The fact that you consider Wasteland 2 "simple" or "half-arsed" is downright absurd. There's nothing simple about it.

Except, you know, the combat, which is a majority of the game.

I didn't mind so much that the combat was simple, but there was way too much of it for how simple it was, and nowhere nearly enough cleverly planned encounters (such as when the robots ambush your base in the plant in California ; that was a really well-executed combat. It was tough to survive, forced you to make some tactical choices, and it was fun to play.)

And then there was the weird disconnect between skill levels. I'd basically maxed out my combat skills by the time I went to Cali, which made all the combat there just a boring attrition slog of watching numbers dwindle until Yet Another Robot with 400 health had died, but at the same time all my usage skills that were at level 6-8 become completely useless since every single skill check in California was blatantly level 10 or higher.

I finally gave up playing it in Hollywood. Keep meaning to go back, but really have no desire to.

All that said, I think they delivered a great game for their Kickstarter budget.

I'm typically pretty opposed to censorship (unless it's against shit like child porn), but that doesn't mean I'm going to vote for your utterly pointless and utterly childish game, Polish neo-nazis.

Pai's sudden interest in the fairness of Netflix's CDN is curious coming from a Commissioner that was formerly employed by Verizon, is opposed to net neutrality rules, frequently absent in conversations about the sector's lack of competition, and an avid supporter of industry consolidation.

And long overdue being hit by a fucking bus.

If Josh burns out, I hope he just puts a "fly mode" into his engine so I can spawn a ship and just fly around and look at all the pretty stuff he's made.

That said, several people (harlock foremost) have been saying that it looks like he's not going to get enough content in here to really make it a game, and more and more it seems like that will indeed be the case. He's obviously an engine / tools guy, not a content guy. This is why games are no longer made by four people in their garage.

Even so, I feel I've already long since gotten my 20 bucks worth out of the videos he's made, because by God are some of those planets / nebulae / etc beautiful.

Been enjoying Far Cry 4 it's a lot like 3 with some great improvements & some bad decision making as well. Not a bad game though. The bad guy in this one is really charismatic & the acting is very good.
Troy Baker IS pretty fantastic. I just wish studios would stop having him use his normal tough guy protagonist voice less, and let him branch out more like he's done in FC4, Batman (Joker) and Shadow of Mordor

Didn't Troy Baker do Joel in Last of Us as well? He was fantastic there too. Definitely knocking on Nolan's door.

Speaking of Christmas, I finally got around to doing all of my shopping yesterday, but most of it was done through Blue's Amazon links. With a sound bar system, a nice dutch oven, a new HDD, an iPad, and some other junk, it came out to a pretty hefty bill. Hopefully Amazon throws some nickels at you Blue!

Awesome, toT.

7. Re: Steam Holiday Auction Resumes Dec 12, 2014, 22:08 Creston

So you have the chance to sell cards for gems, and with those gems bid on games, and you have to win the auction to actually get said game.

Alternatively, you can just sell your cards, and with the money, buy the actual game you want. What is it with people getting all fucking excited if points/gems/whatever gets put in as the middle man?

I think the whole trading cards thing is retarded, but when I have a few minutes of boredom at work, I go into my inventory, sell every card I have for the current price, and at the end of it I have like 5 or 6 bucks that automatically gets applied as a discount on whatever I buy on Steam next. If I couldn't do it at work, I wouldn't even bother with it, as it's definitely not worth all my free time if I had to do it at my slow-ass home connection.

This auction thing is just such a weird fucking extra step. I think Valve is just going "Let's see what other stupid thing we can get people to participate in."

So, I hear some of you are kicking yourselves for bitching at me when I said I wanted to make FS3 few years back?

Heh. The thing isn't, Derek, that we don't want FS3 to be made. It's that there's little trust that you would do it justice. You've made interesting games, to be sure, and I'll leave aside the whole broohaha about how broken they are that always follows them, but they also tend to be a bit of a "all that and the kitchen sink too!" variety. Kinda like SC, really.

FS, as you well know, is nothing like that. It's about the pure, smooth-as-silk art of dogfighting in space, and the sheer mind-blowing awe you feel when you first see just how fucking BIG those enemy cap ships are. Without it, it wouldn't be FS. And people just don't think you can deliver on that.

In any case, like I already said before, why bother with the IP? It's the most generic sci-fi tripe imaginable. Write some new fiction, make FS3, call it "Free in Space" and blammo.

I may just pick up both FFXIII and XIII-2 on the PC when they're on sale, and play them on PC then. My PS3 is getting pretty long in the tooth.

Thanks all.

None. Quite surprising, seeing as how they made this portal themselves for the sole purpose of trying to scam some more people out of money.

329 plus a game is actually a pretty good price. If they'd made a bundle for 329 with Forza Horizons 2 in it, I'd have already snagged one up.

Has someone played the FFXIII port on the PC? Is it worth playing the port over the PS3 version? (all details about the story being naf or great etc notwithstanding. I'm purely talking port.)

Solas is spot on (makes sense, seeing as how he's an actual Elven God and all ) since Bull doesn't actually even make that particular decision. YOU make it for him...

More secret: also, how fucking stupid was that whole mission anyway? - OH NOES, MORE VENATORI! Choose whether you'll lose the actually pretty cool "High Fantasy A-Team" guys, or the faceless Qunari dreadnought, Inquisitor!
- Er, they're just right down there. I can literally even target them with spells. Why don't I just go down there and kill them, and save BOTH?
- Nonsense! Bioware Logic(tm) dictates that you must make One of Two binary choices! HAHAHAHA!

The whole thing was just groan worthy.

But Solas is cool. I was a Dorian fan at the start, but I've quite gotten to like Solas.
