QUICK QUESTION:

IF!!! I'm getting Cataclysm... does that mean I'm getting a free month? Or do I have to pay 30,- PLUS 13,-? Because that would be a bigass demotivator.

WoW got to 10million users not because of marketing but because of the quality of the product.

Hardly. WoW got big because it was accessible to non-gamers, was Mac/PC out of the box, would run on any hardware due to crap graphics, and became extremely trendy.

There's nothing special about WoW beyond it's adoption by the drooling masses who don't actually play games.

No, I don't agree with this at all.

WoW's graphics may be crap by now... but a few years ago they were... well, lets call it "smart". The textures, albeit cartoonish, are sharp and you don't need a high-end PC to run the game on high details. That, plus the fact this game actually IS open-world. It never has to load unless you change continents or enter instances.

There also was a time where WoW had a beautiful ballance between accessibility and complexity. Experienced gamers had a big adventage. They were able to save the moment with their skills as a player, if a noob fucked things up. These days the game is holding your hand. Giving noobs and adventage and limiting experts.

WoW is or was a good game/MMO by many, many standards. That the hype around it made many people think otherwise is certainly understandable, but only that, if you ask me.

But you cant use the x-realm dungeon finder for raids, right? I think thats why high pop realms are better for raid pugging. But yeah, the login queues suck.

However, it's high pop, so we pug progress lots (good), but queue times, especially today, are massive (bad)...

Makes me doubt there's even room for accounts making chars on that server. ^^

High pop realms do have benefits though. Low prices in AH and good PuGs indeed.

Meh it'll depend on certain friends of mine what decision I'll make. If they go back, I'll go back. Can't get that goblin hunter idea out of my damn head..

Sooo.. how is it? What do you feel other than the "too little too late" feeling I had when I was walking around destroyed Azeroth? How special do you feel as one of the hundreds of worgen/goblins running around? And where do lvl 80s quest to level?

Seriously, I wanna know ^^
Here's my beta impression:
Overall it's good. The revamp of the old world is too late, it probably should have been done earlier with some stuff(like flight). Worgen/goblins will be the hot shit for a few weeks just like other class combos while people reroll new stuff then abandon. It was the same with space goats and belfs.

80's can go to Vashj or Hyjal I suggest going to both to level, which order doesn't matter. One because they're both lore rich, and two because it'll help fill out all the blue gear you'll want to collect for dungeons.

The GF is enjoying it, I think she's buying me a copy tonight and going to try enticing me back into playing.

Thanks for answering! I never really played a hunter so I kinda feel like rolling a Goblin hunter. Got 2 gift-coupons I can use to buy Cataclysm.. but will I truly willingly ruin my life even more?

I'll be contemplating for a few days/weeks/hopefully months.

If my original post felt like an attack to people, then I'm sorry. It's never really my intention but I've learned that I really lack subtlety in expressing my opinion (not just in English, fyi ;)).

I think it's obvious by now that I don't like religion much at all but I've realized that there's simply no use in expressing it. It's just that I agree with a quote from, here it comes, Stephen King (!!) so much that it almost feel like betraying myself if I'm not expressing my opinion in full power. But in doing so, I'm just as much a zealot as others.

"Politics and religion. The two things made up by man for the sole reason to bash eachother's head in and get away with it."

I don't really understand your logic. Side-quests are optional. You don't have to do them. If you want a shorter experience, skip the side-quests and focus on the main quests. What you're basically saying is that you want the game to have less content so that you don't have to play it as much?

In Oblivion I got so tired of the game after a billion side-quests that I never finished the main quest. But I don't knock the game for that - I got way more than my $50 worth playing those side quests alone. 80 hours or so.

Fallout 3 was close to it - I noticed I was getting tired of plowing through every empty building just to see what there was to see - so I plowed through the main mission instead.

Let's be honest here, the main missions of these games are like 8 hours. When you start getting fatigued just move to them and get through. Or don't. The main missions aren't usually any more fun than the better side missions, or than just doing your own thing. They just have cut scenes and plot, often ones that don't matter much.

