No skill trees? That really shocks me!

I freaking love skill trees and it is the king of replayability. I managed to play WoW for years on end because of the classes and their skill trees!

Guess I'll be looking forward to Torchlight 2 more, then.

This or that... Steam IS overrated and it still manages to fuck with your performance. Fact is that both AvP and FNV ran better after I cracked them (the first more obviously so than the latter).

Besides, it's hard with all those people wanking off on steam while screaming how awesome it is and "does everything for you".. but I finally managed to come to the realization that those arguments are right about the saddest.. saddest things I've heard in my life.

I use bluesnews to keep me updated on patches, and I use the 2mb per second gamershell mirrors to download them. I do spend a tad more callories in this way though, which might be another argument for the PRO steam people.

Don't get me wrong. Steam is ok. I think.

Wait. What?

Maybe I'm at that point too. Not sure. Quit right after I died after being two-shotted by some plasma spitting sea-mutants.

I love ED-E and Boone.

Oh, and where can I find a decent sniper rifle without killing Boone for it?

The biggest horror of that dreadful swamp are the "invisible walls" around the mage's tower. It was skintearingly frustrating navigating your way around that crap.

That tutorial girl with her dog Chayenne or something... she disappeared after that scripted gunfight stuff. Did I miss stuff? Since I couldn't talk to her after the battle was over. Her being gone and all. Not dead. Just gone.

I sadly had to make the choice of turning off hardcore mode. I couldn't stand the inventory management due to constant weight issues and searching through my inv for water and food that didn't do annoying stuff like -1STR.

I would've kept hardcore mode on, however, if ammo just didn't add any weight. So fucking tedious.

NOW THAT I THINK OF IT..!! *lets the excitement of the realization quiet down* The first weird encounter I had was a skeleton with a cowboy hat in a refrigerator. It, of course, was an easter egg linking to one of the most ridiculous scenes in history where Indiana Jones puts himself in a refrigerator as he gets nuked by a bomb!

Hehe.. if it's not too often, immersion breakers like that are ok ^^
That would be the one I was referring to that I was trying to avoid spoiling when I said "the infamous nuking the fridge moment"

To clarify, the scene in the movie is not ridiculous because of jumping in the fridge, the ridiculous part is that he emerges unscathed

I'm looking forward to other encounters of this type. I hear the strat guide has a complete list, but I didn't end up getting a strat guide, I think I'll avoid that for at least my first playthrough.

Oh that wasnt so bright of me then, spoiling it. But didnt you edit that fridge line later? I was reading on the road so might've missed it ^^

Adds about 15 special encounters that are like the funky things that happened in FO1 & 2 (remember that one encounter where you find the star trek shuttle crash? I think there was even a phaser you could pickup in that crash). I think it replaces a couple normal encounters as well. Some people (such as myself) loved the humor of the encounters in those games. Some people hate them because they take away from the "immersion" of the game.

Thanks for explaining that to me. I wasn't sure that's what it did but you comfirmed it!

Immersion is the #1 reason I play games, which is at the same time also the #1 reason I'm a PC gamer.. I think.

I'm not having the issues except for the fluctuating mouse sensitivity which isn't that bad.

First thing I did after I installed the game was crack it with skid..row because I have a solid aversion for steam f'ing up my immersion in singleplayer games and the fact steam f'ed up my AvP performance.

Who knows.. But if your game is ridden with crashes and slowdowns... Give a fixed exe a try.

I got the game! Yup, I did. It's indeed Fallout 3 "but better" like many reviews say.

I don't have any performance issues so far (played it for 2 hours only) but one thing is weird with the mouse:

The sensitivity seems to... fluctuate? It's like I have some sort of "smooth mouse" option enabled or whatever. It's damn annoying. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Maybe it's because I have Vsync enabled? There's also this minor weirdness with my character sometimes taking another step before stopping, while I had already lifted my finger from the keyboard. Often when I'm stopping while making a curve.

I'm going to Amsterdam right about now so no time to try to fix it myself just yet. If anyone has an idea what's up with the weirdness... let me know, please.

You said that you didn't like "Fallout 3". Therefore, my piece of advice for you is to stay far, far away from "Fallout: New Vegas". If you didn't like FO3, you won't like FNV.

I never said I didn't like Fallout 3. I said that I played it so much I bled it dry and at some point didn't even wanna think about the game anymore. Ever got beyond wasted on your favorite booze? You probably didn't wanna touch that drink anymore for months afterwards. That's what I had with Fallout 3.

I didn't really think much of New Vegas but from what I've been reading today New Vegas appears to add some new stuff that actually adds something to the gameplay experience.

...But I never said I didn't like Fallout 3

Oh man Verno, Im trying to resist buying this game for now since Im pretty much broke ATM but fuck Im a sucker for words comparing ANY game favourably with Fallout2....

I'm low on cash too, but I'm very very happy to see that I've most likely been wrong in thinking this game wouldn't make up to the hype it had. Although many many people say it's pretty much Fallout 3 "but better", I think even that is enough for me to go out there and buy the game.

The only fucker is that I want a hardcopy and I can't get one before the 22nd here in The Netherlands. You guys know that 60% (if I remember correctly) of the reasons why people pirate games is availability? No shit!

GAHH! JESUS CHRIST THAT'S CREEPY AS SHIT!

I thought that was just part of the regular gameplay. They nailed the creepiness.

Hahaha that was scary and hilarious! For a sec I thought the player was waking up from a realllly bad mushroom trip.. or something like that.

Hmpf.. thinking of buying it tomorrow. People seem to be enjoying it, which whets me to pull out da cash..

Is it truly worth 40 euros?

I certainly hope they don't cap it at 30 FPS. I refuse to play any 3D game (especially a console port) at 30 FPS when I have a 4870X2.

Same here. Unleashed was one of the first games I tried out on my new gig. I didnt know about the 30fps limit back then. Imagine how I felt...

Am I the only one who didn't have any problems with the first town? Maybe I just have a longer attention span than most people but I didn't find it boring at all.

I was having a hard time with Old Town Vizima indeed, the first playthrough. But that was because I wasnt used to The Witcher's way of quests. Everyone was guilty for me, because.. why the hell not, you know? That bit me in the ass at the end, when the Wild Hunt ghost told me about all my deeds. Hehe, I loved that.

Second playthrough I had more fun in Old Town, but it was after the swamp stuff that the game truly started to shine.

The Witcher 2 is on the very top of my very small wishlist.

Here's a conclusion from a random review I read:

thats the review by the guy that didnt even play the game - he mentions nothing about new features at all or anything about the differences between it and f3 in relation to f1 and f2

and arent you the guy thats talking about how awesome Arcania Gothic 4 is?? that pretty much invalidates any opinion of RPGs you might have, sorry

Sadly Arcania collapses to a mediocre game after Tooshoo, though it was certainly becoming better and better before that and I matter of factly enjoyed it a lot to that point.

Most people here, so it would seem, cry rivers of sorrow not if a game isn't good... but even if a game is not what they expect from the genre it says it is. I always said Arcania is not worthy to be called Gothic. But whatever you say, the game was fun up until Tooshoo even if it doesnt live up to the "RPG" genre.
