The NFL organization is a bad joke. Their pretense of having some sort of moral code of conduct would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. How many times does Cheaterchick get to cheat and get away with it? How many of the criminals in the league get to be criminals and get away with it? Pay a fine and off you go. That's the message they're sending. Lie, cheat, steal, do drugs, beat your wife, kill people, etc. and it's not only ok, you get rewarded for it.

I'm still having a hard time figuring out why this is cause for such alarm. Baseball teams doing all manner of ungodly things to the infield dirt or outfield grass in order to affect running and/or ball movement across those surfaces is just thought of as part of the game and a legitimate use of home field advantage. But take a bit of air out of a damn football and suddenly it's like Snidely Whiplash levels of skullduggery.

Exit question: Are baseball fans that much more accustomed to underhanded tactics, or are football fans that much thinner-skinned?

Changing the grass in baseball affects both teams, but from what I've been reading, it almost seems both offenses in an NFL game use separate sets of game balls?

In any case, baseball fans are just as pissed when there's cheating (I watched game 2 of the 2007 world series with a fellow Cardinals fans, and holy shit, I thought he was going to explode because Kenny Rogers was using pinetar while pitching. It was pretty incredible just how pissed he got) but the media makes far less of a broohaha about it.

Also, there's really nothing else to talk about re: the NFL right now, so it gets ridiculous amounts of attention.

On the newly updated site, youíll now see a new PLAY NOW button, allowing you to quickly register and link your Steam account. When logged into your Steam account, youíll be able to download Nosgoth and start playing. Itís that easy

Doesn't that seem kinda backwards? Why not allow people to just dl it in Steam from the store?

It's not in early stages since it will be released this fall.

Is that what they actually said? I think they said that it would be released in Windows 10's cycle, not necessarily at Win10's release.

It looked to me like just another Google Glass.

No, it is quite a bit more than that. Google glass is basically just a HUD/Camera, and this actually allows far more interactivity and options.

Whether that all makes it something that's worth using remains to be seen.

But, we gotta start somewhere. We don't go from nothing to holodeck in one leap.

(Funny thing, I was watching some TNG extras on the bluray, and Melissa Snodgrass said that "If you had replicators and holodecks, nobody would ever leave their house. Also, people would get up to the most heinous debauchery in those holodecks." So true. )

Has any "space game" ever done multiplayer crews before? (I'm not sure if EVE has them). It's always seemed cool in theory, but when you start thinking about what people would actually be doing, it kind of falls apart quickly, I'd think.

It'll be interesting to see how that shakes out, gameplay-wise.

Didn't play it, but wasn't this the premise of Allegiance?

Never heard of it, so I dunno.

If memory serves you could have players in turrets in your YT-2000 in x-wing alliance.

And it sucked. you're trying to shoot the bad guys and the f*cking ship is looping and spinning and you have like zero frame of reference as to what the ship is about to do.

I don't remember that being in Alliance, but I've played a few games where one guy is driving and the other is in the turret (Borderlands readily comes to mind), and it's practically impossible to hit anything.

In a destroyer type vessel, this would be mitigated since it simply can't turn that quickly, but even then it would be boring as hell to be in a turret. You could take controls of turrets in X3 and you just sit there waiting for that 2 seconds that an enemy flies into view. It's not even remotely interesting.

I know my internet was out for 'a few days' last week. Or did I accidentally fall into a coma for a few years instead? What happened to Windows 9?

Did they forget what comes after 8 or did I miss something? Why stick with numbers if you're not going to be sequential? Did 7 really eat 9?

Unconfirmed rumors went around that they were worried about poorly programmed software confusing Windows 9 for either 95 or 98. Y2K all over again! PLANES WILL FALL FROM THE SKY! NUCLEAR PLANTS WILL GO INTO MELTDOWN!

Yeah, it's probably just a stupid marketing thing. I was actually quite surprised they didn't call it Windows One, because it sure seemed likely.

Not MP as in 2 person flies the same ship but groups of players in a group with different ships jumping from system to system or fighting in a coordinated attack has been done before.

True, but that's not the same thing.

It'll be interesting to see how well this works. I think roleplayers will really enjoy it, but for everyone else it'll probably fizzle and stop being interesting in a hurry.

Yeah, exactly. It SOUNDS really cool, but what are those buddies manning various stations actually doing?

Lost in the all the cool TNG episodes was the fact that if Data wasn't an Android, he'd have been bored out of his mind sitting at that Ops station.

Who, exactly, was waiting on that? Also, if that's what we have to rejoice about with regards to Windows 10, then... yay.

Well, I wasn't exactly waiting, but Fable is one of the reasons I own an XBone.

It's not magical, but I do admit it does AR pretty damn well. I wished that MS hippy yesterday stopped using the fucking word "holograms", though, as that is simply not what they are.

In the end, it'll just be a very expensive toy, as that whole idea of using it for productivity was just laughable. It took the lady who was demonstrating it quite a bit of effort to just click on a single tile. Yeah, people are going to sit around with that stupid thing on their face to take ten seconds to click somewhere, as opposed to just sitting behind a desk and clicking something in 0.01 seconds with a mouse, MS. Rolleyes

But, again, it was impressive technology.

I remember when I bought a video game, I installed it, it worked, didn't require an internet connection for solo play (or even during a LAN) and I could play it regardless of whether the publishing company went tits up.

These days I spend my money on tabletop gaming instead because I am sick and tired of the DRM and money grubbing.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to argue with that.

I've got a huge backlog of games specifically for when that day comes that the game industry goes full-on MS level of retard, and I simply stop buying new games except for maybe one or two Elder Scrolls / GTA style games per year or so.

I have enough games by now to last me several years, and that's not counting replays.

"I don't like people thinking we're doing underhanded, dirty shit."

Well, then... you know... maybe don't do shit that appears dirty and underhanded? Not saying it actually IS dirty or underhanded, but bleating about the mass of DLC you've got lined up before your game is even on the shelves tends to do that. Especially when I keep seeing people saying that your game costs 60 bucks and feels more like 20 bucks worth of content to them.

How much will each episode set me back, and how long will it take for all the episodes to be released (how many will there be) and at what cost?

I know they had a stretch goal for it being 50 missions long, and I think they may have had a stretch goal to make it 65 missions, but I'm not sure on the latter.

I think the first episode is ten missions? So expect this to be at least five episodes long, probably taking, what... 6 months or so between them?

I wasn't thrilled with it. I don't think standing in one spot is great for you either

It isn't. People who think that a standing desk somehow magically cures all woes associated with sitting behind a conventional desk are deluding themselves.

Sure, you don't get something like blood clots. Instead you get spine issues and sore knees/calves/feet. Win?

The best advise is to simply get up every now and then, stretch a little, go for a quick jaunt around the office / floor, etc.

Obviously exercising helps, as being in shape simply allows your body to absorb greater amounts of punishment, but all that really does is just mask the symptoms. It doesn't do anything for the root cause, which is sitting in place, usually in the exact same semi-hunched-over position, for hours on end.
