Can we get a dislike button for our comments section?

We have an ignore button. Why do we need a dislike button too? If someone is a giant fucking toadstool, I just put him on ignore. No need to waste my time on him by clicking the dislike button over and over and over again.

Some of that VA is terrible, what were they thinking with the Bull one?

Yeah, Freddie did a good job with James Vega, but I don't really like him for the Bull either. He actually does a good job acting as it's pretty different from the way he usually sounds, but it just seems so off for that character.

Oh well. Still looking forward to this.

I agree that, were this to get to the SC, it would be struck down, but when they had the chance to strike it down they declined, but that was because they chose to discuss a different aspect.

SCOTUS refused to deal with the case again (I thought Whorley had lost, but they never even bothered to take it) because (emphasis mine)

Dwight Whorley was convicted under 18 U.S.C. sec. 1466A for using a Virginia Employment Commission computer to receive "obscene Japanese anime cartoons that graphically depicted prepubescent female children being forced to engage in genital-genital and oral-genital intercourse with adult males".[5][6][7] He was also convicted of possessing child pornography involving real children. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison

Whether the anime he had was CP was irrelevant. He had ACTUAL child pornography, at which point he was going to rot in jail anyway.

In any case, Protect ACT or no, the one time SCOTUS dealt with this issue, they correctly stated: "the CPPA prohibits speech that records no crime and creates no victims by its production. Virtual child pornography is not 'intrinsically related' to the sexual abuse of children".

So I'm going to go that no, it is not illegal in the US. And that British judge is a fucking cuntmiser.

Didn't this guy already do a successful similar book for the C64? I thought I read that when looking over the info...

Oh, I just skimmed through it. I'll have to go back and re-read.

You guys know that computer created child porn is illegal in the US, right?

As mentioned, this is illegal in the us, too. Also Australia.

I can't find it at work, because any links with the words CP or stuff like that in them get blocked by our rather overzealous filter, but SCOTUS confirmed that drawings or writings about CP are not a crime and fall under first amendment protection.

I believe this is the proper link, but like I said, it won't load at work.

Handley (sic) took a plea bargain and many, many people said he'd have walked had he just gone to court, but the prosecutor scared the shit out of him and he decided to play it safe. The only other similar sort of case (Whorley, IIRC), had been looking at actual CP while at work for a government division and thus lost his case when he took it to the SCOTUS.

Everyone involved in CP should rot in jail, but manga is not CP. There is no victim. The UK's judge belief that "society and the public can clearly do without such material" is pure fucking suppression of thought, and isn't even his fucking job to begin with. His job is to uphold/interpret the LAW. Not to decide what is fucking decent enough for society at large.

Thoughtcrime at its finest. Good old UK.

Please, british citizens, come complain about what a shithole the US is again while ignoring the ridiculous government you live under. How's that porn filter working out for you guys?

Hahahahahahaha. She's been on every single fucking platform that is willing to give her a minute of time. She's less exclusive than Hillary Scott and Aurora Snow. (If you don't know who they are, do NOT google them at work!)

Has she been?
She's been discussed relentlessly, but I haven't seen (nor looked for) a single interview with her.

My bad, I thought they were talking about Sarkeesian, not about Quinn. I didn't want to actually click the link and give MSNBC the page hit.

No, Quinn has been pretty low key. My sentiment stands for Sarkeesian.

they're saying 5 missions, but I bet those 5 take under 30 minutes to finish, just like the "exclusive" Playstation content that supposedly adds an hour onto gameplay but I usually finish in 15-20 minutes.

[edit] oh, wait, 3 of those 5 seem to be already promised if you pre-order, so you hit it on the nose

I'm cynical for a reason... It's because you usually wind up being right. Sigh

So an exclusive day-one mission (probably just as terrifyingly lame as the one in FC3 was), an open world survival mode, unspecified number of missions (so 2) with Hurk and his harpoon gun, and a pvp mode.

"All" of this can be yours for likely just 30 dollars!

What a bunch of bullshit. I wish people would stop buying these fucking things.

I could be wrong here, and I never bothered to research this. But I recall being told that there was a treaty between the US and China such that each country would agree to continue delivering the other's mail once it's sent from the original destination. A kind of indirect subsidy.

Again I stress, I do not know if this is true, but I heard as much from someone who was into eBay dropshipping.

That agreement exists basically between the large majority of all nations in the world, as far as the mail goes. You collect the money in your country and I'll deliver it for free in my country, and vice versa. (although it wouldn't surprise me if there are peering agreements in case the mail volume is heavily skewed in a single direction.)

So the reason China can offer cheap shipping is likely because the costs of shipping in their country are very low compared to most western nations.

And about AI work... why do all that when people are still buying the rudimentarty stuff? Someone is going to have to make (an Indy) something that knocks our socks off AI wise, to the point we won't accept less to force the rest to move forward.

Sadly the game industry doesn't really work that way. We're 5+ years on from Red Dead Redemption, and the horses in today's games are a million times shittier. Same for facial features since LA Noire, etc.

Someone makes a cool feature, but it doesn't get adopted.

So someone could make a killer AI, and then all the other devs would be "eh, 4 lines of If/Then statements (aka the Creative Assembly way of making AI) will be fine."

How is it possible that CoD is going back to the twitchy gameplay of Quake? Isnt that inherently sucky with console controllers?
