regardless of the add campains i hope they get their act together, last thing we need is a one company industry like we had during the geforce2 ultra to gefroce 4 era. things move a lot better when the compitition is on.

ya, considering what they did with the quake2 engine back then i hardly think it is an issue that they are useing the quake3 engine for this game. these guys are some of the best in the busness, i am looking forward to this one, although i do wish they would throw some deathmatch together.

lol ya but it is just buggy as hell last i saw of it, buy menus are convoluted, guns stick though walls, movement is sloppy and half the buttons on the keyboard are not even bindable. great idea for a game, pitiful execution.

"One thing I don't like about U2 is how slow the character moves. His 'run' speed should be how fast he walks."
if they did that the game would only take 4 hours to beat.
seriously though, i bought the game when it first came out and wound up takeing it back because it ran so poorly at the time(lots of action at ~20fps on a 9700pro and a 100+). the demo runs a lot better so apparently the got the bugs out of it so i will probably pick it up again when i see it selling for cheap.

cg is just a shader creation tool, it has nothing to do with hardware and anyone can use it, althow nvidia does hold their own propitary compiler. however, 3dlabs and ati have their own shader language and can make compliers for cg as well.
as for hl2, i don't buy into speculation much; but it would be nice to see another valve quality game.

the developers made the game, if they are going to let it get whored around fileplanet or any other big money-makeing sites that is their own choice. if i downloaded the demo for free and found that it was a good game, then they could have my money when i went to the store and bought the game.

i still am an optimist but i am not an idiot; so i sure as hell am not going to pay file planet so that i can download a bunch of crappy demos for crappy games, even if there are a few good ones that i might miss out on.

no kidding, it is obviously a way for them to make money and the fact that we can make money as well is simply there to lure people in. granted, this is how such things work but it doesn't make them anything more than wrong.

i think that just goes to show that they are the "work now, talk after" type people; lord knows we could use more of that in the computer world.
