black Hole and Contact.

And remember, there is no embargo on reviews once the game is launched! We're Ubisoft, your pals!

It seemed pretty pointless when they allowed everyone in beta to post whatever they wanted from detailed impressions to videos and live streams.

They are just making it easier to not preorder. Isn't that a good thing for gamers? Wait for reviews and trusted impressions from whoever you like when the game is available then decide whether to give them your money.

I never played the original as I thought at the time the graphics were weak and it was just some cheap knock off of Left 4 Dead.

That's a shame because Killing Floor was a completely different animal to L4D. It's way more fast paced and unforgiving. For me L4D felt like a casual shooter with far too much level scripting and not enough challenge. The initial Killing Floor UT2k4 mod actually released 3 years before it.

I am so ready to put hundreds of more hours into this game. Starting with the free mod to the original game they only improved KF dramatically over the years.

JC2 is on sale for $3. If you don't have it already what the hell are you waiting for?

Also, this mouse aiming fix patch is absolutely 100% necessary to fully enjoy the game.

Hopefully JC3 doesn't require a fan made mouse fix.

What a coincidence, that scenario popping up today. The world sure is an interesting place.

I had a big long speech ready for him about the evils of capitalism and how spoiled he is (while thinking of the geniuses at Blue's News of course) but I think I'll say happy Veteran's Day instead.

No, Boomers sit around all day burning through their inheritance and consuming on a ridiculous scale with a scorched earth policy for everyone else

Well I guess I should hurry and tell my father how privileged he was when he was drafted into the Vietnam War. He is a spoiled consumer after all and owes me big time, right? I'd lecture my uncle but he died of cancer he contracted from being exposed to Agent Orange. So spoiled.

Can anyone who bought the game say if it's anywhere near as popular as Borderlands 2 was at release? Nowadays high level coop servers are pretty damn sparse.

Anybody who thinks there's a single conservative (or even middle of the road person) working at Viacom owned Comedy Central is fooling themselves. Colbert was always a piss-take. They deliberately put Sarkeesian on the show to pander to the audience of ignorant easily controlled college kids. The kiddies who gobble this stuff up and regurgitate it on the internet pretending it's an original thought. The problem they have now is the agenda is less than paper thin and the majority sees right through it. The kiddies are confused.

We haven't had free market monies or finance here in a very long time.

It's so funny that you can make statements like this while decrying "socialism" because your essential argument--"The free market never really failed because it wasn't really a free market!"--is the EXACT SAME argument a diehard Leninist would make for the failure of communism! "Communism never really failed because there never really was a true communist state!"

Oh, the irony ...

Except its not the same. Not that Im giving creedence to LittleMe's theory or anything, Im just saying that for all intents and purposes the free-market is pretty much what we have right now and it hasnt really failed. It's working out great for the 1%!
As far as Communism is concerned its doing pretty well for itself in China.

It also created you, the most spoiled generation in all of human history.

InBlack is a white Baby Boomer?

Honestly, I'd like to see a spaghetti western setting. That's one era in FPS that hasn't really been explored very much and I think it would make for some good laughs like Blood Dragon.

Now that, would be awesome.

Dude, this idea would be bawler. As long as Clint Eastwood kind of dude is the main character, The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly with the usual one-liners, "You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig." Also this music.

It's not open world but I recommend Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

Are you trying to say corporations don't run the government?

I'm saying if the corporations run the government then aren't they running Obama? Judging by all of his actions over the past 6 years what kind of idiot would believe a word he says?

Maybe you should move into a bomb shelter to hide from the big scary corporations. Or maybe a cave in the middle of the wilderness. Weyland Yutani is real, right? WE'LL NEVER DEFEAT THE CORPORATION!
