Special Editions = More junk to collect dust in the basement.
I typically dont buy them unless its something WAY awesome in the game. Even Dragon Age SE didnt apeal to me. Most just dont. Though I do like the TINS they used to use a lot of the time. I picked a couple of those over the years. |

I was totally going to comment on how they like to use sugar coated words like "realigned" and "maximize performance" lol. |

zirik wrote on Jul 3, 2010, 12:59: i tend to agree with steve jobs on bluray. people i know who work in the movie industry think that its a stop gap technology to something better because they are already shooting movies at much higher resolutions than 1080p. even 35mm film has more resolution than what current HDTV offers. i have scanned 35mm velvia film to 75 megapixels and people could not tell the difference between it and a medium format or digital source. That's not what he's getting at (in fact, as you're getting at, film professionals have been shooting at far higher resolutions for far longer, as many of the restorations of old film prints will attest). By that logic, DVD is as much of a "stop gap technology" as Blu-Ray.
What Jobs is saying is that physical media for movies is irrelevant because he wants you to download movies from the iTunes Store. Never mind the fact that most of the "high-definition" content on the Store is relatively slapdash in terms of quality (720p at bitrates as low as 2Mbit and stereo sound); because Apple can be the be-all end-all gatekeeper to content, he thinks that is the way to go. I completely agree with that. Most all of Jobs rejections seem to be based on knowledge of a future, or a desire to dominate a branch of something, or of course a combination of both.
Edit: Or better put. Most of his rejections of things are purely driven by an agenda. |

What I found odd is that the first one (with Rock Band) ended with a kid showing up. I'm guessing a son or young brother. Yeah totally. Well did you not notice the kid sitting behind her to? Kids all over and a naked chick playing drums. lol |

| EA's goal is to get into the MMO market. They've been trying to compete for years on end with little success. UO has been there ultimate which lives to this day. Mythic was to be there MMO place but as that seems to not be the plan anymore. |

Welcome to the minority I guess. Thats not entirely true. I shop at both. I find gog to provider a niche service for me. Its got old games i want. I dont like how steam handles old games. GOG on the other hand seems to put some effort forth (along with the community there) to support the products sold there.
Steam is more my modern day route. Im a Steam > GOG > D2D guy. Though my first initial digital games were bought on D2D way back when it was new. |

| Ive bought a few games there. I dont think they are over priced, and the games I did buy worked with no fuss at all. I could always go in to the dosbox and tweak it if I like though. =) |

Lord Tea wrote on Jun 29, 2010, 23:15: has GTA 4 been decrapified (no goddamn DRM except the steam one and are those like 27 required registrations/accounts gone)? $5 Sounds like a steal but I can wait longer if they force me to. Well. I noticed a "steamsecurom" during the initial launch set ups. Theres the G4WL you gotta sign in to, and somewhat optionally rockstar social club. I clicked remind me later on it. Dunno if itll pop back up next launch though. That was it.
Played up until the first apartment. Seemed to run smooth for me. Dunno bout anything beyond that heh. |
