| Indeed... first half of the trailer is mostly useless, but the second half shows a really beautiful world (and I say that as a player of GW, WoW, and LotRO who just yesterday installed a new 260 GTX and was underwhelmed by pushing all sliders to the max). This one just looks very much like something I want to play! |

What makes them think people want to go back to ancient times, when the present time game was such a huge hit? The publisher has already stated that work on CoD 5 had begun before CoD 4 was released, so they had no chance to take the positive reviews and acceptance into account.

i'm about to educate you and let you know people DO like to start from scratch. i am one of them. Well, I believe you, but I really really think that people like you are the minority wrt sheer numbers. For some anecdotal evidence, several people on the server I play jumped ship and went to LotRO when it was released. Most came back. I myself just tried it recently, because I just wanted to see it. Yeah, it's fun. My friends are in WoW, though, so I came back.
On a related side note: AoC really does not interested me. Someone else up this thread said that sure people will leave WoW for AoC since WoW only incluides lackluster AoC, well, i couldn't be interested less, and I even play on a server with the PvP ruleset.
Or AoC so-called "maturity". Damn, the last time I saw an AoC developer diary video I only thought "oh my god, how immature, they need totally unrealistic gore fountains and actually call it mature?" That is only what some immature people want, imo. I mean, seriously. That is not mature, or appealing to a mature crowd, only to a crowd that is legally allowed to buy graphical depictions of violence and reveling in that fact...

You know, they might also fix the glaring bug (design bug more than technical bug, but makes it more or less unplayable for me) where you CANNOT BIND ALL KEYS ON YOUR KEYBOARD. They even tell you so in the manual. I mean, no, you cannot bind 'R' to move forward, even if you are used to use RDFG instead of WASD since DOOM, because... uhm, no, there really is no good reason for that.

Thanks, FreonTrip, I couldn't bother to write a good reply to all the morons here myself, but yours just explained the OpenGL situation best. The sad thing is that it won't do any good, the morons will just rant on... And what the heck is that about OpenGL being Open Source? It is an API, for crying out loud! How can it be open source? It can be licensed royalty free or something like that, but open source?

For a second there I thought the Gold version was supposed to include the expansions, but I guess just the first (lousy) one. Well, the mistake is on your side. The gold version is pretty old, from around ca. when HotU came out, so it would have been stupid by BioWare/Atari at best to include it. What you were looking for are the Platinum or the Diamond edition, both of which include both expansions in additions to the original game, and the later additionally (I think) Kingmaker, one of the Premium Modules. Would have helped if you had read either the box description and maybe even researched on teh intarweb...
Edit: Forgot to say w00t for NWN2 going gold! This comment was edited on Oct 17, 12:01. |

Infinity Engine... |

So, they finally update this to look like the Infinity Engine games (BG, IWD, PS:T)? Well, that is a step up or five for UO, but still, are the player/mob models 3d or sprite? Hard to say from stills...

Well, KotoR2's ending sucked because LucasArts pulled the publisher on Obsidian ("this game WILL be finished for the holidays or... it WILL be finished anyways"), but PS:T is unlikely anway: Wizards of the Coast is not licensing the world of Sigil anymore, only Forgotten Realms and Eberron...

And yes, why should I give a shit when it's released in Europe? A lot of good that does me. If you'd like to pay for my flight and hotel so I can go pick up the game, great. That or you could pay my shipping charges and exchange to import it. No? I didn't think so, so shut the fuck up, Donny. Uh, see, these are websites that are on the internet, which barring some censorship are readably all over the world, but very very often they only tell us release dates for the US and or Canada. Now let me get that point back at ya: why should I give a shit when it's released in America? A lot of good that does me. If you'd like to pay for my flight and hotel so I can go pick up the game, great. That or you could pay my shipping charges and exchange to import it. Now maybe you want to ask Stephen Heaslip to block access to this site from outside the Americas and to tell all the other site admin he knows about this request as well, but as long as I can access this site from Europe, I think it is not unreasonable to be informed on international releases of AAA titles, especially if this is the first release date for a title developed outside the Americas.
Thanks for listening.

this somehow results in better onboard video on motherboards, I can't see what AMD is gonna get out of this. While ATi is mostly popular (or not, I am an Nvidia guy) for the video cards, they also build chipsets for the AMD platform. And AMD does not produce any chipsets themselves, as Intel is doing, so they have always been at the whim of other companies to make their own products run. With this move they all of a sudden can get a foot into the integrated graphics market as well as create chipsets for their own CPUs.
We will only have to wait and see what will become of the nForce after this, for example...

THis has already been discussed quite a lot on the NWN2 forums yesterday. The main point seems to be that DLA and CODI (DragonLance Adventures and City of Doors Intiative, modding teams that got to make premium modules) were getting kind of "too far" for Atari since they were about to include ridable mounts, which were scrapped from NWN2. Therefore these two Premium Modules were cancelled.
The bad thing about this is that both teams were some of the biggest and best contributers to the Custom Content scene for NWN, and this really bad move on Ataris side made a lot of the bunch reconsider their position regarding NWN2, as in "buy - maybe, mod for it - probably not anymore". This sure could backfire...

Uhm Feargus isn't the one who left, Ferret Beaudoin (spelling?) is. J.E. Sawyer took over as acting lead designer, and Feargus is project lead or whatever it is called.

Had Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth in my hands today, unsure whether to buy it since I haven't read any reviews on this PC game, only previews, so it is already out... at least here in Germany.

What Blizzard needs to do is make a CG movie. Yup, alsways said that as well. A Warcraft or Diablo movie, done entirely in the style of their introductions... would love to see that. The WoW trailer is also pretty much kickass, although it has no plot, only shows off races and classes.
On topic: Hm, who is this guy and why would I care what he writes about in his blog? I mean, everything in there sounded plausible, but not more as if I thought like 10 minutes about how Diablo III might look like and wrote about it. Anyway, there is still hope, loved the first two.

I do not think that "Rune" could not be considered a AAA title. Maybe it didn't sell too well, but it is nonetheless not a budget title IMO. And yeah, Prey looks promising indeed!
