Sho wrote on Mar 6, 2013, 15:46: Torment is my seventh Kickstarter and my second-highest pledge so far (the money I threw at Dreamfall Chapters was far in excess of this one; Dreamfall is still the only video game that ever made me cry). Just out of curiosity, Sho, how much did you donate to Dreamfall? (It's just a question, feel free to ignore or tell me to mind my own damn business. )

Haha! Kickstarter Fatigue has kicked in! I was refreshing first every five seconds, then every three seconds, then every two seconds. And the pledged amount always rose. But then, eventually, there was one refresh during the 2 second cycle when NOBODY GAVE ANY MONEY!
Chris Taylor was right, after all... (I bet he feels really fucking stupid now.)

I can just see the face of the guy who has to setup the Paypal option. Since they were like "We'll set it up once we're funded," he was probably like "Oh, I got time."
And now they're going "Karl! Set up that fucking Paypal option already!"
Poor Karl.

Sho wrote on Mar 6, 2013, 14:14: I wonder if Chris Avellone will be a stretch goal ... they had him as one on Wasteland 2 I think, and the FAQ teases with "planned Stretch Goals include adding more writing talent (including some names you may find familiar)".
Maybe Chris should put "Kickstarter stretch goal" on his card, if true? I bet that gets him so many women.
Chris: "Hey babe, I'm Chris Avellone. You may have heard of me. I was a stretch goal for Kickstarter."
Girl: *SWOON*

And I was like "Err... no, they're not done yet."
She gave me a little "nerd!" look and walked away. I'm not sure how to tell her I backed another game.

Not like they tattooed "SWTOR IS GOTY OF ALL TIME WOO BIOWARE!!!" underneath... I would pay good money to see someone put that in ink on their body... I'm sure Slick has an "EA MAKES ME HARD" tat on his lower abdomen.

Bill Borre wrote on Mar 6, 2013, 12:53: The story doesn't sound plausible. For one thing, prior to 9/11, getting through that door probably would not have posed much challenge. For another, systematically murdering the crew would likely incense the passengers.
The most rational thing for the terrorists to have done would have been to simply lie to everyone that they were hijacking the plane. "Everyone stay calm and no one will get hurt." The passengers literally would not know what hit them until they slammed into the concrete and steel of the tower. I'm not making it up, Bill. It was reported at the time. Whether it was true, I don't know—I'm not an investigator nor am I Nostradamus.
And it's hard to say "We're hijacking the plane" if you can't get into the cockpit.

Sho wrote on Mar 6, 2013, 13:36: Another thing: As a Linux-when-possible gamer I was really happy to see them advertise Linux support from the outset, instead of making it a stretch goal.
I mean let's face it, the main reason "Linux support" and "Kickstarter game" correlate so much is because the Humble Bundle showed, via Linux buyers paying the highest average price, that Linux gamers are an attractive mobilization target because they like to show off their strong commitment to their favorite platform by reaching more deeply into their wallets. And yeah, that applies to me as well - but I was also starting to build up a little bit of resentment for having the Linux carrot dangled before me again and again. That they've committed to Linux support right from the get go contributed to me feeling good about this one (and making it a stretch goal would have made me feel extra-bad since they're advertising tech sharing with Wasteland 2 as a risk-reducing advantage in their pitch, i.e. it wouldn't have really added up to a coherent story). I think it's more due to the fact that they have a Linux pipeline now (whether in-house or outsourced), so could easily commit to porting it. But even so, I'm glad they're supporting multiple formats out of the box.
