Re: electric armour |

So if the armor is so good why isn't it being used more? Because it's probably somewhat expensive. It also has to be retrofitted onto/into existing vehicles, which can be expensive and take a while to do if the decision to use it goes ahead. There's the training aspect to look after as well.
The need for this type of reactive armour just shows how effective the RPG-7 has been as a weapon. Simple to use and reusable - a launch tube and a bagful of grenades. So much for fire and forget...

100% more pr0n than any of it's competitors. I wonder if AMD's marketing people know about the, er, potentially negative connotations of that suffix.

Geez, took like ten rolls before I got it.
Remember, once you figure it out, you're not supposed to tell anyone else! They have to get it on their own, as Bill Gates did, finally.

Re: no RIP for Ronald Reagan? |

Blue posted a RIP for Reagan yesterday. Come on guys. Pay attention before say things like that. Actually, Blue didn't. nin posted a link about this to the forum accompanying yesterday's OOTB (which is where Sunday's brouhaha over Reagan really started).
I guess Blue felt that since a lot of us were already discussing his passing that it was superfluous to put the RIP up...
Edited: to remove repetitious repetition...

Ahh, I knew this was going to be a great day all around. Couldn't ask for more. Man, that's cold. Even for you... Not that I'm a fan, but wait a bit before dancing on the grave will you?

Re: Pepsi ipod givaway |

The website says they are giving away one every hour until July 11, not Sept. 24. I saw that same story earlier today, and it did originally say Sept. 24 on the MacMinute site. (I remember it because I was pretty amazed at how much cash Pepsi must have to give out 24 iPods a day for almost 4 months.)

Scrambled eggs |

It took more than 14 hours to clean up the spill and reopen the highway. Babb's co-workers brought food to keep the crew's energy up, but he didn't exactly appreciate it.
"They brought us scrambled eggs, you believe that?" Babb said. "Sick sense of humor, these people." Ha ha ha ha! That's great!

Re: DIY DVD censorship |

These days we have technology, and technology allows for us to add more options to life instead of everything being a binary decision. It can be argued that technology has helped get us into our current societal situation where some of us believe they need to rely on it to watch movies they shouldn't be watching with children in the same room.
Maybe it's just because I am old school, but this kind of technology seems to me to be a way to avoid the effort that goes into being parents. When someone uses these devices, they basically outsource their moral judgement on movies to a third party, in my opinion.

I mean really! If you were a bad ass killer, you'd call yourself the 'Widowmaker', or 'Reaper'. 'Winnie the Poo'? What was he thinking? If you really were a bad ass killer, you could probably call yourself anything you want and we'd all nod and say, "Yes sir!" without cracking a smirk if we wanted to live...

Would it somehow be better if they sat there with the remote control and skipped the scenes themselves? I'm probably dating myself, but in the good ol' days we simply didn't show those films to the young'uns. Any film which contained any scenes deemed unsuitable for kids simply didn't get run at my place... No fast forwarding by hand or machine required.
It would be a scream to run a porno flick through this system - the movie would be over in like a minute or two... Slam bam, thank you ma'am!

I'm waiting for the inevitable lawsuit from condom manufacturers suing for lost income caused by this program and others like it.
(On second thought, the average teen doesn't think about pregnancy prevention too much anyway, so there probably won't be any economic repercussions.)