Sooo are you saying that's good or bad? I personally don't know if your critisizing or complementing the game.

I myself would've loved to see LESS side-quests and MORE main-quests. That's because I'm a person that quickly gets the "What the fuck am I doing, running around in a virtual world all alone?" feeling when I'm doing mindless sidequests in games like Oblivion or Fallout. I need a strong story to believe the illusion I'm not wasting my life xD

The worst part is I cant leave the fort until Ive seen Ceasar so Im stuck....

Terrible game breaking bug

There's a console command where you can summon your doggie right to your feet. All you need is it's ID.

I hope you're playing on PC, else it's all your fault anyway

WoW is for idiots. Hows that for hate? ANd I dont even hate MMO's. I just hate hand holding retard MMO's with a population of 90% morons that cant play their class at max level and whine about free epic handouts

I know where you're coming from. The handholding part got really tragic after that last major patch. Ugh, horrible.

And yes, 95% of the players are losers who can't play their class. Funny thing is that every player thinks he is the best and that all attention is focussed on him, while in fact... everyone is on their own and nobody gives a shit nor pays attention to anyone else. It was one of the reasons that convinced me to quit WoW a good while ago.

And like clockwork, a WoW news topic appears on Blues News and all the WoW hate begins all over again.

I mean really, how many times do the usual suspects have to come here and bash WoW and try to convince everyone who enjoys it that they are somehow deprived, deranged, low-life losers?

I say, the folks that can't let a WoW post go by without spewing forth the same old rubbish they say on every other WoW post need to ask themselves where their "addiction" to hating on WoW comes from. So far as I can tell, that's the only real addition I can see on Blues News...repetitive criticisms directed at the same old games.

The first step in treating your addiction is to acknowledge you have one...go head and say it "I CAN let a WoW post go by without commenting on it." There, I knew you could do it.

That #1 wisdom thing of mine... I... I was moreso talking to myself than others. Same for the second, really. Last month I payed a month again, after a long long time. When I was back ingame I was thinking "What the HELL am I doing here?" Then I was invited into a raid, and I was healing and getting those sweet... sweet compliments I hardly ever get in real life (*sob*) and I felt the drugs flowing through my veins again.

It.... it scared me. (*sniff*)

Yeah, because the only thing to do in this expansion is make a goblin or worgen...

Yes.

No. But since people have been playing human, elves, dwarves, gnomes, orcs, taurens, etc, for years most of them certainly wanna try out the new races first thing once they got their hands on Cataclysm. That's completely understandable. Only after a few months people will go back to rolling other races or get stuck gearing up their high levels.

Blegh, wasn't it clear that's what I meant?

Boys and girls! 2 points of wisdom:

1. WoW is old and you've wasted enough of your life on this game. If you think it's still awesome --> that's your addiction talking;

2. IF you're not convinced by #1, then atleast wait a few months before getting Cataclysm. In this way, you won't be one of the hundreds of Worgens or Goblins running around trying to finish the same quest but can't.

That is all. Good evening.

And then there's people like me the game hardly ever crashed on. I don't wanna be a prick thinking if the people who have all the crashes know anything about setting there hard- and software up correctly.. but I can't help it.

I'm sure there would've been 70% less complaints about crashes if people had all the latest drivers and watched less streaming porn.

Ok that's nonsense of course, but I just really wanted to say it.

Anyway, this or that... it still keeps surprising me how often people suffer crashes in games (not just Fallout) while the last time my PC crashed (apart from about 5 times in Fallout New Vegas) was about 6 months ago.

Honestly leaves me very cold so far.

Man, I really hope there'll be more games popping my interest than The Witcher 2. It's seriously the only game I'm looking forward to.

It's almost Christmas time and there's no worthy title coming out. It's ridiculous xD

Edit: Got myself confused with a gamescon trailer of Red Orchestra 2 I looked up after this newsfeed. The trailer of this Vietnam game looked pretty sweet. Still... too little footage and too early for me to get even remotely excited.
